Nagurus Nanus (Dwarf) isopod for terrarium and bioactive tank.

Porcellionides Pruinosus "Powder Blue" isopod for terrarium and bioactive tank.

A very popular isopod for bioactive tanks, the powder blues are fast and prolific, making for a very efficient clean up crew. The "powder" portion of their common name comes from the dusty appearance that the adults take on in between sheds.

Armadillidium Peraccae isopod for terrarium and bioactive tank.

Peraccae is a smaller species of Armadillidium native to Greece and italy. It breeds quite quickly and produces year round. The backs of peraccae are decorated as a unique bumpy surface.

Peraccae do well in temperate to semi-arid environments. They may have issues molting in tropical environments, and like to eat soft bodied plants.

What springtail do:

Springtails (Folsomia candida) are tiny arthropods (1-4 mm) and are used as "Tank Janitors" in a terrarium, eating mold and waste. They also make a great supplemental food for your Poison Dart Frogs or other animals that need tiny food. They can be dumped into your bioactive substrate.

Tip:

The soil in the habitat should be kept moist. Mist the habitat daily with room-temperature water to provide the necessary level of humidity. Do not allow the habitat to dry out. Isopods move away from light.

Cubaris Murina "little sea roly poly" isopod for terrarium and bioactive tank.

The original member of cubaris, these were first collected in Florida. Litters of murina may be as small as 2 babies. These isopods are quite small and endearing, and also roll up into a ball.

Murina do well in a range of environments, including tropical, temperate, and semi-arid. They enjoy eating soft bodied plants but are a docile roommate to sensitive reptiles and amphibians.
