🐾🍴 DIY Cat Treats: Quick & Easy Recipe! 🍴🐾

Cat parents, whip up some homemade goodness for your furry friends with this simple cat treat recipe. It's quick, easy, and sure to make your kitty purr with happiness!

What You'll Need:
- 1 can sardines in oil
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup flour (more if needed)
- Parchment paper

How to Make Them:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. Blend sardines, egg, and 1/2 cup flour in a food processor. Gradually add more flour until the dough forms a ball.
3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness, and cut into 1x1 inch squares or shapes with a mini cookie cutter.
4. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 12-15 minutes until they start to brown.
5. Cool treats completely and store in an airtight container. Use within a week for maximum freshness.

Let’s talk about male cat reproductive anatomy and cat 🏀🏀. Did you know a male cat can still reproduce for up to 6 weeks after a neuter? Its true! Even though the actual testicles that make s***m are gone, a cat can still have residual s***m inside its tubes waiting to impregnate a female much like a human male. Eventually the s***m will either have been ‘used’ or will die off in the tubes and the cats will be sterile. It will also take several weeks for the testosterone to leave its body and for the urine smell to improve. Additionally, even after a neuter, it may still appear as though your cat still has testicles inside the sc***um if the testicles had become large. A gentle touch to the sc***um will reveal an empty sac.

Also, a not-so-fun fact, is intact cats have barbs on their pen*ses which helps them anchor inside the female during mating. Hence, the screaming that goes on. The barbs scraping also stimulate the female to drop eggs. A male cat loses the barbs a few weeks after a neuter. These barbs are a helpful visual to let your vet know if a cat is neutered or is cryptorchid. This condition happens when the testicles did not drop and the vet will have to go into their abdomen to remove the testicles. If the sac is empty, the vet vet will check for those barbs. No barbs means the cat is fixed. If the cat has barbs and an empty sac the cat is cryptorchid.

Neutering a male will prevent testicular cancer and help you have a healthy relaxed and happy cat. Far too often cats are thrown outside when they reach sexual maturity and start smelling foul or spraying your home. A simple solution is neutering by 4 months. A neuter prevents so many problems including shelter overcrowding. We spay and neuter at 2months/2 pounds or as soon as we can get our paws on them if they are older than 2 months.

This is a great idea! 1. Needing permits to breed and 2. Halting breeding when area shelters are over 75% capacity. It's all about balance and being the voice for those who cannot speak.

The Los Angeles City Council today approved a temporary moratorium on dog breeding permits in an attempt to address overpopulation at the six city-run animal shelters.

The more you know!!!

Okay friends, let’s talk about what to do when you see a creature needing help.

It is so important to be their voice!

While we so appreciate all of the concerned messages, we cannot be your first stop. Here are the steps you should take:

1 • TAKE PHOTOS

2 • Call your local police department so they can dispatch the correct authority whether that be an officer or an animal warden. As much as we want to drive over and pick up all the babies in need, we have to follow proper legal procedure, and that starts with calling the authorities.

3 • In the event the authorities do not take appropriate action POST THOSE PHOTOS. Create a Facebook post with **photos and location information** with details on who was called about the issue that has not been resolved. At that point, the public and rescue volunteers will work social media magic to share the post and contact people that can get the job done.

4 • Tag us / any local rescues you may know of as well as the local police department.

We get so many messages daily, not only local to us, even from other states about good folks concerned with animals in bad situations. This is always our advice, and while we know we can’t save them all, we will sure as hell try.

"Hello, it is me, Teddy Bear

I am sad to say this is my last full day on earth. I will be going to the vet tomorrow at 8am for the final goodbye. I was hoping I would have one more summer, as I love warm weather, pottering around the yard and feeling the sun on my back, but it was not to be. My body has reached its end and can not go on anymore, and that is OK. I am about 16 years old. I had a wonderful day in the sun today getting nom noms and human friends came to say goodbye.

I have so many things I want to say and so many people to thank.

First, to the pieces of human excrement who neglected me and buried me alive up to my neck in NC and left me to die an agonizing and petrifying death – may you have the life you deserve. If I can haunt you from the other side, I will.

Many thanks to the shelter staff member who fought to get me out alive. Like all shelters across the US, the shelter where I came from is overwhelmed with an endless flood of dumped and surrendered dogs. Rescues are full, adoptions are low, and they have to kill, as more dogs flood in every day. Please support spay/neuter efforts wherever you live. We cannot rescue our way out of the current crisis. We cannot adopt our way out of the current crisis. Millions of perfect family dogs are being killed. The only way to save millions of lives is to spay and neuter as many community dogs as possible.

Million thanks to Paul of Flying Fur Animal Rescue who flew me and Meredith Grey from NC to NY. Meredith and I had the plane to ourselves, which was such a treat, and we felt like real VIPs (Very Important Pooches).

Heartfelt thanks to my vets at Rippowam Animal Hospital, VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, and The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center for healing my body and making sure I lived as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

Billion thanks to every single person who donated for my vet care, food, meds, etc. My vet bills were vast, and I would not have had the last 14 months of life, if it had not been for your support. Million thanks to two non-profits, which also donated to my medical care – Susie's Senior Dogs and Flying Fur Animal Rescue.

Thank you to everyone who left a comment on social media and sent me love. The human always reads every single comment to me and the name of the person who left it. Even though I have not met you in real life, I feel like I know you, and I love you so much. All these comments made me realize, for the first time in my life, that many people love me and that my life matters. It has made up for the years of hell I survived.

Many thanks to Zak of Full Frame Photography who took amazing end-of-life pics of me. I did not get around to posting all of them, but have instructed the human to post the rest in the coming weeks.

I have written a will, which sets up the “Teddy Bear Fund”. The other day when I mentioned I was running low on food, a total of $250 was sent to my piggy bank. That money is the first donation to the “Teddy Bear Fund” and will be used to rescue other seniors like me. That will be my legacy – rescuing as many seniors as possible and giving them an amazing last chapter.

Please go and adopt a senior dog from your local rescue/shelter. Whether you have them for a few weeks, few months, or few years, it is the greatest gift you can give a dog. It is the gift of peace of the dog knowing they are safe and loved for the rest of their days, and that someone will be holding them at the end and telling them they are loved.

I have had an amazing 14 months, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you to everyone who was part of my journey in some way. I am forever grateful for this most amazing gift you gave me - life. You are in my heart forever. Love your pets fiercely and remember …. every day is a bonus. My love always, Bear xoxox
