Saint Vincent's Home Guadalajara Mexico Dog rescue of abused and abandoned dogs from the street in Mexico. No kill shelter, all dogs are spayed and neutered. We have over 300 dogs in our care.

Adoptions available Im a retired American living in Guadalajara over 25 years where I have been rescuing dogs, abused and abandoned from the streets. We now have a mission with workers and have over 300 in our care. we have all kinds of little, medium and large breed dogs. I have little chihuahuas, french poodles, dachshunds, Maltese, pit bulls, labs, golden, German, Belgian & English Shepherds;

every kind you can think of. we have had to move 4 times in the past 10 years because of problems with neighbors and the government. Since moving further outside of the city, the number of dogs people have been bringing me has doubled, so much so that our expenses are exceeding our income. We dont get much financial help. we pay for all the vaccines, food, medical coverage, spaying & neutering and always running out of money. we have contacted many rescue groups and news media in USA trying to get some help. Either they pass the buck or dont reply at all. Please tell people about our work here. we urgently need to find homes for some of our larger dogs and need financial help. we need help with medical bills, dog food, and housing. It costs over $500 a week for 25, 50 pound bags of dog food. People visiting Guadalajara can visit and adopt one of my dogs to take back to the US. Our medical bills are very high. The spaying an neutering, medicines for sick dogs, emergency surgeries for injured dogs from the street and cremation for those that die. Every dog deserves a loving home. we run a home; a NO kill sanctuary; there are NO cages here. If you love dogs and other animals , please pass our message on to others. All donations are tax deductible. We have IRS 501 3C exemption.

