POULTRY WASTE TO FEED

Right from my project in the university, I focused on converting and recycling animal waste to feed and it's been awesome.

You don't need to waste anything, including the feathers.

They're are highly needed in animal feed production.

I was asked a question on a Lagos Radio Station yesterday:

"Why is it that must graduates of Agriculture hardly go into agribusiness?"

I will love to get your thoughts.
I am putting up a book on this.

Is it because of the: capital, interest, passion, something they know others don't know, fear, or others?

Thanks for your contribution.

WHY NIGERIA MIGHT EXPERIENCE SCARCITY OF FOOD NEXT YEAR.

It's on the News that most Farm lands across different states in Nigeria have been submerged by flood.
Especially, one of the largest Rice farms in Africa. Olam International Rice Farm is seated on a 13,500 hectares of land.

This is one of the worst Natural disaster that has affected the country in the past decades.

Unfortunately, this is not completely an unforseen circumstances but a penalty for negligence.
10 years ago July 2012, the flood invaded our farm lands and destroyed lives and properties. There was a prediction of a possible reoccurrence which is what we are seeing now.

We call on the government to not just give relief materials but to find a lasting solution to this disaster.

Also, an alternative source of stable food should be looked into avoid famine added to our already struggling economy.

FIFTEEN THOUSAND BIRDS GONE?

I saw this photo yesterday; a flooded farm. In the poster's comment section, he stated that they lost about 15,000 matured birds and this reminded me of a similar situation that happened to one of my Lecturer's farm. In shock and confusion, he ended the class and he told me that he got a call that his farm was flooded.

HOW NOT TO BE A VICTIM
Before purchase a land, check the history of the land. Not just what you can see at the moment.
Some people buy their land or rent a pen during the dry/summer season. When it gets to raining/winter, they start noticing flood or other environmental disasters/pollution.
Some areas experience flooding once in several years. Some, once in about 10 to 20 years and even more. My Lecturer was a victim of this kind of flooding.

Getting the history of an area before purchasing a land or building is mandatory.

Ask questions from those who know the land; not just the owners of the land/pen, please. Some people are not sincere. They just want to sell out their problems.

Do your soil test.

Finally, note, flooding is not the only disaster that destroy's a farm. Ask questions about everything.
