After years of planning, Kumitengo Farms now owns its own forest of both natural and planted trees and we ain't done yet 🌳. Big tings coming 🔥

This year we are planting 500 fruit trees at Kumitengo Farms . Slowly we are going to build our dream food forest . One tree at a time we will get there ❤💚 🌳

It is important to mulch our plants well in order to prevent our soil from drying out. This also prevents weeds from accessing light and they naturally die.

Today am restructuring the home garden which serves as my nursery for the main farm. We are moving bags around, propagating fruits , transplanting seedlings and introducing some amazing Hamsters to our livestock community 😊

If you want to do anything in life, the best thing to do is to *start* 🖐

In 2020 I started my 2nd farm in Mitundu (kumitengo Nursery) with the dream of becoming one of the best organic farms in Lilongwe. I bought 3 acres of dry bare land with just 1 Mango tree. Now we have more than 108 different types of trees growing on this land and more coming.

Our team of Rabbits provide the farm with the much needed organic fertilizer (from rabbit waste) and organic pesticide (produced from rabbit urine)

We produced maize and groundnuts using compost and treating with organic pesticides as we transition to a fully zero chemical agriculture.

So after making the Rabbit house I watched my cute little rabbits grow. Boring days were minimized bcoz I kept busy . I fed them and watched them grow.

But one other thing that I enjoyed throughout this process was the music that I listened to.

In this video we hear Nyerere all the way from Mulanje singing "Chitukule cha Mtedza". A song that spoke about diversifying our food sources to achieve food security.

"A strange wave of melodies and harmonies started occupying my mind" 🎶 🎵

When Covid 19 hit the world, so many things came to a standstill. As a touring musician I couldn't travel for any gigs. All flights were canceled. I was bored. I moved from the city and decided to live close to my farm. In the middle of all this I found something to keep me busy. Something fun. Something that became my passion. Over the next few months, I will tell you the story behind "Kumitengo Farms" and how it impacted my mental health 😊

On this day I made my first farm structure. An "easy to clean" Rabbit house 🐇 🐰 ❤