Our Christmas encyclical for 13 December 2024 from Saint Vincent's Home Mexico. Please share. Hi friends & benefactors,
This is my Christmas encyclical for December 2024.
It gets harder and harder to write these each month because im more dimwitted from brain fog from covid these past two years.
I shall try to make this brief and as long winded as possible. If you are new to our mailing list, we have over 200 rescue dogs in our care with very few adoptions. Im sorry to always have to ask for donations to help feed or dogs and pay their medical bills for vaccines, spaying & neutering. I hate asking people for money, but its not for me, it is as stated to care for our dogs here.
In the past month some people came around wanting to give us more puppies. Since they didnt have them with them, I turned them down. They had the same old story, they found them in the street, with no mama. The actual story is that the moma is their dog and they didint want to spend the money to have the dog spayed, so the puppies they cant get rid of. If they had brought the puppies, here, I probably would have taken them, as I always do. But in this case they looked well off and could afford to take care of them. A man came around with a Belgian Shepherd , a large dog he had for months. He didnt want him anymore, so I turned him away too. We cant take any more big dogs. We have so many and no money to feed them. Another man came with a moma and five puppies. See the photo. I took the moma and puppies. Sadly, one puppy died yesterday. I took the others to the vet right away yesterday and they got vaccines and worm kill; they had many parasites. I just hope the other 4 will be ok with the medicines they got yesterday.
If you follow our page every day or week, you may recall that I found a beautiful brown husky in the neighborhood lost in the street. He is still here, and the owners never came around to look for him. So here he stays. See the photo.
I have been asking our pals in USA to buy lottery tickets for us. Always hoping one of them will win so that we would have enough money to keep going for years and I wouldnt have to ask people to help all the time. I really mean it when I say, if you are having financial problems yourself, please dont feel you have to donate anything here. Only those who can well afford to contribute should be the ones to help.
As some of you may know, in the evenings I watch movies on youtube. Lately it has been crime movies with Brian Denehy. He was a great actor. Last month I watched all the episodes of a tv series called REACHER which is very exciting. Cant wait till the new episodes come on in a few weeks. I also liked the episodes of Boston Legal and last year the series NYPD Blue. All good t.v. series.
I must mention again, today we ran out of food today and there is only $8 in the bank account. We need help as soon as possible to get food tomorrow. If you would like to help, you can send through paypal to [email protected]. OR www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome
If you live here in Mexico, you can donate online using our CLABE #030320076518002012 BanDel Bajio, Lawrence G. Smith account name.
No gift is too small. All is appreciated and it all adds up to food for our doggies. For US donors, we have 501 3 C tax exemption. Your gifts are tax deductible.
Last month our Huskey Loba was adopted by a really nice young couple, and she is living the good life. She is loved and very well cared for. They take her everywhere, to the parks, restaurants, etc. See the recent photo of her taken while they were at a restaurant. I wish we had a hundred nice people to adopt our dogs like these folks.
Next Sunday Dec. 15th is Gaudate Sunday. It is one of only TWO Sundays in the liturgical calendar that Rose (pink) vestments are used in the church. The other in Lent is called Laetare Sunday. The Catholic , Anglican , Lutheran and other churches use Rose vestments once in Advent, and once in Lent. I mentioned this because when I was very small, maybe 5 or 6, My grandmother or my mother took me to church on Sundays and I was bored stiff always seeing green vestments that were dull , drab and very boring. One Sunday the priest came out wearing Rose vestments and I loved seeing them. Later years an Episcopal priest told me about them and later years I started designing vestments and selling them online. The rose vestments were my favorite design. See a photo of one of my designs made about 7 years ago. I dont remember who the priest was, but it was during kiddies first communion. All the vestments I designed and sold have become collectors items over the years and I stopped designing and selling them about 6 years ago. Always selling liturgical items new and used for over 25 years to raise money for our dogs. This is my website for the sale of my vestments and other items which are still offered for sale: www.paxhouse.com .
Every vestment you see offered in this website I personally designed. A local convent was making the vestments at first, then I hired a full-time person whom I trained to make the vestments to my specifications. The person knew nothing about vestments at the time, only repaired sewing machines and made some ladies clothing at the time.
Isnt that something¿
In other news and views, I want to comment about Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. I couldnt believe it has been 5 years since the fire. I have watched all the news reports about it. I must say that I was appalled at the moderné crap thy put in the cathedral they said President Macroni insisted on putting in, i.e., The "altar" I refer to as a butcher block, the hideous baptismal font, and the cathedra. I know that every traditional Catholic feels the same way about this. Trying to make an old church look new. It was also stated that they saved the huge ROSE stained glass window, yet the didnt put it back, they used new less attractive glass instead. What a shame. The organist who played the great organ was terrible. His choice of "music" was just terrible. I could have done better myself. I hope the French people will put pressure on the bishop to return the original furnishings that were replaced with that moderné trash or at least replicas. The "vestments" that were used look more like clown costumes. This is my opinion, and everyone is entitled to my opinion.
In case you missed it, here is the entire reopening of the cathedral video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA2qYaXISdw&ab_channel=NBCNews . Its over two hours long.
Im sorry to ramble on, but there is one other thing I wanted to say.
Im very sorry that Luigi killed the Insurance Exec Brian Thomson in NYC. No one should take the life of another person. I feel very sorry for the mans family and his two children.
I also I feel very sorry that Luigi has thrown away his young life and will most likely spend the rest of it in prison. A very sad event all around.
You are welcome to visit our mission any time with an appointment. Come and see what we are doing to save and protect our dogs. We would welcome more adoptions. They deserve a loving home. To make an appointment or to be removed from our mailing list, please send an email to [email protected] .
Sorry to write so much this time. I may write again later this month.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, happy Hannuka, and a great New Year.
Thanks again to all our regular donors. We couldnt make it each month without your help.
With kind regards in His Service,
Lawrence

