PAWS and CLAWS
Paws and Claws was initially formed as a Committee within the Amigos de Bucerias AC in 2013. This committee disbanded and was reformed in 2017 with new members under the name PAWS and CLAWS - SNIP - Spay & Neuter Initiative Program. The 'FREE' program was formed with the intention of assisting the locals to sterilize their pets, to reduce the unwanted dog and cat population in Bucerias, if they were financially unable to do so. The program is also used for street dogs and feral cats. Since 2017 the program has done 3 clinics and spayed or neutered approximately 450 animals between the clinics and working with local veterinarians in Bucerias. At the clinics we work with a local Mexican Veterinary group and also with the help of numerous volunteers. We have also had a Veterinarian office come from Canada to volunteer their services for us. The program works also with local vets, outside of the clinics, at reduced rates. The Committee also does numerous fundraising events, with the help of our generous volunteers, throughout the year. We also work with various volunteers who wish to do special fundraisers for Paws and Claws. We are also working on programs to educate the locals on the importance of Sterilizing their pets to give them their best chance at a long life. Getting the information into the schools for the kids to learn about their responsibilities to the animals. 📷ReplyForward
