Urgent Request for Assistance- High FAS

Alita is 2 years old, intact female, 60lbs, HW negative, & is a solo dog. She is experiencing severe kennel stress with nonstop barking and jumping at the kennel fence. Alita is very sweet and playful outside the kennel. She immediately seeks attention & will go off to play. She enjoyed playing with a squeaky toy & even did a little game of fetch. She sat, dropped the toy & gently took a treat. She is very playful & thrilled to be getting attention with frequent pets. She did a short training session, where she was focused & attentive. She was very gentle & calm with a young puppy barking through the fence. In the garden, she played some fetch, climbed rocks & sought a lot of affection. She is a very sweet, gentle dog with a fun, playful personality. If you are interested in fostering Alita, please let us know as soon as possible.

Volunteer Note: 12/15/23 Alita was easy to leash. She was wiggly and excited to be in the play yard. She immediately sought attention; then went off to play. I picked up a squeaky toy and tossed it to her. She began to squeak and play with it; eventually bringing it to me. She sat, dropped the toy and gently took a treat. She was very playful and thrilled to be getting attention and frequent pets. We played for a while; then did a short training session; where she was focused and attentive. She was very gentle and calm with a young puppy barking through the fence. We went to the garden; where she played some fetch, climbed rocks and again sought a lot of affection. She was a very sweet, gentle dog with a fun, playful personality.

Volunteer Note: 12/21/23 Alita leashed easily; then walked with a mild pull to the garden. She enjoyed running the garden like a puppy; her long legs flying and a big smile on her face. She chased toys, gently took treats and frequently solicited pets. She listens well and is focused when training. She was again calm with a dog in the play yard by the garden. After playing and getting pets, she did well on a walk in the lot before returning to her kennel.

STILL IN NEED Foster Request for Assistance *Owned Pets*

Meet Max & Peanut!

Max is a 13-year-old neutered Jack Russel mix and Peanut is a 9-year-old female Chihuahua mix. Unfortunately, their owner has fallen on hard times and is currently seeking assistance while they find accommodations for themselves and their pets. We would love to offer them as much help as we can but need help with placement! We are hoping to offer the family 1-2 months in foster to allow their owners some time before they can take them home.

Max has been reported to do well with people, other pets (including a good history with cats), and children. He can pull a bit on leash when walking and needs to be monitored in the yard since he does enjoy digging. His owner has lovingly nicknamed him "Forest Gump" and said he will need to be supervised outside as he can climb fences as well.

Peanut has a good history with people but is a bit nervous when it comes to men in hats. She has never been around small children and likely recommended for a home with older mature children that can give her space if needed. She is reported to walk well on leash. Peanut reportedly does have good history with cats and is a playful older pup though not a fan of sharing her things with others.

We would love to have these two go to a foster home together but is not required. We do ask that these two be kept separated from owned pets to ensure everyone's health and safety. Currently, Max and Peanut are not at the shelter and with commitment will be brought in for review from our medical team. Peanut will be spayed prior to leaving on foster.

If you have interest in helping this family, please let us know as soon as possible!

Urgent Foster Request for Assistance- High FAS in kennel

Pascal is a 2-year-old male Pittie mix who arrived at PRC as a stray mid-October. He is about 37 pounds and heartworm negative. Unfortunately, Pascal has been experiencing very high levels of FAS (fear, anxiety, and stress) here at the shelter and is now leash biting in the kennel. Pascal has history of being friendly with staff and allowing for all handling. In playgroup with our Wellness team, he is noted to be a social boy with a gentle/dainty playstyle and appears to be more puppy-like. He has done well with greetings. We are hoping to offer this boy time out of the shelter so if you are available to help, please let us know!

Volunteer Note: 11/13/23 It was difficult to get out of the kennel and he was reactive with the other dogs when passing through the hallway, but once in the yard he was very energetic and playful, he really likes his toys.

Volunteer Note: 11/15/23 Pascal was in Jagger Park when I went to get him. I was able to leash him without any issues. I wrapped the leash around his body like a harness. We proceeded to take a walk towards the parking lot area. He did not jump or try to bite the leash. When we walked back to his kennel he got reactive towards the other dogs barking at him but I was able to step into the kennel and unleash him without any issues. He also sat nicely for a treat and posed for photos in his kennel. He is very treat motivated so it's best to toss him the treat.

