Basking in the morning sun and seeking comfort in each other. They are no different to us. Just like we need others to comfort us in times of need, they need each other. They met at the center and are healing together. ❤️

You don’t need a law to tell you that when you shoot them, you are shooting a living creature, you are taking a life.
All they wanted was some food. To you, it’s a crop that will make you earn money or maybe a tree that has fruits you like to eat but for them it’s food for survival.
How do you feel when you’re hungry and don’t have food to eat? What would you do if you were them?
When you shoot them, they suffer and die. Remember that you are killing a mother, a father, a baby, a brother, a sister and a family member.
You don’t need a law to have compassion! Learn to be kind! 🙏❤️

Despite the situation the team does their best to ensure all animals are saved and returned to the wild .
These Shikras came to the centre when they were tiny babies . It’s always a pleasure to watch them fly away and as with all our releases we wish them a long good life 🙏❤️

This alpha male was found in Delgoda area with an air rifle shot to the head . One eye was infected and his head wound had maggots. The team worked tirelessly to ensure his recovery and we are grateful that he made it through . 🙏
Whoever shot him, I hope one day you realize the harm you do when you pull that trigger . They’re innocent creatures who have been robbed of their habitat and source of food . The least you could do , as a human being , is let them live without harming them.
His release video will be uploaded shortly .
*WARNING* - Disturbing content .

Little angel ❤️

14/12/2020

This adorable little baby was found in a ditch , sadly with no mother in sight . Thanks to the people who informed us , we rescued this little angel and she is now doing well under the special care of our staff member Manju. She enjoys her milk and play time with the other deer in our care at the moment .
It is thanks to good human beings like Manju and many of the staff at the department that these animals have a chance at life .
This job is exhausting and takes it’s toll emotionally but they don’t give up. ❤️

I don’t know who made this but whoever you are . Thank you 🙏❤️

This female was found near the Sri Jayawardanapura hospital. She was SHOT and KILLED by an AIR RIFLE. She was approximately three weeks pregnant and she had another baby still clinging to her . The baby was terrified when she came in, her video is in the next post.
The department is investigating further into the matter .
Killing them is against the law and I hope we are able to find the murderer !
If anyone has any information on a person who shoots monkeys with an air rifle ,please contact us .
Two lives lost and a baby who is terrified due to the evil doings of a human !

SUCCESS STORY:This big boy was hit by a vehicle on the Athurugiriya expressway , both his legs were broken due to the accident. He had to have pins put in both his legs in order to fix them.
He came to us just before curfew was declared . During curfew food was scarce , the staff had to find nutrition for him from the surrounding area . They managed to find jack leaves and seeds to feed him. Doctors had many difficulties to come and treat all the animals due to the situation. Despite all these issues the team found a way to fix both his legs and bring him back to health.
WATCH HIS PROGRESS AND RELEASE IN THE NEXT POST ❤️🙏

No matter what is going on with us humans, the animals are our priority. They are helpless without us.
Even through these testing times the Wildlife Rescue Team continues to rescue, cure, rehabilitate and release animals despite many personal difficulties faced by members of our team. They are a true example of humanity. ❤️

These two kind souls brought in a baby cobra that they found in their store room .
We have many people like this , who go out of their way to rescue animals and bring them to us.
We appreciate all of you who support us.
It is people like you who make the world a better place .
CAUTION:
Even the baby snakes have venom. If you aren’t sure how to catch them please avoid doing so.

Our big boy enjoying his breakfast . He can’t sit up on his own or grab food so he has to be fed .
Chanaka cares for him and two others like him who need constant care and attention. It is the their love and care that keeps these animals alive for as long as possible❤️. We don’t know if he will regain use of his body but we do our best to help him and make him as comfortable as possible.
He was electrocuted and then hit by a passing motorbike.

This is an x-ray of a pregnant purple face leaf monkey . The three dots you see are air rifle bullets . This is not the first case we have received like this .
The chances of saving her or a her baby are very little .
Sadly there are cruel people like this , who do things that not only make them suffer but Possibly lose their lives.
It is illegal to harm a protected species such as this . But you don’t need a law to tell you what is right or wrong .
These are the reasons why this endemic species is endangered.
If anyone has any information on anyone who does things like this please inform us ?. A big thank you to the kind people who brought her in and who got her x-ray done.

We currently have four purple face leaf monkeys that were kept as pets. The first picture , as you can see , she is over weight because she was fed rice and meat.
Rescuing animals as infants or when they’re injured is a good thing but keeping them as pets is absolute selfishness. You rob them of the free life they should be leading and to top it off when you feed them the wrong food this is what happens.
It is a huge task for them to be rehabilitated when they’ve been kept this way .
IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS SET THEM FREE, LET THEM LIVE THE LIFE THEY SHOULD BE LIVING AND NOT YOUR LIFE IN YOUR HOME , YOU DON’T OWN THEM. THEY ARE NOT PETS . THEY BELONG IN THE WILD .

This is our disabled girl. She’s a fighter . ❤️. Purple face leaf monkeys are endemic to Sri Lanka .And this subspecies known as Nesta has dropped in numbers as low as approximately 1000,due to habitat loss.
Most get electrocuted or attacked by dogs.

01/07/2020

Monkeys are often taken as babies and kept as pets. Eventually they become aggressive and bite someone in the household, then they are brought to us as the people no longer want them . Luckily these three get along which makes the rehabilitation process a little easier.
They belong in a troupe with their own kind , free to roam as they please. NOT IN OUR HOUSES. If you love animals, let them live the way they are meant to ,not in a cage or tied on a string. I can’t stress this enough. If you find a baby please hand them over to us .
The gypsies steal them from their mothers , sometimes they kill them. If you want to help , don’t give them money . Eventually they will have to find another means of earning. 🙏🏽
