Your giant puppy is destined for big things—and as they grow, they have big nutritional needs.
Giant breed dogs have the longest growth period out of other sized dogs—that’s why ROYAL CANIN growth formulas for giant-sized dogs come in two stages: Giant Puppy and Giant Junior.
As they grow in size, their bones and joints are building a foundation for their giant frame. What you feed them now sets them up for a healthy, happy life as an adult.

We know that it can be hard to resist begging but did you know that many holiday foods pose a great danger to your four-legged companion? It may seem innocent enough to slip a few extra morsels of dinner or dessert under the table to a begging canine or feline friend, but some meal scraps can be hazardous for your pet.

One of the many joys of the holidays is to beautify our homes with the decorations of the season. However, with all the celebrating going on, it’s easy to miss the potential dangers of twinkling lights and pretty ornaments to your pets. Protect your pets this holiday season and avoid a possible emergency visit to the veterinarian by keeping ornaments out of reach from your pets.

The holidays are a busy time of year for people, and all the hustle and bustle can affect dogs, too. Here are some things you can do to help ease the stress your dog may be experiencing at this time of year.

1) The holidays can change your routines but this can be unsettling to your pet. Try to stick to their walk and mealtime routine as much as possible.

2) Don't forget your pet in the midst of the holiday celebrations! Your dog might need some extra reassurance and cuddles during the calmer moments.

3) Make sure their food and water bowls are topped up. This will help prevent begging behaviours.

4) Give them a safe space to relax. Your dog might become irritable if tired or overstimulated so make sure they have a safe place to rest and relax away from the festivities.

Around the holidays, houses often fill with additional family members and friends. This added commotion can create a crowded, noisy atmosphere that can be overwhelming for your dog and cat, adding more stress to an already stressful time.

Protect your pets during this nerve-wracking season with these tips:

- Make sure your pet has a quiet space to retreat to

- If your pet is nervous around strangers let your guests know and ask them to give your pet space

- Make sure your pet has proper identification - pet escapes increase during the holidays

- Stay on schedule as much as possible to minimise the disruption at home

Hopefully, these tips will help fill your holidays with more cheer than stress for you and your pets.

Is a dog or cat on your holiday gift list? Learn why pets are more than just a gift and how planning for one can make a world of difference.

Many pet experts - advise that people must think differently about pets as gifts. Unlike a toy, clothing, or jewelry, pets are gifts that last the lifetime of the pet: not just the holiday season. You don’t gift a pet; you

Socially responsible pet ownership begins with these considerations:

1) Find the right type: Every dog (and every cat) is different, so it’s important to consider what type will be best; energy levels, temperament, grooming needs, and size.

2) Think pet first: Dogs and cats bring many physical and mental health benefits, but many people underestimate the time and effort needed to care for a pet. You’ll have to be committed to giving a lot of time and attention to your pet – and that may not always be convenient for you.

3) Give a warm welcome: The holidays are a busy time, with lots of friends, family, and celebrations. You might not
have the time required to help your pet adjust to its new environment during those very important first few days and
weeks.

4) Involve everyone: No unexpected pets. Involve everyone who will live with the cat or dog in the decision to find
the right one. You’ll need to plan how your pets’ needs will be met, even if you aren’t the one who can meet them.

5) Be prepared for the unexpected: Pets can be pricey; basic supplies and regular grooming adds up, and experts recommend setting aside some money for unexpected expenses.

6) Find a veterinarian: Before you bring home a new pet you should identify a veterinarian to provide important vaccinations, preventive care, and regular health examinations.

7) Create a pet care primer: A pet starter kit is great for you and also makes a thoughtful gift. Items to include in the package: premium food based on the pet’s unique needs, basic grooming tools, a collar, leash, etc.

They need a diet that provides them with all the energy and nutrients they need to sustain healthy growth. That’s why we have created the ROYAL CANIN® Puppy Growth Program, a stage-based feeding solution containing all the nutrients a puppy needs so your puppy always gets the right food at the right time.
