The outpouring of love for our sweet new intakes has been outstanding and has brought new followers and new applicants!
We thought this would be a good time to reintroduce our rescue and our policies, both general and specific to our Cocker Spaniel friends!
🚗 We currently accept applications from Wisconsin and Illinois. Why just those states? Because we have representation in those areas. We want to ensure all our dogs are within a few hours drives from representatives in the event anything changes, in home support is needed or if they get lost.
📋 We have a rigorous application and approval process. We have an application, a background check, a property verification, reference checks, vet check, landlord check, homevisit and then match making. Too much for you? That’s okay. We find it’s the right route for our dogs and that’s why we do this.
👩🏻⚕️ We take our vet checks seriously because we want to know you take your pet’s medical care seriously. Love is amazing and a total necessity, but it’s not all they need. An excellent vet check makes our hearts smile. (And while Cocker Spaniels are easy to love, they’re not always easy to care for! Grooming, ear and eye care issues are common and we want to be assured they won’t go without!)
🆓 We “work” for free. Yep, 100% volunteer run with no facility. Just wonderful fosters homes and volunteers doing what we do because we love dogs. Our dogs are all freely surrendered to us or transports from Texas, where all adoption fees go back. We run solely on donations, and every dollar goes to the dogs. And some to stamps to send you a thank you for your donation!
🏠 We don’t have a facility. All of our dogs in the program live with families while they await adoption. That means we don’t have public visiting hours or a telephone. We communicate through email to allow our volunteers to donate their time at their ability. (Y’all know if we had a 📞 you’d be blowing it up right now!). Be patient…patient people are the ones we like for our pooches!
💰 Our adoption fee is $250. Whether purebred or purely mutt, senior or puppy, big or small, they all have the same value to us, so we don’t raise or lower our fees. Even our sweet spaniels, who are each reaching upwards of $750 for full service care, will be adopted out for $250.
🐶 Many of our dogs never get listed publicly. Why? Because our preapproved adopters get first look and often they are matched without a need to ever be shared with the world. It’s a great reason to apply at paddyspaws.blogspot.com
We 100% recognize we won’t be the right rescue for everyone and that’s absolutely okay. There are amazing options out there through other shelters and rescues and an adoption from anywhere is a wonderful win for the rescue world as a whole!