Foster Note: 12/12/23 Foster Adventure Tail: Pascal is the perfect energy level. He can sit next to you and nap or he can go on a run with you. He’s happy doing either. He loves to be right next to you. He’s very sweet and gentle. He’s eager to please and learn. Today he really seemed to just want to have a chill and quiet time out of the shelter. His biggest flaw is he will lick the straw of your drink lol. He didn’t pull very much on the leash. Didn’t show reactivity to other people on the trail. We jogged and then took a nice nap in the car then got a pup cup. He’s such a sweet boy and deserves a great person or family.

Staff Note: 12/21/23 Pascal has a note concerning grabbing the leash. I put my leash away, tossed treats into the kennel and entered, per a tip from a fellow volunteer. I leashed him while eating the treats; then exited. He grabbed the leash once, I tossed a treat and had no further issues. I placed the clip lead on in the play yard and put my leash aside for the remainder of the time he was with me. He quickly came up for pets and a couple treats. He showed that he preferred getting attention and pets over playing with toys. We worked on a couple commands and how to gently take treats; which he picked up quickly, being treat motivated. He enjoyed his time in the garden the most, getting to sniff, explore and continue to get attention. He was very eager to please, following me around, staying still for a couple photos, jumping up on a rock to get pets and treats as a reward and coming to me quickly when called. I used the clip lead to walk the lot and return him to his kennel, easily unclipping the lead without any leash reactivity at all. Overall, he was a quieter, low to medium energy sweet-natured dog that was very eager for affection.

Volunteer Note: 12/27/23 He was excited when I came to his kennel. I had put my slip lead away, in favor of the clip lead. I tossed in a couple treats and entered his kennel. I clipped the leash on; then waited a moment for him to calm. He completely ignored the leash. He had a reactive dog next to him and started responding in kind as we exited. He walked rapidly to the back; then began to run and play in the play yard. He was more animated today, chasing toys and running the yard tossing them in the air. We played fetch for a time. He enjoys retrieving them and will easily give them up or drop them to be picked up; although they were often dropped someplace behind me. He flashed more doggy smiles and came up a couple times to sit leaning on me for pets. He was easy to return to his kennel and remove the leash.

Urgent Request for Assistance- Decline in shelter

Carbonaro is a 3 year old neutered male weighing 76 pounds. He is heartworm positive. He has a gentle/dainty playstyle and is selective with other dogs. He can be barrier reactive, takes corrections at first but then gets carried away and over corrects. He arrived at the shelter as a stray in June. He is declining here at the shelter.

Volunteer Note: 07/24/23 Carbonaro (A2315131) was calm being leashed, walking to the back with a mild pull. He was friendly with a couple citizens we passed on the way. We spent a short time in the play yard as he explored, got some pets and did well in our first time training. He showed little interest in toys. He showed more interest in the garden, sniffing and following trails he discovered. He checked out the entire garden, including climbing the waterfall. He stopped by at times for pets, showing only minor interest in treats. We ended with him sitting leaned against me on a rock getting pets. He walked well back to his kennel. He was a medium energy, low-key dog who enjoyed exploring and getting affection during our first time together in ROMP.

Volunteer Note: 08/07/23 Carbonaro (A2315131) was easily leashed and walked to the back ignoring dogs. We took a short walk in the lot to work on his leash skills; then went to the play yard. He is very scent oriented; spending much of his time exploring with his nose to the ground sometimes taking long pauses to thoroughly investigate a scent he’s located. He showed more interest in toys today; especially playing with a long squeaky snake. He appears subdued with his emotions; yet is actually an affectionate dog that leans into you for pets and enjoys sitting close. He showed only a mild interest in treats.

Volunteer Note: 08/20/23 We approached Carbonaro’s kennel where he was easily leashed. As we walked towards the play yard, he became reactive towards other dogs when he walked near them and lunged/barked at them. We steered him away and were able to easily walk him to the play yard. He roamed the yard and loved playing in the pool and splashed around a bit. He displayed the same behavior towards other dogs when walking back to his kennel.

Volunteer Note: 09/14/23 Carbonaro was easy to leash. He walked with a mild pull, briefly reacting to one of the dogs near his kennel. We walked through the play yard into the garden; as he shows little interest in toys or other play yard activities. He immediately put his nose to the ground to sniff, his favorite activity. He wandered the yard, tracking trails known only to him; while his tail was high and wagging. He’d look up periodically with a big smile before continuing. He’d check in periodically for some attention and treats; then off again. He did well on short training sessions. Eventually, he came over to lay down in the grass and I knelt by him petting him and scratching his ear. We took a shot walk through the lot to work on leash skills; then return him to his kennel.

