Dewey’s story isn’t defined by an acronym — it’s defined by resilience, warmth, and an incredible capacity for love 🐾💛

Despite testing positive for FIV, Dewey is still patiently waiting for a family who can see him for who he truly is. He never chose a life outdoors, fighting to survive and protect himself day after day. Yet he persevered long enough to find his way indoors, where he’s finally discovered soft beds, gentle hands, full bowls, and the comfort of human connection 🏡✨

FIV isn’t the end of Dewey’s story. It’s just a small footnote in a much bigger life filled with snuggles, purrs, and quiet companionship. If you’re looking for the most affectionate, friendly, cuddle-loving boy to add to your family, Dewey is ready to fill that space in your heart 🤍🐱

A happy update on two foster fails 💛🐾

Take, now Tomatillo, and Rudy, now Lime, officially made their foster homes permanent after fitting just a little too perfectly into their families’ lives nearly a year apart from each other! What started as temporary care quickly turned into forever love, and neither their foster parents nor resident cats were willing to imagine life without them 🏡✨

Both boys gently (and sometimes mischievously) worked their way into every heart in the house, forming strong bonds with their humans and earning the trust and affection of their new feline siblings. Seeing them so loved, secure, and truly home reminds us why fostering matters so much 🐱💞

Stories like Tomatillo’s and Lime’s are a beautiful reminder that even the roughest beginnings can grow into lifelong happiness. Thank you to everyone who supports Kawakuji, through fostering, sharing, donating, or simply cheering these cats on. Every bit of love helps create more endings like this 🤍

Kawakuji continues our TNR efforts as the year winds down 🐾❄️

Today, six community cats were safely trapped and taken in for their spay and neuter surgeries. It’s not their favorite day, and we know they’re feeling stressed right now, but this brief discomfort leads to a lifetime of benefits 💛

Once their surgeries are complete and they’ve received proper medication and recovery care, these cats will return to their familiar territories healthier, calmer, and no longer contributing to the endless cycle of suffering caused by uncontrolled breeding 🌱 Breaking that cycle means fewer kittens born into hardship and fewer cats struggling just to survive.

TNR is one of the most impactful things we do, and it’s only possible because of continued support from people who believe every life matters.
