FEMALE DOG AND HER PUPPIES

Puppies are completely helpless when they are born, they can generally find the mother's teats on their own. Despite being deaf and blind and their sense of smell not working well enough, they can sense the mother's teats with the help of their tactile perception(perception of touch) and the instinctive oscillating movements her ni***es make. Drinking the first milk, also known as colostrum, is particularly important for the development of puppies, since it contains important maternal antibodies and protects them from pathogens. Which is very important in protection of the puppies as they grow.

Lying down while breastfeeding (day 1-12)

1. It enables the puppies to find the mother’s teats easily.
2. It helps the mother to warm the puppies (new born puppies cannot regulate their body temperature). Without the warmness of the mother, the puppies will die.

Sitting down while breastfeeding (day 13-20)

1. To strengthen the puppies legs
2. Allowing them to have their first fall

Standing up while breastfeeding(day 21-35)

1. To strengthen their legs especially the hind leg.