Volunteer Note: 11/22/23 Carbonaro was easy to leash and walk to the play yard, ignoring dogs. He was playful and affectionate, going off to explore; then running back to me when I clapped my hands and bury his head in my chest. He wasn’t too interested in toys, mostly wanting to explore, get pets and run around the yard as we played. He did well on his training, sitting quickly and holding a stay until called. He was very upbeat, with a big doggy smile while out. He had a low to medium relaxed energy, being a great dog to spend a quiet day with.

Foster Note: 12/19/23 Adventure Tail Note: Once we finally got him in the car Carbonaro was SUCH a good boy!! He was very treat motivated and is very good at listening to commands. He did very well in the car and got to hang his head out the window! We went on a nice long walk around our neighborhood that backs up to a retention pond and he had an amazing time rolling in the grass and even chased some ducks! He’s totally house broken and is an amazing dog to spend the day with.

Volunteer Note: 12/23/23 Carbonaro was easy to leash. He was low energy and showed little interest in toys. He sat nonstop to earn treats, which he took gently. He allowed pets all over and leaned into them. He was easy to return to kennel. He is a gentle giant.

Carbonaro is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.

Foster Request for Assistance
Meet Margret!

Margret is a 2-year-old spayed Pittie mix who originally came to PRC late October. She has been in foster with one of our amazing foster parents since late November and went from a shy stressed out girl to a snuggly sweetheart from her time away from the shelter. Her current foster will be out of town 1/11 to 1/22 and we are hoping to find a temporary foster home, so she does not have to spend that time here in the shelter and regress in her behavior. At the shelter previously, she showed elevated signs of FAS and was prescribed medication which she no longer needs out in foster. She has been around other dogs in the foster home as well as exposed to cats and children which she did well with. She is house and crate trained and will need some time to get used to new surroundings but going in for pets once she is comfortable.

If you are interested in helping her out from 1/11 to 1/22, please let us know!

Margret is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.

📢UPDATE: Picked up by Rescue

URGENT Foster Plea- Deadline 01/06/24 5pm

Falcon’s Fury is a 1-year-old, 5lb, neutered who has high FAS. He cannot be TNVR where he was found & would benefit some socialization. His behavior is not improving in the shelter and he has been here for over a month with high FAS(fear, anxiety, and stress) If no commitment is found, he will be scheduled for humane euthanasia.

12/30/23: Patient's behavior has not improved in kennel. Due for gabapentin extension. Resending foster and rescue pleas for socialization - will also tag as possible working cat. Review in one week for interest, if none then consider deadline for humane euthanasia as this will be 1 month LOS with severe FAS that is inhumane for the cat.

12/27/23: Patient has high FAS, does not allow staff to open kennel door without reacting negatively

12/16/23: allowed petting from afar.

12/14/23 Hiding in igloo, licking lip and hissed. Food bowl was moved, and patient approached to front of igloo interested. Adding foster plea for socialization as patient is showing ability to be socialized.

12/11/23: Hiding in igloo with dilated pupils. High FAS: kennel destroyed with newspaper shredded and litter from litter box everywhere. Did not attempt to handle due to patient behavior/ hiding. Starting Gabapentin SID can increase to BID if needs more FAS reduction.

Foster Request for Assistance

Loretta is 3 years old, spayed, about 48lbs, HW negative, & is gentle dainty tolerant in playgroup. Loretta is a very sweet smaller girl who arrived at the shelter over a month ago. She was very scared and in poor condition. She was thin with skin issues but with time and medication her skin appearance is much better. While you will often find her quiet in her kennel, she is stressed and nervous most of the time. She is starting to show signs of FAS due to her continued shelter stay. She does love and crave attention and loves to be with people. She walks well on a leash, is very potty trained, and loves treats and toys. She is well mannered and doesn't jump or pull and she doesn't react to the dogs when she is walking by. Loretta has been to playgroup but can get overwhelmed with too many rough plays yard friends. We would love for her to find a home.

12/16/23 per volunteer, Loretta was easy to leash and did not pull or react to other dogs along the walk to the play yard. Loretta was a bit nervous during most of our time out together and never fully relaxed. She is a friendly girl who sought out pets and treats. For the most part, she stayed close by in the yard and in the garden. She would wag her tail from time to time, especially when receiving pets or praise. She needs a bit more time out in the yard to become more comfortable and show more of her sweet demeanor. Loretta was easy to return to her kennel and seemed to know the route back to AD kennels from the yard.