Lost & found doggie
Hi Everyone, I hope this to be a brief epistle, not my usual long-winded propaganda.
A couple of months ago whilst unloading my laundry from my van to take into the laundromat, a young fellow was walking his beautiful dog. I always speak to people I see with dogs.
He said he lived a few blocks from there. His dog is a brown & white Huskey. I gave him my card letting him know we rescue dogs from the street and have many for adoption. I told him of the veterinarian we use which is located about 10 blocks up the street from where we were talking. He said he usually takes his dog to a vet on Lopez Mateus Ave. I said its a bad place to go because the vets that work there change all the time and their prices are very expensive. He agreed with me.
Well, to make a long story even longer....Last week whilst unloading my van with my laundry at the same spot, I saw his dog running around in the street appearing to be lost and looking for his daddy. I spoke to several people on the street that said the dog wasnt theirs and they didnt know the owner. So, with the help of a boy in the street, he put a leash on the dog and i brought him here. So, I know who the owner is, I just dont know his name or where he lives. His area is Agua Blanca, near our El Campanario colonia. I thought by this time he would have contacted me looking for his dog, but no such luck. I want to return this dog to him, but dont know how to contact him. I assume the dog must have been let out the gate or front door by some worker or visitor.
If you know who the owner of this dog is, please let me know or have him contact me so i can return the dog to him. Our phone is 333-826-2657, or email: [email protected].
This epistle is directed at local folk in or area. However, we will run out of food tomorrow and there wont be any money in the bank until tuesday because of the US holiday Veterans Day.
We always need help with food and medicines for our dogs. We still owe our vet for three spayings last week and no donations came in recently. If you would like to help with a donation, you can send through paypal to: [email protected], or www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome. All gifts are acknowledged by me personally and promptly. No gift is too small, and none is too large . Visitors are welcome with an appointment. We have many beautiful dogs available for adoption. Please share this information with your pals. Thanks to all our friends who always contribute each month.
We couldnt get along without your continued help.
God bless our friends and benefactors and people who love and care for animals.
Sincerely in His Service,
Lawrence

27/10/2024

Well friends, I find myself having to write this epistle of inquiry because I have been experiencing problems with our hotmail account and I am asking some of you to please respond.
Last week I sent out our pupdate for this month, but I believe those on our emailing list didnt receive it. Always check your spam or junk mail box. Im sending this through our fundrazer mailing which will also post to facebook.
For the past few months names that were on our emailing list have been disappearing from the list. I dont know why or what is causing it.
Some folks wrote asking if I was ok because they didnt hear from me.
If you didnt receive the pupdate I sent last week, "A cheery pupdate" please let me know.
When people dont receive our monthly propaganda, the donations fall off which is what happened this week. We ran out of canned food for our little and elderly dogs yesterday and there is no money to buy any. We will run out of krokettas tomorrow and I have to wait until monday when some donations from some of our regular donors will be in our bank account. My social security check wont be in my account until the 3rd of Nov. So im stuck if no donations come in today and tomorrow. Please share our monthly pupdates with your pals. Donations can be made through paypal to: [email protected], Or www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome, OR if you are in Mexico, online using our CLABE # 030320076518002012 BanDelBajio, Lawrence G. Smith.
We need more adoptions. Plans are being made to send 10 more of our dogs to Alaska to good homes in January.
The five we sent last week are doing very well and are happy.
If you wish to be on our emailing list or whish to be removed , just drop me a line at [email protected] .
Thanks very much for all those who always help. The need is great, please cooperate. Our electric bill is due at the end of the month.
Please buy lottery tickets for us.
When one window closes, another opens. This may be a way to open the other window.
Have a lovely Halloweenie filled with lots of tricks and treats.
With kind regards,
Lawrence

A cheery pupdate from Saint Vincent's Home for October 2024
Hello dear friends and benefactors.
Im writing this little epistle to let you know the latest goings on around here these past few days.
In the last two weeks enough donations came in that I was able to get 3 large females that were in heat spayed. From here in referred to as hot dogs.
Last week I took 20 of our puppies to the clinic for their second doses of vaccines and wormkill. SEE the photo of me at the clinic with some of them, taken by Dr. Elva. The lovely Hawaiian shirt was compliments of my next-door neighbors' trash can. I always liked Hawaiian shirts.
Last week 3 more hot dogs were spayed along with 3 small ones. They are still in the clinic recuperating. They will return this week. I have another hot dog will be getting spayed next week as well.

