Anima - Society for the Protection of Animals is a local non-profit animal welfare organization established in 2003.

Anima is the first animal association to be founded in Macau as a reaction to non-existence laws concerning the animal well-beings in Macau. We provide a wide range of support for animals, owners and the general population in Macau including animal shelter (adoptions, foster program, godparents program), rescue program, Special Protection Program (which aims to animals that we unfortunately cannot

welcome on our premises due to the lack of space) and education, just to name but a few. Anima is fully devoted in promoting the protection and welfare of all living beings in Macau. Although there is no type of legislation concerning their welfare (pet shops, racing dogs/horses health …), we do our best to campaign and lobby for better legislation in collaboration with various organizations and authorities. Within our endless fights to pursue the Macau’s Government to make some changes concerning the animals welfare, we were focused in putting an end to the Macau Canidrome, where every month approximately 30 young and healthy dogs were being killed.

Anima-The Annual General Meeting of the Macau Animal Protection Association will be held on 22-06-2025!
The Association will hold its Annual General Meeting on 22 June 2025 at 3pm at the Cats’ Paradise to approve the accounts and the Board of Supervisors' Report. If you have registered as a member of the Association, you are welcome to attend our meeting!

Anima - Society for the Protection of Animals in Macau's Annual General Meeting will be held on 01-06-2024!

The Board of Directors of Anima - Society for the Protection of Animals in Macau held a meeting on April 21, 2024, where they unanimously approved the 2023 financial report and the 2024 budget.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on June 1, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Cat Paradise to review accounts and the Supervisory Committee report, and to elect new Board members for the 2024-2025 term. If you are a registered member of our association, you are welcome to attend the meeting!

If you wish to organize your own list, and you were a registered member of our association by December 31, 2023, please note that all members on the list must be registered members as of the last day of 2023. Members who attend the GA meeting or become a member on the list must have paid membership fees from January to April of this year.

Please submit your list in person to the Anima headquarters (Estrada do Altinha de Ka-Ho, Coloane; Dog Shelter) by May 24 at 6:00 PM. All proposed members must sign the proposed list, and all members must be registered with our association by December 31, 2023!

The list must include:
1. Executive Committee: three members - one president, one Vice president, and one Secretary;

2. Board of Directors: up to 23 members, with a minimum of 5 members, including one president , two Vice presidents , one Treasurer, and one Secretary. The Board may optionally include an Executive Committee composed of five to seven members, one of whom will be the Executive President;

3. Supervisory Committee: three members - one president , one Vice president , and one Secretary;

4. Ethics Committee: three members, none of whom may belong to any of the aforementioned boards. The president of the Ethics Committee will be elected later by the committee members.