11/19/23 Loretta was waiting at the kennel door when I went to leash her, she di shy away a few times but once I leashed her, she came out of the kennel easily without any pulling. She walked well around the shelter and to the grooming area. She did seem to fear noises and hesitated a few times when we had to walk through a door. She did not react to any of the dogs she passed, even the ones that were barking at her. She allowed all handling and enjoyed having her back end scratched Once we were done with our time together, she walked back into her kennel with me. She did not want to stay in there and wanted to come back out with me, but I was able to talk to her calmly while I exited her kennel, and she did not try to dart out. She is a very sweet girl who is shy and scared but wants attention.

If you can help, please let us know as soon as possible!

Loretta is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.

Foster Request for Assistance

Meet Chaz!

Chaz is a 4-year-old, neutered, 52lbs, HW negative, & is gentle dainty social in playgroup. He was transferred to us from HSTB. Chaz originally went to foster after showing signs of increased FAS levels here at the shelter. Chaz has been out in foster for 2 weeks now and has been doing fairly well, but unfortunately the foster parent is no longer able to look after him due to him showing too much interest in the house cat. We are hoping to find Chaz another placement, so he doesn't have to return here to the shelter.

Foster Notes: Chaz is a very handsome fella and also a very good boy! He’s doing great! He listens well, likes to sit for treats, comes when he is called, does well in the crate, and is all around a sweetheart. I can keep him around my cat if he’s leashed to me. He’s very interested in her but not aggressive. All in all, he’s settling in and relaxing.

Foster Note: Chaz is doing a really good job relaxing and he is starting to feel safe here. He is ok with my cat when supervised. He likes treats and naps and some snuggles. He walks well on a leash with the occasional reminder not to pull. We are working on him being more welcoming to house guests, but all in all, he’s a really good boy and is so happy to have some time to feel safe and comfortable.

Foster Request for Assistance

Meet Chaz!Foster Note: Chaz will charm you and make you fall in love! He’s doing a great job settling in and feeling more secure. He is a great listener and walks on his leash very well. He likes neck scratches and chasing squeaky toys. I haven’t introduced him to any doggy friends but he hasn’t seem too keen on greeting the neighborhood dogs yet. He does great in his crate overnight and while I’m gone. He finds a good podcast especially relaxing. He can be friends with visitors after he has had a moment is his crate to compose himself. I think with a loving and patient owner he will blossom into a wonderful companion.

If you can help Chaz, please let us know as soon as possible!

Chaz is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.

Foster Request for Assistance

Marcellus is 3yrs old, neutered and weighs 46lbs. He came in as a stray in early December. He was doing good the first week or two but has since started showing reactivity at the kennel door, severe leash biting and other elevated FAS signs (fear, anxiety, stress). When the Behavior team was working with him, and he calmed down and laid on his bed they were able to step in then was able to leash Marcellus and take him out. Outside of the kennel he allowed petting and handling. He did tense up and was snapping once back in the kennel. In playgroup he went in the Gentle Dainty group and was social with the other dogs. He was a little mouthy with the other dogs but steerable. Due to her current behaviors, volunteers have been unable to get him from his kennel to take him to playgroup. Marcellus had some nasal discharge yesterday, so we started him on our URI protocol. He is heartworm negative. Medical attached.

Staff Note: 12/21/23 Flipped to Eval/Beh because of severe leash biting in the kennel. Volunteer was able to leash him in the morning using two leashes. Same volunteer tried in the afternoon and Marcellus grabbed the volunteer’s hoodie and would not let go. When JS approached the kennel, Marcellus was snapping at anything.

Staff Note: 12/23/23 JS approached Marcellus kennel in the inside portion of the kennel. In the inside, he was displaying high levels of reactivity, barking, and snapping at anything close to the fence. JS let Marcellus outside where he was displaying the same behaviors but not at the same level, slightly less. JS did not even try to leash him without using treats first to distract him. At first, he was not facing that there were treats in the kennel but then he went to his bed and JS was able to step in the kennel. Once inside the kennel, it was easy to leash him. There were no issues while he was out, Marcellus allowed petting and handling. He did give issues going back. As soon as he was back in the kennel his body language went to tense and snapping in the kennel. JS had to use a tool to retrieve the leash. Marcellus is currently displaying high level of anxiety and frustration in the kennel.

Staff Note: 12/28/23 Marcellus is currently on URI iso. His behavior in kennel is consistent in that he will lunge, bark, and body slam his kennel when people pass by. When MR was reviewing his kennel card, Marcellus responded with lunging and barking.

