Happy Tuesday! 🐱

Today was the day for the last step in the two rescue kittens, getting them sterilized and castrated.

Sadly no one showed intrest in them so far 😕

They are fully vaccinated, dewormed, deflead, potty trained, very bonded, dog friendly and real dream team.

This procedure today costed us 20€ transport to the vet in Bitola, and 100€ for their bloodwork, sterilization and castration.

Another huge cost in this crisis after all the monthly costs, so do we have any cat lovers that can help us cover this expense?

Every little makes a huge difference and will mean a lot to them!

Nala is in a urgent need of foster/forever home 🏡 I’m looking to book her kennel soon as the situation is urgent 🙁 After 3 years in a warm bed, she will be in the cold kennel!

Nala was rescued from the mountain village in Macedonia, and is the second survivor of her litter. Nala went a long road to survive and found a home in UK in March 2021.

Unfortunately due to personal reasons the family can no longer take care of Nala and she needs to be rehomed ASAP.

Nala has tinned food morning and night, she has a daily walk although with everything going on at the moment they haven’t been as long or frequent as she is used on, she is reactive to dogs on walks so has a muzzle.
BUT once introduced she is totally fine and dog friendly.
Preferably quieter areas for walks and ideal will be outside city home.

Nala has grown with kids, currently she is living 8 year old and she also has been around 3 year old.

Overall loves people, always wants to say hi and have a cuddle.

At night she is kept in the kitchen, she is used to a cat but will chase to play, she loves a stroke and a fuss.

Last vet visit was about 6 months ago ish because she was a bit poorly but she got over whatever was wrong on her own, flea and worming all up to date.

Nala is born late 2020, and is big size dog.
She is wonderful, and will make a perfect family dog for someone who is adoring big breeds.

She is currently in Woodley, Reading UK 🇬🇧

It’s time for Rocky update! ❤️

Rocky finished his first Milteforan course and he was at the vet to a check up.

His biochemistry and bloodwork still don’t look the best, there is a tiny bit improvement.

So the plan continues that he needs Animal Strath vitamins , Vitamin C, B12 injections, Allopurinol, Omega 3 supplements.
Good food and in a month another check up.

So far his vet visit was 40€
His supplements also cost , and of course his medication…

It’s been long journey so far, and there is lot to come, so we would gladly use some help!

Patch is still looking for a forever home 🏡🫑

Patch is a the biggest hippie doggy we had in a while 😁
Her and her brother were found at a beach in Ohrid,Macedonia in a cartoon box. Their third sister was already dead 🙁

Since then they are living in a foster home along with two more dogs.

Living with her brother she bonded a lot to a protective and caring brother next to her.
Patch enjoys the attention from everyone, she specially enjoys the cuddles after a vet visit😂
Like any puppy in her age, she grows everyday running around, playing with toys and eating everything 🙈
Patch is friendly with everyone, she loves to play with the other dogs and run arround the garden. 🪴
Patch haven’t met a cat, but she knows children age 7years+.
Patch has been driven in a car and has no issues sitting in the back seat of the car 🚗
Also Patch has been introduced to different floring inside of the house and has no issues at all.

Patch has been vaccinated 3 times with DHLPP vaccine and rabies vaccination 💉 She is also microchipped and has her very own passport.
The approximate date of birth is mid February and a labrador size growth.

Patch would love to have her own family that will give her all the unconditional love ❤️

Boa is still looking for a forever home 🩷

Boa is the kindest, and the dog with the prettiest eyes. On first look you will say oh how sad she looks, but believe us that is completely the opposite. Otherwise she is described as the perfect dog!

Boa was rescued from the landfill Bukovo, where she was left at the middle of the road. She had both cherry eyes and was very skinny.
She had so much luck we didn’t runned her over, and that we stopped 🙏🏻

Boa had operation on both eyes to fix it, and made a full recovery 🙏🏻 In the meantime she got all vaccinated, microchipped and sterilized 🙏🏻

A character like Boa is like having a child with an adult mind. She is so calm and would only like to be in your arms cuddling.
Adores to play with the other dogs, no problem with small/big or boys/girls. She has been such a joy having her around.

