š¦Tuesday Training Tip: Thanksgiving Edition!š¦
Thanksgiving means full plates, full houses, and full hearts, but it can also mean *temptations* for curious noses and paws! Here are 3 quick tips to help your dog stay calm, happy, and polite during the holiday chaos:
1. Practice Place Training Before the Feast:
Teach your pup to relax on their bed or mat while the foodās on the table. Use treats or a stuffed Kong to keep them busy and reinforce calm behavior.
2. Prep for Doorbell Distractions:
Holiday guests mean extra commotion at the door! Before Thanksgiving, practice calm greetings; reward your dog for sitting or staying as the door opens. This helps prevent jumping, barking, or dashing out in excitement.
3. Create a āCalm Cornerā:
Between the noise, smells, and guests, even the friendliest dogs can get overstimulated. Set up a cozy retreat with their favorite blanket, chew, and soft music. Let them decompress there when things get busy. A relaxed dog is a happy dog!
āØRemember, training during the holidays isnāt about perfection, itās about setting your pup up for success and keeping the season joyful for everyone.
