Everything You Need To Know About Kuroiler Chicken Breed

Kuroiler is a genetically improved breed from India. This variety of chicken is derived from crossing coloured broiler males with Rhode Island Red females. This is a dual-purpose breed since it can be used for producing eggs and meat.

They grow faster than other indigenous chickens. The maturity period is about 10 weeks compared to local breeds that take several months to mature. At maturity, Kuroiler chicken weigh about 3.5kg as compared to other breeds that weigh 2kg.

Kuroiler chicken perform quite well under what experts call “scavenging conditions”. You can feed them on animal or plant remains as well as commercial feed.

One thing about this chicken is that despite being a hardy breed, it is not encumbered by low productivity. While indigenous chicken produce about 40 eggs per year, Kuroiler does about 150 eggs in the same period.

While ordinary chicken weigh 2 kg, Kuroiler weighs 1.5 kg more. The only disadvantage with this breed of chicken, however, is that they don’t incubate and hatch their eggs. So you would need to purchase an incubator.

20 TIPS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO PREVENT VACCINE FAILURE BEFORE VACCINATING YOUR BIRDS

1)Always Purchase vaccines from reliable and reputable vet stores with adequate refrigeration facilities.

2)Transport the vaccine in a cooler or flask from the vet shops.and always add ice block to the cooler of your vaccine.

3)Check the vaccine’s expiration date

4)Don’t vaccinate sick birds

5)Don’t use chemicals or detergent to wash the equipment and drinkers that are
to be used for the vaccination exercise.
Because the residue chemicals can
render the vaccine inactive.

6)Boil the water you will use to dilute the vaccine the night to the vaccination
day.

7)Use boil water to sterilize drinkers before use.

8)Vaccines administered via water should be opened under the water into which
it is to be mixed.
This is because vaccines are normally vacuum sealed. When
opened in the air, it may draw contaminated air into the container or the vial.

9)If possible deworm your birds a week before vaccination exercise

10)Never mix two vaccines.

11)Do not vaccinate under high temperature

12)Do not expose vaccines to direct sunlight

13)For the administration of the correct dose, always know the actual water consumption you will use before the vaccination day.

14)Discontinue and stop the use of any medication 48 hours before carrying out
vaccination

15)Share the vaccines in a smaller quantity of water before sharing with other drinkers.

16)Use only skimmed milk for vaccines. Avoid using powder milk during vaccination.

17)Note: the higher the skimmed milk concentration, the better the suspension of the vaccine in the water.

18)After adding the skimmed milk, wait 10 minutes for complete chlorine neutralization before opening the vail of the vaccine under the surface of the water.

19)Leftover vaccines must be buried.

20)Use medical hand gloves when working with vaccine
