HOW TO LOWER YOUR BLOOD PREASURE WITH SMALL CHANGES.
πŸ§‚πŸ₯‘πŸ₯πŸ₯¦πŸ₯¬πŸ₯’πŸŽπŸ‡πŸ‹πŸŠ

You don't have to embark on a major life overhaul to make a difference in your blood pressure. Here are six simple tips for actions you can take to help get your blood pressure back into the normal range.
Reducing your blood pressure can help protect you from heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, eye disease, and even cognitive decline. The goal of the new guidelines is to encourage you to treat your high blood pressure seriously and to take action to bring it down, primarily using lifestyle interventions. "It is well documented that lifestyle changes can lower blood pressure as much as pills can, and sometimes even more.

Making those changes can be challenging. More than one woman has woken up in the morning committed to healthy eating only to be derailed by a plate of cookies on a table in the office or a dinner out with friends.

1. Lose weight
By far the most effective means of reducing elevated blood pressure is to lose weight, says Fisher. And it doesn't require major weight loss to make a difference. Even losing as little as 10 pounds can lower your blood pressure.

2. Read labels
The recommended total amount, which is 1,500 milligrams (mg) daily for individuals with high blood pressure, It doesn't take much sodium to reach that 1,500-mg daily cap β€” just 3/4 of a teaspoon of salt. There's half of that amount of sodium in one Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwich. W**d out high-sodium foods by reading labels carefully. "It is very difficult to lower dietary sodium without reading labels, unless you prepare all of your own food," Beware in particular of what the American Heart Association has dubbed the "salty six," common foods where high amounts of sodium may be lurking.
breads and rolls
cold cuts and cured meats
pizza
poultry
soup
sandwiches.
Fast food.
There is some Healty food that can help you to reduce your blood pressure. Like:

CITRUS. Orange. Lemon, tangerine or lime.
Fatty fish rich in omega 3, like Salmon. Taitus and Sardines.
Green leaves. Vegetables
Pumping seeds
Beans and lentils
Pistachios
Celery and carrots.
Berries
Tomatoes
Add them to your daily diet.

3. Get moving
It doesn't take much exercise to make a difference in your health. Aim for a half-hour at least five days a week. "Make sure you're doing something you love, or it won't stick," "For some that means dancing; for others, biking or taking brisk walks with a friend." Even everyday activities such as gardening can help.

4. Pump some iron
"Add some weightlifting to your exercise regimen to help lose weight and stay fit. Women lose muscle mass steadily as we age, and weightlifting is an often-overlooked part of an exercise plan for most women,"

5. Limit alcohol to one drink per day
Drinking too much, too often, can increase your blood pressure, so practice moderation.

6. Relieve stress with daily meditation or deep breathing sessions.
Stress hormones constrict your blood vessels and can lead to temporary spikes in blood pressure. In addition, over time, stress can trigger unhealthy habits that put your cardiovascular health at risk. These might include overeating, poor sleep, and misusing drugs and alcohol. For all these reasons, reducing stress should be a priority if you're looking to lower your blood pressure.

Do regulars blood pressure check up.

Plant scientist advises Nigerians to eat mushrooms to prevent cancer, others
August 24, 2020 adminer Health 0

A Plant Physiologist, Dr Olufunmilayo Idowu, has advised Nigerians to eat mushrooms because of its antioxidants content that could protect the human body against cancer.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday, Idowu of the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) said some species of mushrooms have selenium and ergothioneine, antioxidants good for the body.

She said that Oyster mushrooms, the genus pleurotus, were reputed for their content ?of antioxidants, which scavenge for free radicals in the body and bind with the agents to prevent them from causing unnecessary cell division.

The plant physiologist explained that the cell division could result into tumor, cancer and some other disease conditions.

Idowu said that mushrooms were also reputed to lower blood pressure due to the high concentration of an enzyme, statin, and prevent diabetes and heart related issues as they contain no cholesterol and were low in carbohydrate.

According to her, mushrooms are high in quality protein containing all the essential amino acids which are lacking in most vegetables.

She added that they also contain vitamins and minerals which are essential for human health and prevent the manifestation of the deficiency symptoms of vitamins in their consumers.

Idowu said that people could easily cultivate mushrooms in their homes because it required only small piece of land to grow.

The plant scientist said further that mushroom cultivation could serve as a means of generating employment, particularly for rural women and youths so as to raise their social status and reduce unemployment rate.

β€œBy engaging in mushroom cultivation, farmers could contribute successfully and significantly to the economic development.

β€œIt will also provide additional work for the farmers during off season when farming schedule is light.

β€œSome cultivated mushrooms from NIHORT are: King Oyster mushroom, Pleurotus Tuberregium, Milky White mushroom, Calocybe aegerita, Oyster mushroom, Pleurotus Pulmonarius, among others,” she said.

According to her, mushrooms have global demand because of their unique taste, health and economic benefits.

Idowu added that mushrooms are fat and cholesterol free, very low in sodium, rich in important nutrients especially those not found in high quantity in other fresh produce and satisfy the need of health conscious individuals.

β€œMushrooms are known for food and medicine; some are edible or medicinal while some are both edible and medicinal as well.

β€œIn spite of the great benefits from mushroom production, reports have shown that Africa produces less than 0.3 per cent of the total world, production while Nigeria had no production record as at 2017.

β€œGovernment at all levels should harness the potentials of this socioeconomic commodity so as to create more jobs, improve the livelihood of farmers and the national economy by extension,” Idowu said.

How the lowly mushroom is becoming a nutritional star

More
Mushrooms are often considered only for their culinary use because they are packed with flavor-enhancers and have gourmet appeal. That is probably why they are the second most popular pizza topping, next to pepperoni.

In the past, food scientists like me often praised mushrooms as healthy because of what they don’t contribute to the diet; they contain no cholesterol and gluten and are low in fat, sugars, sodium and calories. But that was selling mushrooms short. They are very healthy foods and could have medicinal properties, because they are good sources of protein, B-vitamins, fiber, immune-enhancing sugars found in the cell walls called beta-glucans, and other bioactive compounds.

Mushrooms have been used as food and sometimes as medicine for centuries. In the past, most of the medicinal use of mushrooms was in Asian cultures, while most Americans have been skeptical of this concept. However, due to changing consumer attitudes rejecting the pharmaceutical approach as the only answer to healing, that seems to be changing.

I study the nutritional value of fungi and mushrooms, and my laboratory has conducted a great deal of research on the lowly mushroom. We have discovered that mushrooms may be even better for health than previously known. They can be excellent sources of four key dietary micronutrients that are all known to be important to healthy aging. We are even looking into whether some of these could be important in preventing Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Four key nutrients
Important nutrients in mushrooms include selenium, vitamin D, glutathione and ergothioneine. All are known to function as antioxidants that can mitigate oxidative stress and all are known to decline during aging. Oxidative stress is considered the main culprit in causing the diseases of aging such as cancer, heart disease and dementia.
