Beak fracture in a Ruppel’s Vulture (Gyps rueppelli). The fracture was fixed with a resin in order to avoid a complete avulsion. After few weeks the beak grows back perfectly!

Few days ago 41 Spix macaws went back to Brazil. This incredible result was achieved after years thanks to an hard work.
Fortunately I had the opportunity to spend some times with these unique birds and give my very little contribution as a vet to preserve this species.

Fiocco is a young Ducorps Cockatoo (Cacatua ducorpsii) come to a visit for abdominal neoplasm. After diagnostics, we discover there was an hernia and a lipoma together. A surgery plan was prepared for him, but at first attempt, with our routine anesthetic protocol, Fiocco had a lot of respiratory problems… so we decide to stop the procedure and schedule it again after one week!
Now the surgery is done and Fiocco is back to his family for a recovery period!

Fiocco arrivato in clinica per una neoformazione addominale che è risultata essere un ernia complicata dalla presenza di un lipoma. Dopo un primo approccio chirurgico non andato a buon fine a causa di problematiche respiratorie legate ad un effetto inaspettato dell’anestesia, siamo riusciti a risolvere il problema di Fiocco che ora è tornato alle cure amorevoli della sua famiglia.

Very bad fracture in this two months old Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicintus).
This is Sirius a young Harris hawk with a fracture of the tibiotarsal bone… unfortunately the fracture was old and the bone ossified in a very bad position with a deviation and rotation of the foot…
After surgery, in which we broke the bone and reposition it, we also made a corrective bandage…

Emú belongs to Casuariidae family, and can reach 55kg of weight, they are, of course, flightless birds…