In other news & views, a lovely couple contacted me wanting to adopt one of our beautiful huskies. They had asked for Loba. SEE photo. They had one that looked identical to Loba that was named Luna that died last year from cancer.
They visited here yesterday and love our Loba. I said they can adopt her, but must cover the cost to have her spayed and vaccinated at the clinic with Dr. Elva. SO, we are setting up a time when there will be room at the clinic for her to go and have the surgery in about a week. They have a lovely home and yard along with two other beautiful large male dogs. So she will have lots of friends and family.
In other good news, two weeks ago I got a call from a veterinarian visiting from Alaska. Her name is Lisa and comes here a few times a year for personal medical treatment and to visit some friends and family. She told me she returns to Alaska taking rescue dogs to be adopted at her clinic.
Yesterday she returned to Alaska taking 4 of our small dogs and one large negro Labrador. All will get good homes . See photos of them in travel kennels at the airport. They got into Alaska after 1 a.m. She says she will return in January and take 10 more of our doggies for adoption. She will be sending me photos of the dogs she just took in a day or so. I will post them in my next epistle, or sooner on Facebook. Those that are now in Alaska are Ginger, Jimmy, Pumpkin, Amelia, and the Labrador is Ariel. I only have a photo of Amelia.
We are still unable to use our LG washing machine. Ever since the city renovated the streets near our digs, they did something to the water pressure and there isnt enough to run the washer. I have to try to find someone in the city government I can scream at. Im working on it. Meanwhile, I have to make runs to the local laundromat to wash my clothes, sheets and towels. Cant wash the doggies blankets. They are too stinky and full of hairs.
Im sorry to ramble on so much, but I wanted to keep my fans appraised at whats new here. Please share this epistle with your pals. Please buy lottery tickets for us in your state. We need all the help we can get. It takes a lot of money to keep our 200 dogs fed and medically well.
If you care to make a donation to help feed our dogs, you can send through paypal to: [email protected], OR/ www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome. If you are in Mexico you can make a donation online using our CLABE # 030320076518002012, Ban Del Bajio, Lawrence Smith.
We have IRS tax exemption 501 3 C, so your donations are tax deductible for U.S. taxpayers.
Locally, we need donations of cleaning supplies like brooms squeegees, bleach, laundry detergent, canned dog food and croquettes. Newspapers and cardboard boxes.
I felt sad letting Amelia and Pumpkin go, but I know they will be getting good loving homes which they deserve. Lisa will be doing blood work on all of them this week to check if they have any medical problems. I took them to the clinic on Thursday to get their vaccines and wormkill before they traveled.
Visitors are welcome with prior appointment. Time is money. Im such a busy guy. I wish I had more hours in the day to get things done around here. Today I was able to get a tree person to remove the big cypress that fell down during a wind storm we had here a month ago. Cost around $65. and well worth it.
If you do not wish to receive our monthly propaganda, just let me know by replying to this.
Thanks to all the nice people who always help with their donations. No gift is too small. It all adds up. Remember what King Narsise always said "Its so nice to be nice".
Hope you all have a wonderful Halloweenie and lots of treats from your lovely neighbors.
Thanks so much for caring about our dogs. Good things always happen to those who help animals.
Sincerely, your pal,
Lawrence

