Congratulations to our most recent puppy class graduates, Mika & Qian Qian and their wonderful families 🩷🐶🐾🥳🎉💜

Despite the rain ☔️ they still managed to demonstrate everything they have learned during the course and have a fun last class. Well done pups & families 🤩🤩

And…don’t forget our workshop this Sunday 30th November! We will be giving a talk about how to keep your dog happy and healthy and making a snuffle ball toy for you to take home for your dog. We look forward to seeing you there 😊🩷🐕😊

I want to make this video for long long looooong time.

The amount of dog owners asking, "ouh, hi, can I send my dog to your place and you gonna train him, then I just fetch him" is tremendous!

It would be so easy, right? If someone can just "program" our dog and we just press buttons and he does everything what we ask.
Not so easy.

Dogs have different personalities, holding a lot of emotions and their breed and genetics matters too!

You (dog owner) must build a connection based on trust and mutual respect, to be better communicate.

Dog owner must start "talk" DOG.

In extreme cases, when it comes about dog behavior (example aggression), yes we provide boarding and dog training ;)

Each case is different.
However puppies should be with you. It's very sensitive time for them to build strong connection with their owner, to find where they belong (their new home), new routine. Not at boarding center with their dog trainer ;)

How many reasons?
Countless may be a stretch (see what I did there😃) but yawning is not a simple subject.
So when does your dog show this?
Just before a walk?
That could be for a few reasons. Perhaps anticipating the good walk they will have with you, or maybe feeling frustrated that the leash is about to be attached and they can't move as freely as they would like.

Did you just yawn?
Dogs can mirror our yawns.
Not all dogs will do this, but some certainly do.

Feeling unsure or conflicted? That stress and anxiety creeping up?
It can be a calming signal when they're uncertain what is happening or perhaps they are in a situation they don't feel comfortable in.

Of course, just like us, they can be tired.

What we have to be cautious of is reading a yawn as just that, tiredness.
That limits all other reasons for this powerful communication signal and if you really want to start to understand your dog some more, a yawn is a great signal to decipher.

What we do...

It's movement, emotion, and escalation.
All in a split second.
Or it can take much longer.

Think of it as pressure rising. They are simmering and about to boil over.
That absolute focus on that trigger.

What did they do just before?
Ears move from forward to slicked back?
Maybe they were sticking right up?
Were they already showing signs they were starting to escalate?

What did you do just before?
Did you inadvertently walk directly at a trigger?
Push them just a little further because they were doing well (we have all been there).

Maybe you were both taken by surprise?
That happens to us all. Yep even trainers.
We can set up everything for a positive and "controlled" exposure session but the unexpected can always happen.
Always.

Being aware of loading can give you some power.
It also can give you options, but the time to put those options into play is rapidly closing, which is why it is so important to see the signs before this happens.

There's a lot of stages and changes before loading.

We just need to spot them
