OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Obedience training, which teaches your puppy basic commands and good behaviour, is essential for a well-behaved pup! 🐶🦮 Obedience training builds a strong bond and strengthens your relationship with your pup. It ensures safety, as well-trained dogs respond to commands in dangerous situations. Additionally, there are social benefits, as this helps your puppy interact well with other dogs and people.

Here I am enjoying this amazing ambiance with these 2 shaggy wags, Maxi and Tuli.

I came specifically for Maxi as she seemed to be slowing down, a bit lame and unwilling to go up and down the stairs… turns out she was positive for tick fever, a tick borne infection that affects the blood cells leading to anemia, a low platelet count, possible bleeding, fever, lameness, inappetence and them just not feeling quite well.

Dogs can be positive for tick fever, even when they seem okay and it only takes 1 infected tick to transmit the disease… they don't necessarily have to have a tick infestation.

For that reason it's always a good idea to have your dog screen for tick fever once a year to ensure he/ she hasn't been infected with this common disease

As a owner it's important to give your the opportunity to live its best life with you. Dogs want nothing more than to be with you, in your company, by your side, at all times, and if you can offer that, they will be forever grateful.

They aren't called for nothing!

Meet Pizza Steve, he is a beautiful who was rescued and is doing great.

Jamaican Iguanas are endemic or native to and are unfortunately now critically endangered and confined to the forests of the Hellshire Hills. They were even thought to be extinct  between the period of 1948 to 1990.

The major reason for their decline was due to the introduction of the small Asian mongoose in an effort to control the snake population. The mongoose in turn preyed mainly on Iguana hatchlings and ultimately became an invasive species.

Check out the recovery efforts of the Headstart Facility at the where the hatchlings are reared until they are strong enough and large enough to no longer be vulnerable to predators like the Mongoose.

Thank you .876 for the opportunity to meet Pizza Steve

So maybe your cat had and for whatever reason she's not able to nurse her kittens, or there is a weak kitten that needs supplemental milk, or you find yourself a young orphaned kitten… you are going to need to bottle feed this kitten, keep it warm, and stimulate it to wee and p**p just like its mom would do.

You will need a . There are commercial kitten milk replacers available, but they can be hard to find locally. So what do you do? Make a homemade replacement formula. Kittens have unique nutritional needs and it is important that they receive a suitable replacement milk.

Generally whole goat's milk is best as the composition and milk proteins are closer to cat's milk, as opposed to cow's milk, which will be harder for your young kitten to digest. If cow's milk is used try to use homogenized (the one in the bottle) not pasteurized (the one in the box) and only use it for emergency purposes and not for long term bottle feeding.

Hope you find this info useful and stay tuned for my next post on milk replacement formula.

Nothing makes a 's day like an armful of sweetness.

, Saint and Akira, got their vet check and the okay for their 3rd puppy vaccine

Their last and 4th puppy vaccine will be due in another 3 weeks, then they will be good to go!

Puppies should start their vaccination series around 6 to 8 weeks old and vaccination repeated every 3 to 4 weeks until about 18 weeks old

Is your puppy fully vaccinated?

My muses, Eddie & Luna ❤️

If these were my dogs this is exactly how they would look… the epitome of good health and wellbeing. It's what happens when you and your client are on the same page and they follow your instructions to a T 👌🏼

I have been seeing them since they were brought home as new puppies that needed to continue their vaccination series. I continue to provide routine veterinary care for them and veterinary advice to their pet parents, especially Mom, who has been doing an awesome job holding down the fort!

From completing their entire vaccination series; to maintaining them on their preventative flea and tick treatments and heartworm prevention; to following specific holistic health & nutrition advice; and following through with treatments for specific medical conditions.

These two dogs are the prime example of dedicated, loving pet parents

Today they are 10 months old and with &

This majestic is getting his Annual Wellness Exam. He was found to be healthy on his veterinary physical exam; was tested for (a potentially fatal disease caused by worms infecting the heart and large vessels of the lungs), which he was negative for, administered his bimonthly Heartworm prevention injection, and treated for gastrointestinal worms.

Vet visits aren't just for juvenile immunizations or when an animal is sick. Adult pets should also receive regular veterinary checkups, even if they appear to be healthy. Oftentimes a simple veterinary physical exam of your pet will reveal minor health issues that can easily be  managed before they turn into severe diseases that are difficult and expensive to treat.

For example, a seemingly healthy young dog may test positive for heartworm disease and the disease can be treated before severe lung disease and heart failure ensues; plaque build-up on teeth may be removed and recommendations made for maintenance before periodontal disease develops; a mild ear infection might be detected and treated before it progresses to a severe ear infection, which can become complicated with maggot wounds to the ear from excessive scratching or aural hematoma (ballooning of ear flap with blood due to ruptured blood vessels) from excessive head shaking, which requires surgery to repair; tick and flea infestations that can lead to tick fever (bacterial disease spread by the bite of infected ticks) and several types of skin infections; and the list goes on and on!

I strongly believe Prevention is always better (and more economical) than cure and strive to keep animals Happy, Healthy and Thriving!

Gaucamole update!

First slide - 2nd beak trim
Second slide - 1st beak trim
Third slide - pre-trim

Almost back to normal! Taking it nice and slow to avoid any pain, discomfort, or bleeding

We'll be seeing Gauc in the new year for an assessment and 3rd trim

… In the meantime, he's getting used to an addition of fresh fruits and veggies to the diet and lots of new foraging toys and natural branches to get him used to self-trimming