A mid-crisis pupdate from Saint Vincent's Home Guadalajara .
To our dear pals & benefactors:
I just finished sending out my mid September pupdate yesterday.
Unfortunately, we received no donations over the weekend.
On Saturday my costco membership card expired and I had 6,000 points credit from the past years purchases. That equals 6,000 pesos.
6,000 pesos equals 8 fifty pound bags of food. That is enough for 1 ½ days of food.
So, we ran out of food today.
With no food, no money, No luck, the bank is down to $23 in the account.
No workers showed up today. So that left me alone to deal with all of this as the dogs are hungry and becoming more aggressive. They say where there is life, there is hope.
There is very little life or hope here today.
We lost two of our better donors last month, apparently because one of our enemies, possibly a former disgruntled volunteer from years before or other jealous person slandered me to these two people. One accused me of running a concentration camp for dogs. This person lives in the city here and has never visited our place even after numerous requests to do so. She never met me or spoke on the phone. She always expressed concern for our dogs and me. Suddenly she went nuts and sent a nasty email saying she will no longer help our mission with vile accusations.
I do the best I can with what little I got.
The other person accused me of using different names and I that I was a horse doctor in Arizona. I looked up Lawrence Smith in Tucon Arizona, and there is a Dr. Lawrence Smith who is a horse doctor, but its not me. That person made no sense at all, and I think she is either losing her marbles or was on drugs.
I have had similar crazy things happen here over the past 25 years I have been running this home for dogs and we always get past it and things always get better. Its just when things seem to be going well, that something crazy like this always happens when we least expect it.
Anyway, to make a long story even longer, We need your help to be able to get food tomorrow and for the week.
We still have around 200 dogs in our care. I owe the vet for one spaying last week, and our Border Collie is in heat this week and goes into the clinic on thursday for the same spaying surgery.
If I dont pay these vet bills, the vet will not provide the services needed.
To make a donation through paypal, send to: [email protected].
OR with a debit card: www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome .
Online in Mexico our CLABE # is 030320076518002012. Banco Del Bajio, the account Lawrence Smith.
We have IRS 501 c3 tax exemption, for US taxpayers your donation is tax deductible.
We welcome visitors with an appointment. We need donations of dog food, dry and canned, cleaning supplies, bleach, laundry detergent, brooms, squeegees, etc.
Inquiries welcome at [email protected]. We have many beautiful dogs available for adoption. Sorry, we can no longer receive anymore dogs at this time. We are full to capacity.
Check out our page for the latest tidbits of news from our humble mission: https://www.facebook.com/SaintVincentsHomeGuadalajara/
If you wish to receive our propaganda each month by email, let me know. If you wish to be removed from our emailing list , do the same.
Thanks to all our friends who try to help, even with small donations are all welcome. There is no donation too small. They all add up to food for our dogs and medicines. To our chums in USA, please buy a few lottery tickets each week for us. You never know how the Lord works in mysterious ways, His Wonders to perform!
Many thanks for sharing this epistle with your pals.
I remain, In His Service,
Lawrence

A friendly epistle for mid-September 2023

Well friends, here we are again in the middle of the month. Its hard for me to write anything when there isnt a lot of good things to write about. A warning to Americans living in Mexico.
The past few years I have tried many times to use my American debit card in the ATM owned by Citibanamex, and also Coppel bank.
Both intentionally rejected my card. Always saying, "sorry we can not provide services at this time", yet if I use my local Mexican debit card, it works fine. I tried numerous machines owned by these banks and always the same thing happens.
When I try to pay my electric bill Commission Federal Electric, my cards a reject by the bank they use BBVA.
I have complained to my bank, and they are looking into the problem. If you have the same problem using your USA debit card in these bank machines, I suggest you report it to your bank as well.

A lovely antique art print of the Holy Family available to help support our mission. The Holy Family antique art print. I met an old man 25 years ago here in Guadalajara who had a picture framing store for many years. I found he had a lot of beautiful antique unframed religious art prints in his back room and was able to buy many of them. This is one that I really like and which I have many available. It has vibrant colors printed on heavy art paper. It measures 20" x 12 1/2" . It will be sent in a mailing tube by registered mail. It may take 4 weeks for delivery because Mexican mail is really slow. If you would like more than one copy, let me know. I have other gorgeous antique chromo religious prints I will be listing of various saints. All of these prints are over 60 years old. They come unframed. You will have to have them framed yourself. Once these are sold out, there will be no more. Get them while they are still here. To Order: [email protected]

Hi friends and fellow dog lovers, Just when I finished sending out and posting my epistle for August, a whole bunch of stuff came up that I felt I needed to write about and keep you informed. 08/08/2024

