Dear Broiler Poultry Farmers,

I trust this communication finds you in good health and prosperity. I am writing to you today with a matter of utmost importance that pertains to biosecurity and responsible waste management within our community.

Recently, our attention was drawn to a critical issue by Mr. Joseph, a diligent Kenha policing employee who actively follows our updates on various social media platforms. Mr. Joseph has brought to our notice a concerning practice involving a local farmer who, post-broiler harvest, routinely disposes of broiler offals and carcasses by the roadside. This occurs consistently on the route from Kabati to the Delview Flyover or overpass.

As professionals dedicated to the well-being of poultry and the community, we emphasize the critical nature of responsible waste disposal within the poultry farming sector. Dumping broiler carcasses by the roadside not only violates environmental regulations but also jeopardizes biosecurity measures that are integral to the health and productivity of our poultry farms.

It is imperative that we, as responsible farmers, adhere to proper waste disposal practices to mitigate potential risks. Unattended carcasses attract scavengers and can become a breeding ground for diseases harmful to both poultry and human health.

In light of this, we urge all broiler poultry farmers to reevaluate and enhance their waste disposal methods. Consider adopting biosecure alternatives such as composting, on-farm burial, or utilizing local waste disposal services to ensure the safe and responsible disposal of broiler carcasses.

We appreciate the collaboration of individuals like Mr. Joseph, who play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our community and upholding biosecurity standards. It is only through collective responsibility that we can sustain a healthy and thriving poultry industry.

Let us commit to responsible waste management practices, ensuring the biosecurity of our farms and the well-being of our community. Your cooperation is not only appreciated but fundamental to the success and sustainability of our poultry farming endeavors.

Sincerely,

Lamwa Vetcare

Mistakes Farmers Make on Procuring| buying Livestock

As a veterinarian, I have seen farmers make some common mistakes when procuring livestock for their farms. It is important to keep in mind that the health and well-being of the animals should be the top priority.

One of the biggest mistakes is not doing proper research before buying. Farmers should ensure that the animals are of good quality, have a healthy history, and are suitable for their farm's environment. Another common mistake is neglecting to have a quarantine period for new animals. This can lead to the spread of diseases and can be harmful to other animals on the farm.
Farmers should not compromise on veterinary care to save money. Taking care of the animals' health is crucial to their growth and productivity.
By following these simple tips, https://youtu.be/VYfNCbCmxoY in the video you can enjoy the benefits of fresh, delicious eggs from your own chicken!
Remember, healthy animals mean a healthy farm!

"Why Artificial Insemination is the Future of Pig Breeding: A Lamwa Veterinarian's Recommendation"
Author Vetcare
As a veterinarian, https://www.facebook.com/Lamwa-Vetcare-302725856 I highly recommend artificial insemination (AI) in pigs for several reasons. First and foremost, AI provides a number of advantages over natural breeding. It allows for greater control over genetics, as farmers can select the best sires to produce high-quality piglets with desirable traits such as high meat yield, disease resistance, and fast growth rates. Additionally, AI can help to reduce the risk of transmitting diseases that can be spread through natural breeding.

Furthermore, AI can help to increase reproductive efficiency in pig herds. It enables farmers to breed more sows with fewer boars, which can lead to significant cost savings. Additionally, AI allows for better timing of breeding, as it can be done at the optimal time in the sow's estrus cycle, resulting in higher conception rates and fewer failed matings.

Another benefit of AI in pigs is that it can help to improve animal welfare. Natural breeding can be stressful and dangerous for both the sow and the boar, as they may become aggressive and injure each other. With AI, the process is much safer and less stressful for the animals, as they do not need to be physically present for the insemination to take place.

In conclusion, as a veterinarian, I strongly recommend AI in pigs as a safe, efficient, and cost-effective method of breeding. It offers a number of benefits over natural breeding, including greater control over genetics, increased reproductive efficiency, and improved animal welfare. How to Keep Your Flock Safe from Deadly Infectious Coryza| Proven Prevention& Treatment Strategies!

