Update for Bunny!
We finally have a diagnosis for Bunny's condition! Over the past month she went over 8 times to the vet, in consultations and ER! Her condition is called portal systemic shunt causing her convulsive epileptic crisis due to hepatic encephalopathy. In non medical terms, the toxins from food that should be filtered by the liver from the gut, are failing to do so, which causes her brain to get poisoned and get epileptic convulsions. 😿 I've been with her non stop 24/7 this WE making sure I'm there during her convulsions giving her diazepam to calm it. Her treatment consists of lactulose and gut antibiotic to reduce the liver toxins, and special hepatic food I'm getting her tomorrow. Good news is she is better, not in pain, purring today ❤🙏. She will need this treatment regularly. We do not know what caused this if it's genetic, eventually a liver MRI could be made to see if the blood vessels to the liver can be repaired by surgery, but it would be a most delicate one as her blood vessels are extremely fragile.