Slowly Boa needs to find her forever family, because no one wants to call a shelter their home.

Pepper is still looking for a forever home 🌶️

Pepper is a young energetic boy who had a rough start in life.
Him and his sister were found at a beach in Ohrid,Macedonia in a cartoon box. Their third sister was already dead 🙁

Pepper has a strong open minded character. He enjoys having your attention.
Friendly with everyone, he loves to play with the other dogs and run arround the garden. 🪴
Pepper haven’t met a cat, but he knows children age 7years+.
He has shown to be a good passenger in the car and go along the ride.
Also Pepper has been introduced to different floring inside of the house and has no issues at all.

Long time no update on Rocky boy but we wanted to make sure we have all our options covered before we went public with this 🙏🏻

Always we want to be transparent and true with you guys, since you are the ones keeping this organization alive, your support and your trust.🙏🏻 But it’s not always so easy to put situations into words.

We left of telling you we bring Rocky on a check in for a month for his leishmania and that didn’t go good, his blood work was very bad, his biochemistry as well, no improvements with a massive therapy and we needed to decide if we would be willing to let him go…

This news broke us and we didn’t want to let him just yet. It was our last expensive option , but it was worth a shot, we had nothing to lose only to gain.

We bought Milteforan, a medicine for leishmania for 280€ , that he took in the past month.
He is better thankfully, the appetite is much much stronger, he did gain weight but still skinny.

We consulted again our vet, told him what we did 🙈 and now we need to see what is happening medically, if his biochemistry and bloodwork are any better.

We are playing the last card now but needed to see x 🙈

Next step we visit the vet ,yet again and hope for improvement.

Milteforan was bought thanks to Patreon donations, but we really need your help for the biochemistry and bloodwork, round about 35€

We have been obligated to all you that help us to let you know how and where your donations go 🙏🏻

This is a breakdown of the costs we have now, on a monthly basis.
The support from patreon has been helping us a lot to cover this 🙏🏻

If nothing pops out, no emergencies or no vet visits 🙈

After closing the shelter unfortunately we need to pay pension for the dogs, not all of them are there some are in foster but for those who are costs are every month there.

Brother and sister for adoption! 🐱

Please share so we can find their forever family soon!

The kittens that were rescued from being trown away in a cartoon box are ready to find their forever human.
You can see are well, happy and growing ❤️

They have been dewormed regularly and have been fully vaccinated 🙏🏻

They are around 4 months old. Brother and sister.
Playful, very bonded and used to dogs.

They have been living in apartment and already have hygienic habits to go in a litter box. 📦 So they haven’t been out of the appartment and not sure how they will react with living in a house (but sure with patience they can learn to navigate!).

The brother is more cuddly, the sister is more independent. They are sleeping in the bed with us 💤
Also they are used to be in a crate, where they have their own bed.

Their favorite thing to do is jump on you when you go in the bathroom 😂 and pure on your lap. No personal space knowledge for this babies! 😂

They love playing with any type of toys and of course going inside of shopping bags 🛍️

Looking for their purrrfect human 🐱 Someone that would adopt them in pair 🥰

Reminder!
We do not have a shelter, we do not have a place to keep the animals.
Our fosters are full, we have 4 dogs in kennels.
One ill of leishmania, which is costing us a lot.
Unfortunately we are not able to help at this time, only with posting/sharing. Sorry!

Soon our 9 last dogs from Macedonia will arrive home❤️
This means that the shelter is empty.
We have one dog in kennels in Uk 🇬🇧 - Lucky that we need to pay every month until his adoption hopefully comes 🙏🏻
We still support Adana in Germany since she needs to be on a special renal food.
Ohrid Strays volunteers started in 2014 , that’s already 8 years fighting on the front row.

Over 1000 rescued dogs over 500 adopted dogs trough the years.
Everyone that followed us and know us personally know that sometimes or lets say most of the time we struggled a lot. Time,funds,water,electricity, dump people etc etc.

