Our Precious Pugster Girl (2009 - 2023)

With very heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our beloved Puggy girl. She truly was a rockstar, a champ who overcame many hurdles over the years but always did it with a SMILE & a zest for life.

Our little Kootz lived large, so live large like Puggy, love fiercely! 🤍

She taught us many lessons without saying a word. We are honoured to have had the opportunity to do life with her.

So yesterday, we said goodbye to our bestest friend. Mad love to one of the sweetest, loyal and kind creations that God had blessed us with to love and to be loved by.

We lost a real one yesterday. My Pugga, you will be missed, until we meet you again, have a blast in heaven with my Izzy Schatzie!

Meet Puggy 🤍 One of the strongest girls I have had. She was meant for us from day 1. Her story began when the lady who was to take her home changed her mind, a week later once she lost her right eye. Her eager yes turned to a no the second they saw her. But that 'no' was the biggest blessing I never prayed for. She was meant to be with us and we took her in. This girl has been a part of our lives for more than 11 years now. I am her big sister and moments with her are that more special as she gets older and her body gets worn.

Her sight and hearing are getting weaker. bumping into things and having trouble locating a toy on the floor is her norm. She still shadows me every single second of the day. And her heart is as young as ever and she brings so much of love into every room. Some things have never changed and she still prefers humans to her own kind and absolutely adores being fussed over. Her muzzle might be greying but she is still the perkiest, bravest and most affectionate little pug that I know! 🤍

Ageing is a normal part of life and with some vigilance and attention to your dog’s health, we can transform their tomorrows into their “golden years.”

Chewing is a natural and important behavior for dogs. Recreational bones act like a brush and floss for dog’s teeth. The sinewy bones break tartar down and reduce gum disease, cleaning the teeth. Chewing also stimulates the production of saliva enzymes, which prevent plaque buildup. Dogs that chew on bones are also less likely to scratch or lick their own paws.

Raw bones are a good source of calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals. They have benefits to the digestive system, including strengthening the stomach muscles, preventing bloat, fostering healthy bowel movements, and preventing a**l gland problems.

In addition to physical health, chewing has the benefit of mentally stimulating dogs. This can actually reduce anxiety, which is linked to high blood pressure and heart disease. Remember that recreational bones are not designed to be edible, but rather chewed by dogs.

Our Chicken Liver Bites are a great option as Training Treats. Made with Chickpea flour which make them naturally high in protein and packed with fiber. For dogs with gluten sensitivities, chickpea flour is gluten-free and easily digestible.

Chewing is very important for your dogs oral and emotional health. It keeps the teeth clean, the body exercised and the mind occupied. Having your dog chew is also important to prevent behavior problems and chewing on inappropriate objects.
However, everything a dog chews on should be given on supervision. We always suggest picking up chews before you leave the house and never leave a pup unattended with any chew.

Have you ever thought about the fact that humans are the only species to cook their food? 🤔 Around 1,800,000 species eat raw food in their natural habitats. When you look at it like this, raw-feeding doesn’t seem quite so radical, does it? 🥩

But, don’t get us wrong, we’re not at all against lightly cooked diets for dogs. Properly managed, fresh food diets are all healthy steps away from processed feeds. Whilst our preference is for raw feeding, this meme was never intended to discourage other forms of fresh food diets. It’s purpose is to encourage thinking outside the square of kibble. 🥣

Re-sharing our first meme created in late 2015 to encourage thinking. 🔹Our friends over at Raw Feeding University - RFU mentioned how many times this meme has found itself being copied. I’m truly amazed by this, I never expected the response it received. In fact, the version of the meme that had its watermark cloned out was shared on social media platforms more than 3,500 times. After that it began being recreated. Sadly, it even represented an American raw pet food brand for a short while as the manager believed it was a generic meme & wolf stock image - they were surprised to learn it’s actually my Renn! 🤣

🌿The quote itself came after a day when I was finding raw food prep to be particularly difficult. Some of you may know, I’m vegan. Most of the time this does not affect my ability to prepare raw meals for carnivores. However, because of where I live and how I source their food, I am primarily butchering whole prey animals for carnivore meals. I am often given young animals that died accidentally or naturally. On this particular day, it was a very young animal that had died accidentally. I found it more upsetting than most. As a result, some deep reflecting on my own morals & ethics came about. And, after this contemplation, the idea behind the meme came to be. After a lot of research (with teamwork, thanks Dingo Den) and getting a photo I was happy with, the meme was born! 😄 🐺
