You could be saving yourself or a friend against Rabies virus.

TIPS : For humans.

* Wash the surface of the bite wound with soap and running water for 10 minutes and disinfect with either ethanol or iodine.
*Report to the Federal medical center near you.
* Human Rabies Immunoglobulin and Rabies vaccine should be given on the first day of incident, repeat on the 3,7, 14 and 28 days.

For dogs:
Report to the nearest registered Veterinarian.
In all, vaccinate your pets as and when due to avoid stories.

A very short story!!

Last week, someone was bitten by a dog and she didn't take it seriously neither did she report that she was bitten by a rabid dog. Some days later, she began to feel feverish and she was given some concoctions to drink and had some to take back to school.

After some days had gone and she wasn't getting any better, she opened up that she was bitten by a dog and by then, it was already late. By midnight, she started barking like a dog and died.

That dog was owned by someone who doesn't know or understand why dogs and cats should be vaccinated.

For this reason, the Veterinary teaching hospital of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in conjunction with the Federal ministry of Agriculture and rural development are providing free anti-rabies vaccination in Abia state. It is a free medical outreach and also to sensitize people about the disease.
It is starting tomorrow and running through the month of May.
Go to the teaching hospital to vaccinate your pets.

Always report cases of dog bites.