Hi Friends,
I have been trying to write this for a few weeks. I have trouble staying awake with this covid brain fog and not able to get my thoughts together to write anything interesting.
This may be a long-winded epistle this time, but I want to just cut to the main issues and include a few photos. Sorry, some of the dates will be mixed up.
As you know if you have been following my monthly epistles, that I was able to pay the debt I owed to one of the two vets. So, I have been able to take our dogs for vaccines and treatments when I have the cash. Only service is provided when I pay up front. No credit.
I wrote about a boy over a month ago that brought a pregnant dog here tied inside a wheelbarrow. The dog had 10 puppies. So far only three have survived. see photos.
One day a week ago a little boy was at the front door and gave me a Yorkie puppy. Dont know why. I took this puppy and the other puppies to the vet for worm kill and vaccines. Turns out the yorkie has a bad heart problem . The vet talked to a cardiologist that does heart surgery and was told the puppy is very small and cannot have surgery . If it gets bigger, perhaps surgery in 6 months. Right now, is getting little pills per day.
A man brought a beautiful brown cocker spaniel named Max. The Man said he is 7 years old, but couldnt keep him because his kids were abusing the dog. Someone else brought a young Husky named Dixie. She is very friendly.
My elderly van had problems a couple of weeks ago and I was not able to use it for a week. Found out the battery was dead and couldnt be recharged. It was only a year old from Costco, so I returned it and since it was guaranteed, they gave me a new one.
This week the van had been bouncing around like a junk box. I guessed the shocks were shot. So, I managed to get my mechanic that is a few blocks from here to change all for shocks yesterday. The cost was around $170. Cheap. compared to what it would cost in USA, I think. He bought the shocks at AutoZone. I always say my old 1988 ford van takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I try to maintain it as soon as there is a problem. I had to ask friends to help me go to the stores to get the kroketas for the dogs a few times.
One of our two dogs named Bertha
Had problems with the back leg. I took her to the vet. The vet said the dog had cancer and spread all through the body. No medicine would help, she was in a lot of pain for over a week before I realized she had such a problem. She had to be put to sleep. The other Bertha, you may recall I wrote a few months ago was abandoned in the parking lot at costco. She is doing ok, fat and happy, but must be kept from the others most of the time . She is a pit bull and always attacks other dogs when you least expect it. Im including photos of both Bertha's. Also, I am including the receipts from the past few weeks at the clinic for vaccines, euthanasia for Bertha. I want our friends who contribute money for the care and food of our dogs to see where your money is going. It is well spent.
I have many more receipts including those from sam's club for the many times I went to buy kroketas, but I wont clutter this encyclical with so many receipts. I was able to buy 15 bags of food a few times in the past month. That gets us through around 5 days of food. I include a photo of a guy loading up the van with the bags of food.
Sorry to write so much depressing stuff. Its only a portion of the things we have to deal with around here all the time. I will cut this short. Its too long already. Donations can be sent to PayPal to: [email protected], if you see the feature to send as "friends & family" please use it. Then we dont get charged a fee. OR www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome. If you just won the lottery and are now filthy rich and want to send a LARGE donation, please send a check or wire transfer directly to our bank in the USA. Contact me directly at [email protected] for the details of where and how to send a check to our account. We have IRS 501 C 3 tax exemption, so your donation would be tax deductible.
I had a lot more stuff to write about, but im afraid I ran on too much already. Have to take some puppies to the vet in a few minutes. Thanks for all who help us. Its hard getting through each month. Please tell your pals about our mission and keep buying lottery tickets.
God bless you for caring.
In His Service,
Lawrence

A friendly epistle from Saint Vincent's Home
Hi friends, those far and near.
Im writing this epistle whilst listening to Chopin's piano music on youtube . I wish I had my old Knabe piano back again. I have asked before if anyone has an old grand piano they dont use that would care to donate it here. I would gladly pay the shipping. The only trouble is that three scammers tried to get me to pay for a piano that didnt exist in the past year. Im glad I caught on to it before I sent them any money. I liked playing Chopin more than other music.

