🐾 Peek a boo!

So many pagoda cat's playing peek a boo today! How many do you see?

The pagoda floods constantly at the moment, so the cats all stay up on higher ground near the temple...while I'm walking in bare feet trying not to slip over. Actually I think I heard them say to be careful as I'm carrying their food.

How often should I feed my dog?🐕

✅The biological evolution of dogs as hunters has given them specialized digestive and gastrointestinal adaptations that allow them to ingest a large meal followed by up to days of not eating. However, for most pet dogs, feeding once or twice per day is recommended. Many dogs will benefit from eating equally divided meals two to three times per day.
✅Regardless of the feeding schedule you choose, avoid allowing your dog to exercise vigorously after consuming a large meal, especially if your dog eats its food rapidly. This will help minimize problems with bloat, intestinal obstruction, or other serious digestive disorders.
✅Be sure your dog has access to fresh, clean water at all times.

Rainy season is here, and it can be a stressful season for your pets. So, here are some tips to keep your pet healthy during this wet and gloomy season.

1. Keep your pet warm, dry and clean: Due to excessive amount to humidity in this season, it is important to make sure that your furry friend is dry and warm to prevent them from cool and bacterial or fungal infections. It’s a good idea to cover their paws when they are going out or clean them up thoroughly after a walk to void contracting germs from outside.

2. Beware of ticks & fleas: This season is the perfect breeding time for ticks and fleas, so your pets are more likely to be infected. Regular grooming, cleaning and some prevention medications may help to keep them safe from these pests.

3. Look out for Illness: Rain could be a fun experience for you and your pets. However, prolonging rainy days could disturb your pets’ healthy habits and exercise, and as days pass by, your pet may show some signs of anxiety and depression. Make sure you provide them with nutrient-rich food and high fiber diet, and incorporate indoor exercise and fun activities to keep their mood up and prevent any stomach problems.

4. Beware of loud noises: Thunderstorm may occur frequently during this time that scares your pets and make them restless. So, make sure to calm them down.

We talk a lot about the Rule of 3s for Rescued Dogs. The idea that it takes 3 days for a rescued dog to take a breath in their new environment, 3 weeks for them to finally start feeling safe and secure, and 3 months for them to learn new routines and boundaries. We tell this to rescued dog adopters all the time. But what we fail to mention is this applies to almost any major change in a dog's environment.

When we move it is a stressful experience for us as humans, so many things to do, so much chaos. We can forget that it's also an extremely stressful situation for our dogs, after all they know how freaked out we are, and they don't have the advantage of understanding why. They know they suddenly live in a brand new location, but do not have the advantage of understanding this too is now home. And so on. So it can be easy to forget that dogs might need time to adjust to their new living situation.

This applies to changes in home dynamics as well. A divorce, or bringing home a new baby, adopting a new pet etc. All these major changes to a dog's living environment can take TIME for a dog to adjust to, and fully settle into. Something to keep in mind!

I get so much joy from watching . This happened in bed last night (right next to me) after their lovey-dovey session. Shimmy left the bed, came back, and was in the mood to play. Mambo was undecided; he kept looking at me.
As it so happens, I had trouble sleeping last night and was lying in bed for hours thinking thinking thinking. The final copy edited manuscript of is due next week! I think I may have some anxiety about what stays, what goes, what can be changed, and what can’t!
