The History of yellow Opaline blue and gold macaws began in Sri Lanka by a well known and experienced breeder who imported and introduced many new species of birds to the Sri Lankan market. The mutation was discovered when an usual blue and gold chick was identified from the clutch that was pulled out from a pair of macaws that has just started breeding (2006). The difference was that the chick had an usual white beak and pink feet which distinguished it from the rest of the chicks and they grew up to be the beautiful yellow opaline blue and gold macaw.

The First person in Sri Lanka to breed the yellow opaline blue and gold macaw was none other than Mr. Thariq Niyazie - Director of Colombo Birds International, his expertise dates all the way back to 1990’s.
