The National Farmers Day in India is also known as Kisan Divas in Hindi. Farmer's Day is celebrated every year on 23 December, on the birthday of the 5th Prime Minister of India, Choudhary Charan Singh, also a farmer's leader, who introduced many policies to improve the lives of the Indian farmers. It is widely celebrated across the country.

Our planet's survival depends on the precious link between soil & water. Over 95 percent of our food originates from these two fundamental resources.

World Soil Day raises awareness of the important role that healthy soil plays in the food system. One of the major challenges that those involved in food & agricultural production face is soil degradation, & this contributes to the global threat facing food security & nutrition.

The date of 5 December for WSD was chosen because it corresponds with the official birthday of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, who officially sanctioned the event.

The Planting season begins ! 🧑‍🌾

The process begins with
- Tilling of the land ,
- Application of organic manure to develop the nutrients in the soil,
- Preparation of beds,
- Laying of drip irrigation lines &
- Finally laying of Mulch sheets & getting the farm ready for the next process which is transplantation of saplings.

Happy Ugadi !! Happy New year !!

The day is observed by drawing colourful patterns on the floor called Muggulu, mango leaf decorations on doors called torana, buying and giving gifts such as new clothes, giving charity to the poor, oil massage followed by special bath, preparing and sharing a special food called pachadi, and visiting Hindu temples.

The pachadi is a notable festive food that combines all flavors – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and piquant. In Telugu and Kannada Hindu traditions, it is a symbolic reminder that one must expect all flavors of experiences in the coming new year and make the most of them.

Happy Maha Shivratri !!

Maha Shivratri is a great festival of convergence of Shiva and Shakti. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati got married on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. While Lord Shiva signifies Purusha - which is mindfulness, Maa Parvati signifies Prakriti - which is nature.

While Shivratri occurs every month, Mahashivratri is the great night of Shiva that occurs only once a year.

Kisan Diwas or Indian National Farmers Day is celebrated every year on December 23, which is also the birth anniversary of the country's fifth Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. Kisan Diwas celebrates the farmers and their work in the country !!

He was known for the farmer-friendly policies and his work towards the welfare of the farmers.

Snakes in our Farm !!

There are many questions that arise when you consider the presence of snakes on the farm:

- What kinds of snakes are common?
- Why do snakes live on farms?
- Are they good or bad from a conservation point of view?

If you're a farmer, you should be thrilled to have beneficial snakes around your farm.
As they prevent the destruction of food crops that a farmer grows for his livelihood and hence snakes are farmer's friend.

Their diets of rats, mice, and insects like aphids, beetles, and slugs make them better than any pesticide you could put in your fields. Snakes can be useful in controlling rat populations. In some parts of the world, the benefits of snakes are now being recognized.

Indian Cobra is known to be one of the deadliest creatures which may reside in India farms in the hopes of tracking down rodents. This puts local farmers in harm’s way more than regularly; therefore, it is actually beneficial for other smaller snake species such as the Indian Rat Snake or the Common Wolf Snake, to keep the rodent population under control so that there is little incentive left for the deadlier Cobra.

Diwali/; Deepavali is One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance".

It's a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, notably Newar Buddhists. The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November). 

The festival is widely associated with Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity, with many other regional traditions connecting
theholidayto Sita and Rama, Vishnu, Krishna, Yama, Yami, Durga, Kali, Hanuman, Ganesha, Kubera, Dhanvantari, or Vishvakarman.

Dusshera is very closely associated with agricultural operations.It often denotes the conclusion of the monsoon season and the beginning of the cooler winter season. Farmers often begin harvesting the Kharif crop after Dussehra and prepare to plant the Rabi crop.

Vijayadashami or Dussehra, actually marks two celebrations in India, first is the victory of Rama over Ravana, and the second is the victory of goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. 

Dussehra is a ten-day-long celebration period, celebrated across the nation, and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
