March 3, 2024, World Wildlife Day reminds us to connect People and Planet by exploring digital innovation in wildlife conservation. In association with World Wildlife Day, MVR Snake Park and Zoo organized a mass wall painting campaign- ‘LIENZO’. The campaign was inaugurated by MVR Snake Park and Zoo Director Prof. E. Kunhiraman. The program aimed to engage the public community in artistic expression while delivering a crucial message about protecting wildlife and their habitats. Sri. Govindan Kannapuram, Sri. Tinu.K.R and Sri. Shyju Maloor, the famous artists who are the pioneers in the field of art were the special guests of the event and they headed the campaign. Sourav. V, Surya Anand, Dinukruti Vaishnavi, S.Prithika, Sruthy Sankar were the guest artists from NIFT, Kannur. The event provided a platform for students and public for nurturing their talents by using a public platform. The Veterinary Officer Dr. Anju Mohan presided over the function. Zoo Curator Mr. Amaljiith. A.T and Artist Namitha Sandeep gave felicitation. Zoo Education Officer Miss. Deena. P.N delivered welcome speech and Zoo Supervisor Sri. Sudhakaran.T.V concluded the session.

PAHAADI KI KAHAANI – 11/12/2023 International Mountain Day was celebrated by organizing a short trip to Kudiyanmala by MVR Snake Park and Zoo. The trip raised awareness among the public about the perseverance of Mountains and their conservation for a better future. Staff from MVR Snake Park and Zoo and students of MVR Ayurveda Medical College headed the journey.

അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര പർവ്വത ദിനത്തോട് അനുബന്ധിച്ചു എം വി ആർ സ്നേക്ക് പാർക്ക് ആൻഡ് സൂ, കുടിയാന്മലയിലേക്ക് ബോധവത്കരണ യാത്ര സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. രാവിലെ 8.30 നു ധർമ്മശാലയിൽ നിന്നും ആരംഭിച്ച യാത്രയിൽ ബോധവത്കരണ ക്ലാസ്സ്, പ്രശ്നോത്തരി, ചിത്രം തിരിച്ചറിയൽ മത്സരം തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ പരിപാടികൾ നടത്തി. പർവ്വതങ്ങളുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി പൊതുജനങ്ങളെ ബോധവൽക്കരിക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ നടത്തിയ കെ.എസ്.ആർ .ടി. സി യാത്രയിൽ എം വി ആർ സ്നേക്ക് പാർക്ക് ആൻഡ് സൂവിലെ ജീവനക്കാരും, എം വി ആർ ആയുർവേദ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും ആതിഥേയത്വം വഹിച്ചു.
ഡയറക്ടർ പ്രൊഫ. ഇ. കുഞ്ഞിരാമൻ മുഖ്യ പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തി. പാമ്പുകളെ കുറിച്ചും, പാമ്പു കടി ഏറ്റാൽ ഉടനടി ചെയ്യേണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചും സൂ കീപ്പർ ജയേഷ് യാത്രക്കാരുടെ സംശയങ്ങൾ ദൂരീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് , അവർക്കു പുതിയ അറിവുകൾ നൽകി. സൂ ജീവനക്കാരും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും, ഡയറക്ടറും ഉൾപ്പടെ 20 - ഓളം പേരാണ് കെ.എസ്.ആർ .ടി. സി യാത്രകാർക്കൊപ്പം പങ്കുചേർന്നത്. 11 മണിയോടെ കുടിയാന്മലയിൽ നിന്നും തിരികെയുള്ള യാത്രയിലും ബോധവത്കരണ ക്ലാസ് തുടർന്നു. പർവതങ്ങളുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി നാം ചെയ്യേണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും, മാലിന്യ സംസ്കരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുമുള്ള വിവരണക്കുറിപ്പ് യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. പർവ്വതങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രശ്നോത്തരിയിലും, ചിത്രം തിരിച്ചറിയൽ മത്സരത്തിലും യാത്രക്കാർ ഉത്സാഹത്തോടെ പങ്കുചേർന്നു. മത്സരത്തിലെ വിജയികൾക്ക് ഡയറക്ടർ പ്രൊഫ. ഇ. കുഞ്ഞിരാമൻ സമ്മാനം നൽകി. രസകരമായ കഥകളിലൂടെയും പാട്ടുകളിലൂടെയും കളിചിരികളിലൂടെയും, ഏവർക്കും അറിവും സന്തോഷവും പകർന്നുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഈ കൊച്ചു യാത്ര 'പഹാഡി കി കഹാനി'.

എം.വി.ആർ സ്നേക്ക് പാർക്കിൽ 'കമല' എന്ന കാട്ടുപാമ്പിന്‌ വിരിഞ്ഞത് പത്ത് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ ,നവാതിഥികൾ ആഘോഷത്തിമിർപ്പിൽ .

