RABBIT KIT MORTALITY🐰🐰🐰

I've actually heard people complain of high rate of mortality in their farm and this could be as a result of several factors.

Rabbit kits are very tender and can get predisposed to diseases when conditions are unfavorable. So as a farmer, you should try as much as possible to put up with good management practice.

When your rabbit (doe) litters, observe the following:

🐰 Use a good litter box, avoid very small or boxes with tangled wire mersh.

🐰 Make sure you check the box for dead kits to avoid attraction of soldier ants.

🐰 Ensure there is adequate feed and water for the doe to avoid kits cannibalism.

🐰 When you notice the kits jumping out the box, remove them from the kindling box to ensure all are well fed.

🐰 Always feed the doe with grasses like tridax, bitter leaf and scent leaf because these leaves contains antioxidants that helps to combat coccidiosis.

🐰 Don't always touch the kits as they can easily contact germs and bacteria which will later cause infection.

🐰 Make sure the cages are well covered with wood or wire mersh to avoid predator pe*******on.

🐰 Always make sure you wean your kits around 6-7weeks of age. But with very good feeding management practice and experience, you can still wean at 5 weeks.

At the end of the day, have it at the back of your mind that no matter how careful you are, at times, some things are just bound to happen.🥺 You just have to try your best and leave the rest to God.

ADVANTAGES_OF_RABBIT_FARMING

Below are the Main Advantages of Rabbit
farming:
✅ Rabbits are highly prolific and a good
female can produce 25 to 30 kits
(young ones) per year.
✅ Rabbits can be reared in small groups
(up to 50 rabbits.) in the garden/backyard of farmer's house
with kitchen waste as feed. Family
labor is adequate to take care of the
labor requirements of the unit.
✅ The initial investment cost is low.
✅ Quick returns i.e. within six months after the establishment of the farm.

✅ Rabbit meat is rich in poly-unsaturated
fatty acids and is categorized as white
meat.

✅ Rabbits are the best producers of wool
on per kg body weight basis. They
require 30 % less digestible energy to
produce one kg of wool as compared
to sheep.
✅ Income generation at quarterly interval
makes the repayment easy.
✅ Apart from providing wool, rabbits also
provide income from the sale of kits, meat, pelt, and manure.
✅ Residual feed, together with rabbit
manure is highly suitable for vermicompost which in turn provides
excellent manure for fertilizing the agriculture fields.
✅ Rabbit wool is 6-8 times warmer than
the contemporary sheep wool. It can
be mixed with silk, polyester, rayon,
nylon, sheep wool and other fibers to make good quality handlooms as well as hand knitted apparels.
✅ Rabbits consume a large amount of
forage from diverse origins and hence,
can be reared on roughage with very
less quantíty of costly concentrate
feed.

COMMON MISTAKE IN RABBITS BUSINESS

Thousands of people are breeding rabbits every day by day due to the money they heard people making on it and the success on it. Most people breed rabbit because they saw some of their friend breeding it. And some are breeding it because of the high come on it .. well that's good. You welcome to the breeding family.
I have a question for you today and the question is how can you breed rabbit without losing them?

Some people might have been telling you the success in rabbit business bur have they ever told you the mistake they made ? Or is it that they didn't do any mistakes.

Here are the common mistakes they make 👇👇👇

📌 Before starting the business you need to ask yourself is this business for me ? If your answer is yes then you are good to start. Cus most people breed rabbit with conventous, they breed rabbit because of the high income on it and they no nothing about rabbit not to talk of breeding them. So you have to ask yourself the question that is these business for me .

📌 No Passion : when you don't have passion for the rabbit you might end up losing them or give up on them .

📌 Inconsistency in feeding: when you're not consistent in feeding them, you might end up losing them . Cus maybe you feed them three times a day and later due to the rate of the food they consume you decide to feed them once so this might affect them .

📌 Inconsistency in Time : when you're not consistent in your time of feeding them, you might end up losing them. For example you're not consistent in the time you're feeding them maybe you feed them by 8 today and tomorrow feed them by 9 .. that means you're not consistent in time you feed them so you might end up losing them.

📌 Inconsistency in cleaning: when you're not consistent in cleaning their cage you might end up losing them.
