They will be moved into the new dog house at 10 weeks then leaving at 12 weeks….yoohooo!!!

5 weeks old and momma is still happily nursing❤️

Taking care of a nursing dame is one of the many little pleasures in my life😊. Most breeders cant keep pups on momma at this stage but the importance is immeasurable. Puppies need time to develop their digestive systems before introducing solid food. Introducing solid foods too soon stresses underdeveloped systems, causing many health issues including suseptibility to pathogens like parvo.

Raising healthy puppies is key to raising healthy dogs. It all starts in the whelping box🐾❤️

What sets us apart from other breeders…

The puppies are 4 weeks old, eyes are open and starting to play. Still strickly nursing on mom and will continue up until 8 weeks of age when we will introduce the puppy “pudding”.
Mom is taking in a lot of calories right now to keep up with these growing pups; as well as probiotics, a high quality daily supplement and electrolytes; as well as raw liver and eggs for iron and much needed fats. This is a very important time for all of them as they require not just calories but added vitamins, minerals, trace minerals and good quality fats.
Most owners and breeders dont recogize the importance of adding supplements and especially electrolytes, greens and fats to their breeding program. Most pet stores dont even carry electrolytes for dogs, yet its crucial in proper development of all organs, glands and especially the central nervous system.
Even a good quality kibble requires adding these nutrients because most nutritional additives are destroyed in the processing of cooked kibble. In addition to losing the nutritional value during this process, kibble does not have proper electrolyte balance for growth, development or maintenance; or the healthy fats needed to meet the demands of milk production. In order to raise healthy pupppies and to maintain the health of a nursing bitch it is crucial to take special care in a proper feeding program.
When the puppies’ digestive systems are fully developed and ready to digest the puppy gruel, I use only natural and appropriate ingredients. A staple in all feeding programs requires the addition of high quality vitamins and minerals, raw egg for fat and raw liver to boost their iron levels. For the immune system and a healthy microbiome I use spirulina, pumpkin and an added probiotic.
Most importantly we do not add what most breeders add to their puppy gruel…if they even make it in house. Most people would be shocked to learn that some breeders start their puppies on gruel at 4 weeks and sometimes sooner! This is way too early due to the immaturity of their digestive systems which is evident in the lack of teeth at this stage. Additionally most breeders add toxic and unnecessary ingredients like rice bran, karo syrup, “milk” formula with preservatives and added sweetener’s and a whole list of unnecessary bulking additives while forgetting about the necessary required nutrients.
The key to raising healthy puppies is knowing when to start them on solid food and what nutrients they need for proper development and a strong immune system, and how to properly nourish the bitch so she can maintain a milk supply for puppies up to 8 weeks❤️

Litter #1 was such a huge success in terms of placement into wonderful homes and from owner feedback after a year of age, that we had to go for a 2nd litter!!

Raising puppies is no small feat. And raising healthy puppies means turning up that dial just a little bit more.

Many things I do go against what vets and breeders preach but many vets and breeders dont understand some very important basics.