Request for Assistance- Medical Recovery

Sheila is a 1-year-old, spayed, 2.6lb who came in as a stray over the holidays, ear tipped & in poor condition. She does allow minimal handling & is eating very well. X-rays show decreased serosal detail in abdomen, suspect chronic right pelvic (p***s) fracture, closed growth plates consistent with adult cat. Sheila needs a more advanced workup than PRC can provide. Currently explanation for very small stature unknown. She needs to gain some weight, become more socialized, & given time to observe for any additional abnormalities that could explain her size. If you can help her, please let us know.

Foster Request for Assistance

Ulrika came in as a stray with her sister, Poochyena, who is exhibiting the same issues as she is. Although she has been at the shelter for two weeks, she is still scared and afraid to leave her kennel. She lays in her bed and will slightly wag her tail when she is given attention, but the slightest noise or movement causes her to shake and hide. She does not walk well on a leash due to being fearful. but allows herself to be carried. She is starting to take treats from your hand but when there is too much commotion she will turn away and only eat when you aren't looking. We would love to get her into a foster home where she can decompress, learn to trust, and start to learn how to enjoy life as a happy dog.

Request for Assistance- Adventure Tails Needed!

Aster is a 4 year old spayed female weighing 72 pounds. She is heartworm negative. She has a gentle/dainty playstyle and is tolerant of the other dogs. We would like to get her out for an Adventure Tails day to learn more about her and to give her a break from the shelter.

Volunteer Note: was easy to leashed and walked calmly past dogs. She enjoyed running and exploring the play yard and splashing in the pool. She did well staying focused and responding during a short training session. She was mildly interested in chasing toys, mostly seeking affection and engaging in play. She became more playful and animated in the garden, running the area and sniffing among the plants. She recalled well from across the garden. She had a unique return, running to me at full speed; then turning around to back up for b***y scratches. We ended with a walk in the garden, showing she still walks well on a leash. She was a happy, playful medium energy dog who enjoys getting and returning affection.

Staff Note: When staff members approached Aster's kennel to get her out she was on the inside of her kennel. But when her names was called she came right out and allowed staff member to leash her with no issues and walked well to the AD playyard. In the playyard she spend most of her time sniffing around and occasionally come up the the staff members and getting pets. She seems to really like getting b***y scratches and after she gets them she would do a quick run around the yard. She had a loose body language during the whole interaction. She walked well back to her kennel and went right back in with no issues.

Volunteer Note: Aster A2164811 was easy to leash. She did not react to dogs as we walked to the yard. It was my first time meeting her and she solicited butt scratches and plopped over for a belly rub. When I sat on the ramp, she sat with her back to me and her butt at my feet.

Foster Request for Assistance - Short-term Foster Still in Need

Tosin is 1 year old, neutered, 59lbs, HW negative, & is gentle dainty selective in playgroup. Unfortunately, Tosin continues to struggle with kennel stress. We thought a change of scenery would be very helpful for a couple of days, but he continues to spin and chase tail. Dog has great notes from outside of the kennel and adventure tails but is at risk of further mental decline from the kennel stress. Due to his tail chasing our vet staff did an exam. Radiographs noted an abnormal bone fragment between two vertebrae. We have added some pain meds to see if the tail chasing is caused by pain rather than stress but we would like to get him into a foster home to monitor him more closley. If patient is truly in discomfort vs stressed in kennel, amputation of distal tail may be considered.

Update: We are hoping to offer this boy a short-term foster opportunity to help monitor his behavior. He has been started on URI protocol until 1/05/24 and will need to be kept separated from other animals. If you are available and interested in helping out, please let us know!

12/11/23 10:41 Adventure tails foster day trip- Tosin was an absolute joy! He was shy when we met him, but he warmed up shortly after. We left the Center and went for a long car ride and stopped and got a pup cup. Tosin is very good in the car. He was curious and watched outside, but never barked and had no accidents. He enjoyed his pup cup! Afterwards, we went to my house and Tosin played with my son and I in the backyard and in the house. He was very good! And, boy, does he love his stuffed animals! He did wonderful with my son! When at my house, he started to often come up to me for pets and snuggles. Tosin would make an excellent family dog. He is curious about the animals we came across but behaved well. He seems to know “sit” and is treat motivated.

If you can help Tosin, please let us know ASAP!

Tosin is available for ADOPTION, FOSTER, or RESCUE.

