George was brought to KD vet for diaphragmatic hernia repair. He was diagnosed with diaphragmatic hernia at the age of 2 months old. The organs in the abdomen were displaced to thoracic cavity due to the tear of diaphragm. He had difficulty in breathing especially after a full meal.

He has a circumferential tear on the right side of diaphragm. This had caused intestines and part of the liver entering the thoracic cavity.

Corrective surgery is performed and successfully replaced the organ to abdomen and closed the diaphragm. We can notice the huge difference in his breathing pattern right after surgery and a few weeks later.

He is now back to behaving like an excited kitten life, full of curiosity and playfulness to accompany his now normal growth.

On this glorious day, all vet clinics will be closed for a day (31st August 2024), resume operation tomorrow (1st September 2024)

Colby was referred for acute vomitting and severe abdominal pain. Blood tests showed jaundice, hepatitis and peritonitis, further diagnosis indicated active peritonitis and steatitis near area of quadrate and R medial liver lobes with presence of gall bladder mucocele.

Exploratory surgery confirmed gall bladder rupture with bile peritonitis and acute hepatitis. Cholecystectomy with common bile duct patency establishment as well as aggressive abdominal lavage were performed.

Colby was strong and calm throughout the surgery and slowly making his recovery day by day under the care of the nursing team and his owners.

The special *wink* was captured the day we decided that he can finally go home… perhaps he overheard our conversation with the owners 🤣

Meet Meaty, a sweet girl rescued from the streets after being through a major motor vehicle accident, crushing her pelvis and both hind legs, leaving her in a critical state.

Throughout her journey with us, she never failed to greet us with a wagging tail, licking our hands whenever we approach her, even though we can see how painful it can be. Her optimism guided us through her 5 hour orthopaedic surgery, 2X blood transfusion, her second major surgery for diaphragmatic hernia and pyometra & 30 days worth of critical care and supportive therapy.

Step by step, she made the recovery from total recumbency, dyspneic breath and constant vomitting, to being able to lift up her back on her own, take small steps and chasing after us; never forgetting to show us her appreciation every step of the way.

Glad to see her wagging her tail, chasing after us to kiss and lick us on the day of her discharge from the clinic. Keep your head held high Meaty and don’t ever stop wagging that tail 😊

C-arm fluoroscopy for intra-operative xrays and fluoroscopy.

Randolph came back for a visit 3-months after the initial tumor removal and skin grafting.
He is happily walking around with the wound healing completely, with a special appearance resembling the abdominal skin it was taken from.
Senior dogs deserve the best medical and surgical care too, give them the chance and they will persevere to show us they are strong fighters too 👏👏👏