പറശ്ശിനിക്കടവ് എം വി ആർ സ്‌നേക്ക് പാർക്ക് & സൂ വിലെ കമല , ദേവൻ എന്ന് പേരിട്ട കാട്ടുപാമ്പ് അഥവാ മോണ്ടെയ്ൻ ട്രിങ്കറ്റ് സ്‌നേക്കിന്റെ (Coelognathus helena monticollaris) 10 മുട്ടകളാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം വിരിഞ്ഞത്. ആഗസ്റ്റ് 30 നാണ് മുട്ടകളിട്ടത്. 80 ദിവസത്തിനു ശേഷം മുട്ടകൾ വിരിഞ്ഞു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരടിയോളം നീളമാണുള്ളത്.എല്ലാ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും പൂർണ്ണ ആരോഗ്യത്തോടെയിരിക്കുന്നു.
6 മുതൽ 12 മുട്ടകൾ വരെ ഇടുന്നവയാണ് കാട്ടുപാമ്പുകൾ. പരമാവധി നീളം 1.5 മീറ്റർ .മുട്ട വിരിഞ്ഞു കുഞ്ഞു പുറത്തു വരാൻ കുറഞ്ഞത് രണ്ടു മാസം വേണ്ടിവരും. മുട്ടയിടുന്ന ഇനമായതിനാൽ ഇവയെ ഓവോ വിവി പാരിറ്റി വിഭാഗത്തിലാണ് ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത് . തവിട്ടു നിറമുള്ള ഇവയുടെ ശരീരത്തിനു കുറുകെയായി കറുപ്പും വെള്ളയും ഇടവിട്ടുള്ള വീതിയുള്ള വളയങ്ങൾ കാണാം. ശരീരത്തിൽ ഈ വളയങ്ങൾ കാണപെടുന്നത് കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ പലപ്പോഴും ഇവയെ വിഷപാമ്പായി തെറ്റുദ്ധരിക്കാറുണ്ട്. അപായ ഘട്ടങ്ങളിൽ ആക്രമണ സ്വഭാവം കാണിക്കാറുള്ള ഇവ ചുരുണ്ട് ശത്രുവിനു നേരേ തലയുയർത്തി ചാടിക്കടിക്കുന്നവയാണ്. ഇരകളെ വരിഞ്ഞുമുറുക്കി കൊന്നാണ് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. എലികളെ പ്രധാന ആഹാരമാക്കുന്നയിവ IUCN റെഡ് ഡാറ്റ ബുക്കിൽ ഷെഡ്യൂൾ 3 പാർട്ട് 1 ൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

2023 ജനുവരി മുതൽ നിരവധി പുതിയ അതിഥി കൾ പാമ്പു വളർത്തുകേന്ദ്ര ത്തിലെ കുടുംബത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തിയിരുന്നു. 'കല്യാണി' എന്ന നീർക്കോലിയുടെ കു ഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ, റാൻ, ഇവ, നോവ എന്ന എമുക്കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ, കേശു എന്ന തൊപ്പിക്കുരങ്ങ്, ബെല്ല എന്ന മണ്ണൂലി പാമ്പി ന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ, വാസുകി, മാനസ എന്നീ അണലി പാമ്പി ന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ.'കാ ' എന്ന പെ രുമ്പാമ്പിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ , ഒടുവിലായി കമല , ദേവൻ എന്ന കാട്ടുപാമ്പിൻറെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ കൂടി എത്തിയതോടെ സന്ദർശകർക്ക് കൂടുതൽ കാഴ്ചവിരുന്നൊരുങ്ങും.

The National Wildlife Week is celebrated from the 2nd to the 8th of October every year in India. As a part of Wildlife Week Celebrations, UNITE FOR BIG CATS Campaign was held in MVR Snake Park and zoo on October 8th. The zoo witnessed a sensational closing ceremony of the week by having 35 pairs of twins from Kadambur Higher Secondary School also our charming zoo ambassador kids as participants. The event was initiated by a valedictory function followed by an oath-taking ceremony, a big cat quiz session, a zoo visit, and hand printing by students. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Muraleedharan. A. K, Principal MVR Ayurveda Medical College following felicitations by Anusree Ashok, Assistant Professor, Department of Forestry, MVR Institute of Life Science and Research Studies, and Mr.Lajith Kumar. P.K, Teacher and Scout Master, Kadambur School. The academic session was handled by Mr. David Raju, a prominent naturalist and wildlife photographer who works at CGH Earth. The session raised awareness among students about conserving big cats by knowing more about their habitat and ecology.

About Snake Park

Parassinkkadavu Snake Park is located in Anthoor Municipality about 16 kilometres from the Kannur district of north Kerala, in south India. The Snake Park is in Parassinikkadavu, which is 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) from National Highway (NH) 17, en route from Kannur to Taliparamba. The Snake Park, set up by the Visha Chikista Kendra, is regularly visited by both foreign and domestic tourists. The Kendra also offers effective treatment for snake bites. The Snake park exhibits a diverse species of Venomous and Non-Venomous snakes, and animals of other taxa providing great opportunity for Students, Children and other visitors to learn about Snakes and its importance in Conservation.
