I haven’t shared publicly my work with the “oddball” project since 2018. After extensive testing with all known and available eye traits including cipher I can confirm that it is indeed unique and heritable.

“Oddball” darkens the overall pigment of the gecko in a similar yet opposite way to how white and yellow lightens the pigment. It also changes the banding on the tail with no individuals expressing bands and all others displaying a striped or aberrant appearance that always is black along the side, even “wrapping” around to the underside on many individuals. Legs and feet are darkened expressing heavy melanin and very little white pigment is visible on the tops and sides of the body. There is no visible neckband in hatchlings and it’s always irregular and “broken” up. In regards to the eye they have a solid appearing black eye that on close inspection can be differentiated from eclipse and cipher. All eyes appear as solid and there is no partial “eclipsing”. The iris is slightly visible in some individuals and I’ve produced some geckos with enlarged eyes in comparison to normal proportions, but that is being worked on and I believe it to not have any adverse impact on the animals health and well-being.

“Oddballs” where originally born weak and small. Many died within the first few months and they grew slowly. However, after selectively working with the strongest individuals I now believe I have a stable and healthy base to move forward with.

There’s still work to do incorporating the gene into my favoured projects, that work has already started and the results are exciting to say the least.

But, I think the potential I’m seeing, warrants my continued work with the gene.

Super Yeti! (Super Mack snow Rainwater Blizzard eclipse)

This Rainwater morph of the Diablo blanco (Tremper albino) and White Knight (Bell albino) has the darker eyes associated with the Rainwater gene. Combined with the co-dominant Mack snow gene, you get a stunningly white gecko, with eyes that appear to be solid black. However, the eyes are a really, really dark wine/blood red.

My definition of a perfect “pied” super snow eclipse.

When selective breeding I’m not looking for the most white individuals as we already have morphs that cover that particular look.
I’m looking for the perfect balance of patterned areas and white patches, hence the name “pied”.

I’ve produced what others label “extreme pied” but I’ve tried to move away from that look by not using that particular phenotype as one of my breeding animals.

This is one of my female holdbacks from last year. She’s in the middle of her egg laying season so not at her best, but I thought I’d share as her beauty caught my eye whilst collecting her eggs.

The quest for the greenest leopard gecko continues!

Using wild caught bloodline and lavender stripe I started the army green project many generations ago. Tangerine was added to the project in 2014 and I’ve been line breeding for green each generation.

A good army green should have a darker shade of green compared with an emerine (or other similar line). Complimented with rusty toned bands/patches that vary from brown/red, yellow/orange. The green should extend into the tail and in the best examples on the legs also.
Black spotting should be present giving the gecko an overall camouflage look with the green and darker tone oranges along with the black.