Hey there poultry farmers, did you know that chickens can get a cold too? Well, not exactly a cold, but a respiratory disease called infectious coryza. This disease is caused by the bacterium Avibacterium paragallinarum, which can quickly spread throughout a flock and lead to decreased egg production, decreased weight gain, and even death.

But don't worry, there are steps you can take to prevent and manage this pesky little bug! Practicing good biosecurity measures such as isolating new birds, disinfecting equipment, and controlling access to the farm can help limit the spread of the bacterium. Additionally, vaccinating your chickens against infectious coryza using a live-attenuated or killed bacterin vaccine can stimulate the production of protective antibodies in your feathered friends.

Management practices such as regular cleaning and disinfection of the chicken house, feeders, and waterers, as well as proper ventilation and reducing stocking density, can all help prevent the spread of the disease. And if an outbreak does occur, tag along your poultry veterinarian https://www.facebook.com/Lamwa-Vetcare-302725856
who'll help reduce the severity of the disease and limit the spread to other birds.

Remember, keeping your chickens healthy and productive requires a little bit of diligence and a lot of TLC. By taking these preventative measures, you can help ensure your feathered friends stay happy and healthy for years to come!

Why your Parent’s Poultry Business might go under this Christmas Holiday!
poultry farming kenya Digital Farmers Kenya
Christmas holiday means different things to different people. For instance, there are those who view it as a good time to reflect on their relationship with God. There are still others who take advantage of this period to take stock of the accomplishments that they have been made throughout the year. For most Kenyans, though, Christmas is a time when they tend to travel upcountry. It is a period when family members come together, mostly in rural areas, and catch up.
Undoubtedly, the year 2022 presented people with a host of challenges. There is nonetheless a clear indication that most people, especially those who didn’t visit their folks through the year, will be sure to travel to their rural areas this festive season. At Lamwa Vetcare https://www.facebook.com/Lamwa-Vetcare-302725856601646/ , we wish everyone happy travels.
Agribusiness is quite vibrant upcountry
The truth is that most agricultural activities in Kenya take place in rural areas. This is despite the World Bank’s program that facilitates the setting up of kitchen gardens in urban centers. The chances are that you find some form of agribusiness in your rural area. The most common one seems to be poultry keeping. If you are not careful during this festive season, you might end up harming such agribusinesses after visiting your rural area.
You see, agribusiness is a business just like any other. You have to get the inputs right in order to get the right value of output. While this is true, folks from the urban centers do not seem to understand this. Rural folks seem to be quite generous. Parents, in particular, have a big heart. I would even dare say that they have a soft spot for their children and grandkids. Unfortunately, the urban folks seem to exploit this kindness.
The magnanimous nature of rural folks
The excitement that comes with Christmas holiday sometimes makes rural folks extra-generous. It is quite common for urban folks to leave upcountry carrying all manner of agricultural produce. In most cases, they get such agricultural produce for free. We all know too well that there are different costs that are involved in agricultural production. https://youtu.be/rfbCjxy1do0 Therefore, getting such agricultural produce for free will most assuredly strain your folk’s agribusiness.
One might argue that the visitors, in this case, the urban folks, usually bring some shopping at home. Bringing shopping to rural folks is a noble thing, one that we even encourage at Lamwa Vetcare. Regrettably, by the time the urban folks leave the rural area, they are normally through with spending the shopping they had brought with them. Therefore, such shopping cannot offset the value of the agricultural produce that they take back to the city.
Be considerate of the agribusiness in your rural area
We strongly encourage you to be considerate about the agribusiness of your folks at home. For instance, if you carry a tray of eggs, be sure to pay for it. You can surely afford KES 400. Your parents might not ask you for the money, but please insist on paying for it. If they are adamant about taking your money then, you can volunteer to buy feed or other inputs that go into the production of the products that you wish to take back to the city. Happy holidays everyone, and remember your folk’s agribusiness might depend on your actions this festive season!
