For us, at the kennel, the Monday after the new year is our "New year day" . Our 1st of January moment, comes a bit late. Where everyone rests, breathes easy, sleeps a little longer, lingers outside a little longer.
Admist a busy Christmas and New Year rush, 1st of Jan is just a date, but work continues like it was on 31st Dec.
Lists and lists and more lists. Has she played, did he swim, was a bath done, medication done.
Micromanaging every little detail takes a toll. Keeping everyone's spirit up, making sure each hnadlet gets a sufficient break, making sure no one from the team is falling sick, is all a part of the daily jobs.
This year felt more tough as the sun shone down on us like fire. Admist coolers and wet wipes and iced coffees, lunches were more quiet than chitty chatty.
The winter, which came disguised as summer, played a number on all of us.
And in all this fanfare arrives the 1st Monday post the new year and our team sits, chilling around.
Thank you, once again, for a fabulous season. Thank you, once again, for trusting us. Thank you, once again, for the love.
