Altas Palmas Animal Clinic was established in 1979 by Dr. Romulo Rangel, Jr. Since then we have grown to seven veterinarians, specialized in small animal medicine and surgery, and moved to a new, larger location. Our growth and success is a result of our commitment to caring for pets and their owners.

🌟 Veterinary Manager Week 🌟
As this week comes to a close, I want to take a moment to share my deepest gratitude.

For the past 20 years, (16 of those as a manager), I’ve been blessed to grow, learn, and serve at Altas Palmas Animal Clinic. Any success I’ve had has never been mine alone. It has been shaped, supported, and strengthened by the incredible people around me.

To my family, thank you for standing by me through every late night, tough moment, and joyful milestone. Your support has been my anchor.

To Dr. Rangel, Dr. Dittman, Dr. Duran, and Dr. Putnam, thank you for taking a chance on me all those years ago. You opened the door to a career that has changed my life, and I will always be grateful for your trust.

To Dr. Esparza, thank you for being such a dedicated partner in the growth and evolution of this clinic. Your leadership has been invaluable.

To my current support staff, thank you for growing with me, for embracing challenges, and for bringing your hearts to this beautiful work every single day. You make this place what it is.

To my leaders (current and past), who quietly shoulder so much and help carry the weight that comes with this role, you make the hard days lighter and the great days even better.

And to every person, past and present, who has been part of Altas Palmas, please know this:
You have all impacted my path.
Every lesson, every moment, every experience with each of you has shaped who I am today.

I am truly grateful, and I hope I’m blessed with many more years working alongside such an extraordinary team at what I believe is the most wonderful animal clinic there is. 💙🐾

Love Always, Valerie

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸

Today, we proudly honor and thank all who have served our country, our veterans, our families, our friends, and our clients who have dedicated part of their lives to protecting the freedoms we all cherish.

We would also like to take a moment to recognize and thank our own veterans here at Altas Palmas Animal Clinic:

Veronica, who served in the U.S. Air Force,
Jim, who served in the U.S. Air Force, and
Valerie, who served in the U.S. Army.

Your courage, commitment, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. We are so grateful for your service to our country and for the care and dedication you continue to bring to our team and our community every day.

To all veterans, past and present, we salute you today and every day. ❤️🤍💙

Long John Silver was found in the road by a good samaritan. He only has three legs (we don’t know how he lost one of his legs, but it must have been amputated at a young age). We don’t mind that he is a “tripod,” and neither does he!
He was vaccinated, neutered, heartworm tested (negative), and started on prevention. He has been in foster care for 7 months, and does well in a home setting. He loves to play, be outside, and go for walks, and he also loves relaxing with the family at home, enjoying quiet evenings watching movies.
He is strong and doesn’t let his missing leg slow him down! He is crate trained.
He has been loving and playful with children and small dogs. He loves giving kisses!
He is still young and likes playing with toys. He has occasionally shredded paper towels and has chewed on sticks, but has not been destructive of furniture or household items in the home.
He will loudly bark at large dogs, and introductions with large dogs would need to be taken slowly. He has showed only one episode of resource guarding (with a new toy, while in a stressful situation), and is always fed separately from other pets and allowed to eat without interference.
Long John Silver is a very sweet boy, eager for attention and love, and would make an amazing best friend for someone. Please let us know if you would like to meet this special boy. We know you will love him as much as we do.

"The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living." - Cicero

November 1st and November 2nd is Dia de Los Mu***os. We honor the loved ones who have passed on. While they have left this earth, they remain in our hearts to be cherished and loved.

While not everyone is able to create an ofrenda at home, you can light a candle in memory of those departed.
