Today, on World Pangolin Day, we spotlight one of the world's most endangered creatures. The pangolin is one of the planet's most unique creatures. These remarkable animals are the only mammals with scales from head to tail, and there are four species in Africa alone. But sadly, they are under threat. Poaching and habitat loss have made the pangolin the world's most trafficked mammal. On World Pangolin Day, let's raise awareness and take action. At N/a'an ku sê, we’re dedicated to conserving wildlife and their habitats.
Join us in raising awareness and protecting the pangolin for future generations.

Today, we honour the memory of a remarkable man, Tommy Collard - a true expert and conservationist, lovingly referred to by Dr. Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren as the Diamond of the Namib Desert. His deep knowledge of Namibia’s landscapes and unwavering passion for the living in the desert left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
Tommy was more than a friend - he was an inspiration. His dedication to preserving the beauty and integrity of Namibia's deserts reflected a heart as vast and resilient as the landscapes he loved. We will forever cherish the time spent with him, especially our adventures together in Wild Jobs Namibia - Groen. Tommy’s legacy will continue to inspire conservationists for generations to come." - Dr. Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren.
From everyone at Naankuse, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Tommy’s family. May his spirit live on in the wild places he so passionately protected.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours! ✨
A slippery situation at Harnas… This Boomslang, with a full belly from its latest meal, gracefully makes its way through the bush. These remarkable snakes are non-aggressive but highly venomous, and seeing one in action is a reminder of the delicate balance of nature at work.
On the 31st of July, we stand with the world's rangers!
Only when the last of the animals' horns, tusks, skin and bones are sold, will mankind realise that money can never buy back our wildlife.
Today on World Ranger Day we honour those men and women who protect the very wildlife that would otherwise be mercilessly slaughtered. Their dedication, compassion, courage and tenacity are saving today for tomorrow.
The costs for conservation ranger units run into the millions annually... an investment for the future. Only with the world uniting to support the soldiers of the bushveld, can our tireless teams keep on protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
By leaving a donation today you are adding your voice to the war against poaching and paying tribute to those sacrificing themselves for planet earth's most valuable assets... animals: https://naankusefoundation.salsalabs.org/apu0/index.html

Ostrich or Duck? You Decide!
Meet our resident ostrich who's having an identity crisis and pretending to be a duck! Watch as this big bird enjoys a splash in the pond, showing us that sometimes it's fun to break the rules and just go with the flow.
Whether it's waddling in the water or flaunting those feathers, this ostrich is definitely making a splash!

The Harnas Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary is home to many animals… those removed from situations of conflict or orphaned at young ages. Leopard, Dolce, is just one of the furry sanctuary residents who likes nothing more than enjoying her breakfast… with a view. Yes, this beautiful big cat hoists her tasty treats into treetops. Nothing beats dining atop the expanses of the beautiful reserve. Bon appetit!

Olivia Update (Sound On): Our little Oryx is growing by leaps and bounds! She's been moved to a grassy area to encourage her natural grazing behaviour, and she's taken to it like a champ. Olivia loves nibbling on grass and considers lucerne pellets the perfect dessert after her regular milk feedings.
Her wound has healed beautifully, but she still needs a weekly bandage change as we patiently wait for the skin to cover the last bit of tissue. Soon, her body will naturally form a hard pad she can use for stepping. Olivia's progress is heartwarming, and so grateful for all the love and care she's receiving. Stay tuned for more updates on our little darling!
