Dr Chang Teck Soon received the "Anugerah Mengenang Jasa" Award in 2023 from the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA) during the 23rd FAVA Congress and 33rd MAVMA Congress in Kuching last year. This award was presented to Dr Chang Teck Soon in recognition of her outstanding contribution and dedication to the veterinary profession and the MAVMA.

Dr Chang Teck Soon obtained her Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) in 1988 and is a life member of the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA), Malaysian Small Animal Veterinary Association (MSAVA), Sarawak Veterinary Association (SVA), and Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation (MNAWF). She established her own veterinary clinic in Miri in 1990. In her small animal practice, she has performed a variety of surgeries including splenectomy, enucleation, perineal urethrostomy, nictating membrane prolapse repair, herniorrhaphy, cystotomy, mastectomy, colostomy, orthopedic procedures, caesarean sections, dental care, and more.

Her clinic is equipped with haematology, serology, radiography, and ultrasonography facilities. Dr Chang Teck Soon actively participates in pet-related community and society work, rescuing strays and collaborating with local animal rescue NGOs. She volunteers her time in rabies mass vaccination campaigns organized by the Sarawak State Government and Department of Veterinary Sarawak during the outbreak in year 2018.

Dr Chang Teck Soon also mentors intern students from various veterinary-related programs at universities such as UPM in Bintulu and Serdang campuses, UMK, and Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Additionally, she visits schools upon request to educate students from kindergarten to secondary school on preventive health care for pets.
