The Ten Commandments of Dog Ownership.

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very hard and painful for me. Remember that before you adopt me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me. Please be patient with me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well being.
4. Do not be angry with me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I only have you!
6. Talk to me, even if I do not understand your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me. You only have to look at my tail!
7. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it!
8. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you. (DON'T HIT YOUR DOG!)
9. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I am in pain or sick, or my heart might be getting weak and I cannot tell you.
10 Take care of me when I get old, you too will grow old someday.
Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, β€œI can’t bear to watch it” or, β€œlet it happen in my absence.” Everything is easier for me if you are there.

** And always remember, I Love You!

We have a huge supporter of the work done here who gave us some boxes of dog food.

This unfortunately can only be given to Nigerian based pet owners because of logistics issues.

I want us to get this done in a few weeks to 1 month.

Are you interested to know details?

I'll share soon.

Please tag your friends that you want to partake.

Pain can cause reduced appetite in pets.

Before you pump in multivitamins, check for pain in different body parts.

You should especially check the mouth (including teeth), neck/ throat etc.

Get your vet in the know if you discover reaction of pain.

Please be careful in giving pain relievers, not all are good for your pets.

Some will go ahead to cause ulcer, with increased dose or overuse

There is trouble looming....big trouble.

Can you imagine a state in which there is no longer an effective antibiotic to cure infections?

Yes! that's where we are going...

πŸ’ŠIf you keep self-medicating with antibiotics whether you need it or not.

πŸ’ŠWhen you keep prescribing antibiotics for your friends and family because you have diagnosed them of typhoid.

πŸ’ŠWhen you don't care about the source of your chicken whether the poor things just got antibiotics yesterday ( and put them through the knife today).

Please, take action!

You have a part to play.

Expect more of this because it's World Antibiotic Awareness Week 2022, November 18-24.

I love you and I want us all to care about your health, mine and that of the globe.

Let's talk about bathing your dogs.

A lot of pet owners have one or two things to say about their dog's skin.

Either one issue or the other.

It is a nice feeling when your dog's skin coat is perfectly shiny with no blemish odors.

Here are a few tips to guide you.

The choice of how frequently your dog should be bathed depends a lot on their breed and coat type.

The more hair, the more work as well as the more frequent the baths.

For medium to large coated dogs weekly to 4-weekly can be fine.

But in between, there should be grooming of the hair, nail clippings, ear cleaning, hair brushing etc.

The lifestyle, environment , ease of shedding, proneness to doggie odor, state of health and that of the skin are also factors to consider.

Too much bathing will strip away much oil from the skin and cause it to be dry.

There are substances or chemicals that you shouldn't use to bath your dogs.

E.g.disinfectant like Dettol or izal. These things don't kill ticks so pls don't use them because they are harsh on your pets skin.

Do not use medicated soap and

human shampoo because the pH of human skin is higher than that of our pets' skin.

Always use pet approved products.

I hope this helps.

To your pet's holistic health.

Pls share with others that need this.

So there's this case we had in the hospital this week and I want to use it to educate you.

The puppy is just about 3 months old and was presented with some growths in the mouth and the opening of the a**s.

The little fella's appetite had reduced a d this may be because of the growths in the mouth.

This brings to mind the case if some dogs that were referred to our hospital done years ago.

The growths were bigger and we're also on the skin.

They are called WARTS.

Depending on the site on the body of your dogs, they may be painful; like the ones in the mouth of this puppy.

If they are in the skin there may be not reason to worry?

They are self limiting - this means that they will go on their own. The body takes care of them.

Especially as the dogs ages to around 2 years.

Otherwise because of aesthetic reasons, surgery can be done and a cytotoxic drug- drugs that kills cells can be given strictly by your Vet.

So if your dog has this, simply calm down, ...

See your vet, let him or her examine, make diagnosis and choose the best treatment option.

Show kindness to them πŸ˜ƒ

Even though multiple people saw a little puppy get hit by a car on a road in Atlanta, Georgia, only one person stopped. A musician named Kelechief.

Kelechief immediately pulled over and dodged traffic to reach the pup, who was critically injured. He then ensured the puppy received medical care.

Get ready, because this story has THE BEST ending. While Dolph was recovering, Kelechief adopted him. ❀️ -amy

Low blood in your pets? Check this..

Natural Tip to manage anaemia on your pet.

If your dog is in a situation where the blood level is low , there is a natural supplement that can help.

Before I tell you, I hope you know the causes of anaemia in your dog or cat.

I have shared this in times past on this page.
If you want me to share again, simply request in the comment section.

Another thing you need to know is that this is not for anaemia of all causes.

But if your dog or cat is under treatment, having lost some blood and he or she is recuperating, then you can use this. I have used it before and it helps to improve the PCV.

FINALLY, ensure that you carry your vet along in its use.
So it is the leaf of a plant called fluted pumpkin (ugu leaf)

We eat it a lot in Nigeria and it's been proven to help with improving PCV (blood level).

HOW TO USE.

Like I said earlier, your pet is assumed to be recovering; so he could be on a purΓ©e or liquid diet.

You simply wash the leaves in water to ensure they are clean.

Then get a little clean water and wash or squeeze the leaves so as to extract the juice of the leaves. After doing this, add 1 tablespoonful morning and night to your pet's food or give with spoon or syringe.

After about 3 to 7days , the blood level can be checked for improvement.

I hope you find this helpful.
Remember I want you to have healthy pets ✌️.
