This is how Vindi was brought all the way from Vindhyachal in Mirzapur to Aashray Varanasi by a kind volunteer Ajay Mukherjee more than 2 months ago.Initially it seemed that Vindi’s one eye had also gone due to spread of tumour. It has taken consistent care, chemotherapy, healthy diet & medicine which has almost made him normal BUT I don’t think we can send him back on the street & die hungry & sick. We’re an unaided NGO and everything on our own hence look forward to your financial support 🙏🙏

Vaccination for dogs is of utmost importance as they help prepare a dog's immune system to defend itself from any invasion of disease-causing organisms.

We at Aashray, all our dogs are vaccinated with the prescribed vaccines such as the anti-rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine among others.

Aashray is involved in catching and neutering stray dogs in Varanasi. Yesterday this procedure was carried out near the Surya hotel colony.

Neutering has multiple benefits apart from reducing reproduction among strays which include the risk of testicular/vaginal cancer being eliminated and reduces the likelihood of roaming which reduces vehicular accidents.

The government is in favour of neutering as it is the most humane way to control the stray population in India.

Kallu is a doberman x mongrel who was found near the ring road. He was abandoned due to his acute arthritis. Aashray has been helping him to recover by giving him nutritious food and medication.

Your prayers and help would be much appreciated and would go a long way in helping Kallu.

Abandoned cows and calves are a common sight on the streets of India. The human greed and insensitivity leads them to a life of uncertainty. Separated from their mothers & thrown on the road, mostly right after they are born, these innocent calves learn to live on the streets, without realising that life is always under threat. The one pictured here was resting on the road side when a reckless speeding driver crushed his leg & didn’t even bother to stop & see.
When reported, Aashray ambulance rescued him, the Vet had to do an urgent surgery & since then a regular dressing.
Hoping for his recovery, please send your prayers and good wishes for him.

Established in 2011, Aashray since its humble beginnings has come a long way in helping the animals of Varanasi.
The most recent renovation works which took place at the shelter will facilitate the welfare work being carried out in a much better way. Ensuring the comfort of animals and adhering to the most recent AWBI standards.

Despite our best efforts the most recent renovations were financed out of our very own pockets. Add to that, running a shelter comes with its own set of fixed expenses. Right from medicines to food bills and salaries. As a result, we at times despite not wanting to, have to refuse certain requests. Because those who report such cases expect us to help the animals completely free of cost. When all we ask of you is to simply bear the ambulance transportation cost.
Please note, we are not a government funded body which gets unlimited public money or private donations. We are, for the most part, a self funded organization which is trying to do the best in the limited resources it has.

This is something where we need the support of our fellow citizens. Your smallest of contributions help us in a big way.
How you can contribute?
-Donate, funds or items from our amazon wishlist.

-Foster the animals under our care and help them nourish back to health.

-Adopt, an adoption not only helps finding an animal a loving home, but also frees up the resources which can be put to use for helping another animal in need.

-Volunteer, from time to time we need individuals who can help us with the shelter work. It can be taking photographs or managing the workspace. If you have the determination to help the animals and some free time...we would be happy to have you at the shelter.

A frail, skinny & sweet mother that she is but her three pups are healthy, velvety soft, playful and lovely. She had made a pit in a residential colony, park and had kept the pups away from all kinds of threats but on Jan 2 there was an unexpected heavy downpour and the pit was all submerged. I along with a kind lady brought them to my house, dried them and kept them safe and later brought them to Aashray( in Varanasi) where they are living safely but Aashray has a capacity for limited dogs - which are sick, blind, amputated limbs, paralysed and very old. PLEASE COME FORWARD, ADOPT THEM, GIVE THEM A PLACE IN YOUR LIFE & HOME & MAKE YOUR LIFE HAPPIER🙏

Grand old monkey..he needed a permanent home to spend rest of his life peacefully. Here at Aashray he won’t have to worry about his food, water & protection. Like old human, old animal too has to face loneliness and health issues..need your care n compassion…

This kitten seems to be someone’s pet, just brought by two students from Sadar area of Varanasi. The way she’s moving all over my house, not scared at all even though she has some injury in her front paw she’s active and playful.
She deserves to have a loving home. INTERESTED PLEASE contact ( Varanasi only)

This diseased cow was rescued from airport parking; had an overgrown rotten hoof due to an accident. The vet had to surgically remove the rotting part due to which the cow was in constant pain. It took a while to finish off the treatment and dressing; and may take 2-3 weeks of antibiotics & dressing for her to get normal. Thank you Aashray staff for your dedication 🙏👌

We call her Doggie, she is old has some neuro disorder but life still was normal for her till another suffering hit her. She developed a tumour which grew bigger day by day. Vet surgeon was apprehensive to put her on the operation table as she might not survive the surgery as the tumour was quite big, could cause excessive bleeding. Anyways he took a chance, removed the tumour and put her on 2 weeks strong medicine. Against all odds Doggie survived, improved day by day and now she’s a regular member of Aashray family, enjoying life with other dogs.
A lot to learn from these animals…