Foster Request for Assistance

Adriel is a 3-year-old neutered Staffie mix who originally arrived as a stray late-October. Adriel has gotten more comfortable with staff, volunteers, and other dogs in playgroup. He is more confident in playgroup and does better with a small group of dogs. He is starting to play with the other dogs and give good corrections when needed. Adriel now comes up to the kennel door to be leashed though he is starting to bite at the leash. The behavior team was able to step into the kennel and it made it easier to leash him, but he was still biting at the leash. Leash biting is a sign of FAS.

Adriel went out on an Adventure Tails day trip with a foster and her small child. He was nervous but did well in the car rides and walked calmly on the leash. Adriel was adopted the next day for about a week but he was returned because he was playing too roughly with their small child and Chihuahua.

Volunteer Note: 10/30/23 Adriel hesitated a moment after I entered his kennel; then came right up to me for a pet and to be leashed. He walked well to the play yard. He was very affectionate today, coming up often for pets and climbing the ramp on his own to wait for me to sit and pet him. He was very interested in toys, playing quite a few rounds of fetch. He sometimes dropped the toy and other times gave it up very gently. He calmly laid down to rest in the yard. We spent time in the garden. He went off on his own more to explore; going among the plants and climbing out onto the ledge under the waterfall. He sits and shakes on command and is learning down. He also recalled well in the garden. He’s opened up more each time I’ve ROMPed with him.

Volunteer Note: 11/6/23 He was sleeping when I first walked into the kennel. I had to wake him up to get him to come to the front of the kennel. He was very easy to leash and walk to the yard. He walked right next to my side, the whole time and did not pull at all on our walk out to the yard. He loves to play ball and get affection. You can take the ball from his mouth without any issues. I had to take a phone call while out with him, and he just laid down by my side and waited. He knows how to sit and takes treats and gently.

Adventure Tails Note: 12/12/23 Me and my six year old son had the pleasure of taking out Adriel and he was an absolute dream dog. You could tell he was a little hesitant at first, tail tucked between his legs and head down but once we got to the car, he started to loosen up. He let me help him up into the car and my son told him to sit, which he did. He stayed calm and looked out the window as we drove to Pet Supplied Plus. We parked and I helped him out of the car. He had some water that I packed for him, and then we headed inside the store. He stopped to smell all the food bags. I took him down the toy aisle and he didn't seem too interested in them. We ran into a pair of dogs, which he sniffed briefly. No negative behavior or interest in trying to get them know.

After the store, we went back to the car and headed to Hillsborough River State Park. We got out and he used the potty. My son took the leash and he walked calmly with him. No pulling, no running off, nothing. Everyone we came across complimented his behavior and commented on how handsome he is. He let people pet him and then calmly kept walking with my son. We ran into a few other dogs and again, no negative behavior and no interest in engaging. After our 1.5 mile hike, I let my son play on the playground while Adriel and I got some water and sat down. He saw a squirrel and at that point, he pulled on the leash to try to chase the squirrel but after a minute of me not letting him run off, he sat down next to me and let me take pictures of him and love on him.

We headed back to the car and he took a really good nap with my son in the back seat. We went to Bullfrog Creek Brewing for a late lunch. Once again, everyone complimented his behavior and how handsome he is. He let all the kids pet him and play with him. He was super happy and you could tell he was really relaxed and having a good time. His body language completely changed. He sat with us while we ate, no jumping, no whining, no barking. He sniffed a few dogs there and there was one dog who wanted to play with him. He kind of engaged but he stayed really chill with him. He did a great job! I fell in love with him and I hope he finds a home that is deserving of his love.

Volunteer Note: 12/21/23 Adriel has made an amazing transformation from arriving as a shy dog. He comes to the door to be leashed and walks confidently to the play yard. His love of playing with toys and interacting with people has also continued growing. He played fetch, ran to me for treats and was very attentive during training. He ran around the garden play bowing at me and came up often for pets, all with a big doggy smile. He was outgoing, confident, and playful.

Staff Note: 12/22/23 Volunteer went to retrieve Adriel for play group, but the volunteer was unable to leash Adriel in the kennel due to snapping and biting the leash.

JS assisted an ACA with leashing Adriel for a meet and greet because Adriel was exhibiting the same behaviors from the morning. JS let Adriel grabbed the leash and tug on it for a few seconds before stepping in the kennel. Adriel was easier to leash once inside the kennel, but he still tried to grab the leash. Adriel allowed petting from the citizen and handling from JS, he did not bite the leash during the meet and greet nor going back to the kennel.

If you can help Adriel, please let us know as soon as possible!