Today, saturday 22 June, a young fellow came to our front door pushing a wheelbarrow with a large street dog tied down with nylon rope. He said she was 2 months pregnant, and he could not keep her. I saw this guy's face before. i think he was here a few months ago giving me some puppies or another dog. The guy is irresponsible and should not have any dogs. Aranza and her sister were at the door with me, and I asked her to tell him that I would receive this dog, but that he must not come here again with any more dogs. She told him and he agreed, and we now have another pregnant dog to deal with. The only problem is, we dont have a veterinarian to help, and most likely the puppies will die as others have.
I promised myself I would not write an sad news, since most people do not like to read about any of the problems we have here sometimes.
If you read my last epistle at the beginning of this month, I said I was able to pay the one vet two invoices with the donations that came in. I still owe her one more invoice that must be paid.
I still owe the back rent on this property for over a year. There just is never enough money to pay the bills, the vets, the rent, the workers and to pay the biggest bill, is the dog food. The government still charges 16% sales tax on dog food.
The few donations that came in this week allowed me to buy 4 bags of food yesterday at Sam's Club. It is enough to get through till monday morning.. Today and tomorrow, I have to give my 3 workers IOU's again telling them I would pay them on monday. At the moment there is only $8 left in the bank account. We still have 200 dogs living here with no adoptions.
Im happy to say it started raining here this week. So, the air is cooled off and
Our trees, plants, and flowers now have water. I remember as a teenager walking down 5th Avenue in Manhattan, I stopped a cop wearing a long blue over coat . On his collar it had 3 GOLD Letters. I asked him what TPF stood for. He said, "trees , plants and flowers". I told him my uncle was a police detective. When I told him his name, he said he knew him. He also told me TPF really means Tactical police force. Learn something new every day. He was friendly and I went on my way. To make a long story even longer, on another day walking across the street from the big NYC Public Library on 5th Avenue, I saw walking towards me, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. As we passed each other, I smiled and said hello and so did he. He was wearing a dark gray business suit , carrying a briefcase. What I remember the most was that he had intense blue eyes. Im only sorry I didnt stop to talk to him, but I thought people annoy him every day like that, so I didnt want to be rude. I later realized I could have asked him to help me to play the big organ in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Only one of the few in NYC I didnt get to play because to get to it, you needed a key to the elevator that went up to the organ in the balcony. Im still not able to play any pipe organ here in Guadalajara. Its the most disappointing thing for me about living here.
Im sorry I went off the subject again. I like to write about things in my past sometimes that bring back a fond memory. I really should write a book about my life. Some folks might find it interesting. The reports of my being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize are greatly exaggerated.

Im happy to report that we now have water again coming in from the city, so I dont have to pay for a p**a again. At least for awhile. Who knows how long it will last¿
Since no water had been coming into our cistern, I thought there must be a problem with the cistern. So I was able to find and hire and plumber that was a cistern fixer. He came and ran a hose from the water pipe in the street to our cistern. It is temporary. He will come in a few days to make the work correct. At least for the moment we have water coming into the cistern again.
Regarding our doggies and donations. Im sorry to say that I have heard that all rescue places are hurting for donations and adoptions just like us.
If you are in good financial shape and would like to help us with a donation, even a small donation always ads up. You can send through payal to [email protected]. OR www.fundrazr.com/stvincentshome.
Please buy lottery tickets for us if you are in the USA. If you want to send a large donation, it would be best to send a wire transfer directly to our bank in the USA to avoid paypal fees. Let me know, and I will provide the address to mail a check.
If you are local, you can send a donation using our CLABE # 030320076518002012. Banco Del Bajo, Lawrence G. Smith.
I hope everyone is surviving the terrible heat, floods, rain, and wildfires. Im sorry to see on the news every night so many people who have lost their homes and have been displaced. I tell my friends here, when I cant pay the rent anymore, they can find me living in a cardboard box under a bridge.
Thanks to so many kind people who try every month to help feed our dogs. Its just barely enough to scrape by each week. We try to stretch the food as possible to keep them from starving. Please share this with your pals. We need all the help we can get to keep going. If you plan to visit Guadalajara and would like to visit our mission here, just drop me a note and we can set up a time for you to visit. I thank you; our workers thank you, and our doggies thank you.
Have a wonderful life.
With kind regards,
Lawrence