The shelter is on a government ground which we only have speaken premisseon to be there. Meaning we could be kicked out anytime.
With that being said we could not invest in anything because it was a risk. We did no had nither electricity and since few months ago no water, the conditions were beyond awful and not suitable for a dog shelter. No proper desinfection could be done.
No quarantine place.
And parvo was everywhere.

This also had a big impact on us mentally because after all we are humans like everyone else.
We did everything ourselves, starting from taking the dog from the street, medical treatment, taking them to the vet, we often needed to drive to Skopje (3h drive one way) to get better diagnosis and treatments which took us a whole day + we had a shelter to look after when we camed back, transport to EU, we did more than 10 times, thanks to our rescue car that did a great job, if not we would needed to use a second option and take the dogs on transport again in Skopje (3h drive) at 4am,5am it was very very hard for us.

Not everyone knew what was going on behind closed doors because we basically sacrificed our lives and dedicated it to recusing animals.
We ( Anastazija and Vladimir) were the only ones doing the work in Macedonia. 365 days a year. No free day no break.Putting our private lives to non existing.
We have our own families and animals to look after , and that was all a second thing because of our 24/7 rescuing lifestyle.

We knew we needed to change this first of the best of the animals , then for our own good.
The shelter did a Amazing job the past few years, but is not something that should continue with the state it is now.
So as of right now, we no longer use the shelter, BUT we will continue to rescue as before by taking animals as fosters in our homes or at other people.

Of course this will change the number of animals rescued, but you need to focus on yourselves also in order to be able to help others.

We are so happy and lucky to have many people understanding and supporting our decisions as it is the right one to do at this time.

We really hope we will get understanding from all our followers and supporters who we are extremely grateful to.

Rescuing is not always dark and scary, there are this parts that we don’t talk about enough 💙

Life after being adopted.
Yes it’s only one dog.
Yes it didn’t change the world.
Yes the problem with stray dogs is still here.

But look at him, and you can say his world changed.

Sam who we barely took from the streets of Resen, Macedonia because people “loved him” on the streets, the same Sam who tried going back there and the same Sam who waited months to be seen and recognized.

To the beautiful family who adopted him, we can never say thank you enough for making our boy so happy.

Enjoy Semi, that’s what you were supposed to do all this time. Love you forever❤️

Emergency at the vet 🆘

Walking our dogs, my mom notised this little kitten in the bushes meowing soo loud.
Locals told her it’s been in the bushes since the night before and they couldn’t sleep because of his cry..

And they didn’t do anything ☹️

We were so lucky to find a foster place, and the kitten was taken at the vet in Bitola for further care and analysis.

The kitten was probably hit by a car. He is not moving the back legs and one of his eyes is inside/non existent.

The vet did an xray where luckily nothing was broken, probably is a trauma of the hit. But the eye will need to be removed.. 😕

Now he was given antibiotics and pain killers for a week and we need to follow how he is doing, if there will be improvement in his movements.

Then when he is stronger we need to plan the operation for the eye so it can be taken out. 🙏🏻

So grateful to the fosters who keep him safe and opened their home for him. 🙏🏻❤️

The vet visit costed us 40€
And on daily basis the kitten needs food, litter and pads as he can’t really control where he pees because of the leg movement.

Please help us to cover this and hopefully get this little kitten a better life than the one he started with. 🙏🏻

Rest in peace our beautiful Ziggy 💔🌈

You were just too good for this world💙 your pure soul, big heart and unconditional love will forever be in our memories and deep down in our hearts you’ll always have a piece.

Fly high big boy, where no can hurt you, when no disease can take over your body.

Give your dad a really big hug from us, he will take care for you there. He will love you as much as we did here 💙

We want to say thank you to everyone involved in Ziggy story, specifically to Anka for taking Ziggy in and finding him an amazing home with Mina. We are forever grateful and it means so much that Ziggy had a real family love before he left.

This is a huge loss for all of us, because dogs like Ziggy are very rarely born, and he is our shining star now ✨
