Kicking off the season with a storm. It was a soggy start to our first safari of the season but as the weather now clears up the Mara is glistening green and the wildlife is abundant.

That’s a wrap for the summer season.

The horses have headed home to the green fields of Deloraine, camp has been packed up and sent out for maintenance, and the team are enjoying a very well deserved rest. Now it’s time to sit back and wait for the November rains to arrive…

This week we are in Laikipia…

Several times a year we transport all of our tents, tack and team up to Laikipia for a week or more to traverse this wild and secluded landscape.

With rolling hills, rocky kopjes and cedar forests, it is truly one of the most beautiful rides in the world. As for wildlife, Laikipia is home to all of the Big Five with a healthy population of both white and black rhino. The diversity of flora and fauna is awe-inspiring with many species endemic to the area like gerenuk, reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. We particularly recommend this trip to those who have ridden with us before.

If you would like to come and ride with us, in Laikipia or in the Masai Mara, please DM us here or email [email protected] for more information, rates & dates.

We run our Laikipia rides several times a year and they are always a highlight in the calendar.

Riding in the foothills of Mt Kenya, across endlessly beautiful and changing terrain, our 8 night-mobile riding safaris in Laikipia always leave us wanting for more. The wildlife is abundant and also different to the Mara. As well as all of the usual suspects, in Laikipia we are lucky to find wildlife specific to the region such as reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra as well as white rhino and wild dog.

We have some availability on our Laikipia ride from the 8th-16th February 2025. Please DM us here or email [email protected] for more information.

It’s a family affair…

Here is our lead mare, Chyulu, on safari with her children and grandchildren. Chyulu is one of our lead horses and is one of the very bravest in our string. We are so lucky that we have so many of her offspring in our lineup as her strength, courage & attitude have been passed down through the generations. After all, bravery is bred.

Chyulu (centre) is pictured here with her two sons, Mzima & Tsavo, and with Mzima’s offspring, Shamrock, Poppadom & Ricochet.

Our traditional mobile canvas safari camp captured by

Every two nights, our camp is completely dismantled, trucked up to 50kms distance, unpacked and reassembled in a new, and evermore beautiful, location.

We sleep in spacious canvas tents, with cosy beds, hot showers and everything you could need on an adventure such as ours. We have three-course dinners under the stars each night and there’s a hot water bottle waiting when it’s time to go to bed. Our horses sleep on a picket line close by and we fall asleep to the sound of them munching hay and the hyenas whooping in the darkness beyond.

If you would like to come and ride with us, please email [email protected].
