Both prolapses are associated with calving but each has very distinct causes and occurs at different times.

Dystocia.

This is any difficulty experienced during birth.
The are several cause of Dystocia. It can either be maternal or fetal causes.

Maternal causes include and not limited to ; incomplete opening of birth canal, exhaustion of dam, fractures or other injures that may occlude the birth canal and also physiological factors such as hormones insufficiency. Fetal factors may include too large fetuses, maldisposition and malpresentations of fetus also death of fetus in utero .

Incase of Dystocia , you are advised to call a qualified veterinarian inorder to access the case in time. Timely attendance to such cases improves the prognosis or survival of the mother and fetus.

The case below describes a typical case of a dead calf that had a fractured limb due to overzealous traction/pulling by owner that had also become emphysematous . Manual traction was successful after intervention by veterinarians.

Skin conditions.

There are many skin conditions and diseases affecting dogs all ranging from and not only Bacterial infection,mange , viral diseases and also fungal infections.
The case below shows a dog that had fungal infection (Mallasezia) has been sick over a period of time. On intervention antifungals (ketoconazole) and topical shampoo were used for treatment . After 4 weeks post treatment improvements were noted. "And now the dog has a good skin tone and moreso a ferocious appetite " owner.
This was after failed treatment that was initially thought to be mange , after two interval sampling still turned negative.

Advice
Ensure you bath your dogs with medicated shampoos in order to avoid such conditions and also it keeps your pets healthy.

LAMENESS

Lameness is a major constraint to Animal production. It is also a major concern to Animal welfare because of the intense pain it causes in animals.

Lameness usually cause losses through; cost of veterinary treatment, reduced production, reduced conception rates among other.
In Dairy production, it has been estimated to reduce milk production upto 1.7 to 3L per day, (Paul R. Greenough,2015).

Lameness is preventable to some extent through, regular trimming of overgrown hooves, early treatment of foot conditions and good husbandry practices in cow sheds .

It's important to liase with your veterinarian to archive this and also to reduce losses incured due to Lameness.

Regular hoof trimming of overgrown hooves is important!!!
