Hypothermia simply means low body temperature,chilling.It is usually caused by prolong exposure to cold Environmental temperature.This conditions usually affect newborn puppies,because they cannot control thier body temperature,so it is important to note that before a mother gives birth a warm enviroment be created ahead(preferably indoors) for whelping.
-The new born puppies should always be kept close to the mother for warmth.
- The litter mates get warmth from each other,so it is also important to keep them together.
-Extra source of heat could be provided using heat lamps,light bulbs or hot water bottles(under a blanket).
Remember to keep an eye on both mom and newborn Always.

You may have heard the word "pedigree" a couple of times.There have been arguements as regards what makes a dog a pedigree,I stumbled on a simple explanation by one of the finest breeders in Nigeria,he simply put:
"Some people always think the term
Pedigree in dogs means good looking dog. "No be all Pedigree dogs dey fine for face o." Understand the term well if you want move forward in breeding. Especially as a breeder. A Pedigree Dog is a dog whose ancestral records are kept for up to 3-4 and above generations. Such records are not by mouth o. They are approved by a registry set aside to do so and a Certificate is issued containing all the information of your dog including that of his or her ancestors up to 3-4 generations before him or her. Meaning Father and mother, grandparents, great grandparents etc. Note that if a dog is Pedigree he or she may not look physically appealing but the gene it carries may be super. So next time you want to ask for a Pedigree know what it means. Sometimes sef a non Pedigree dog will appear more appealing to the eyes than the Pedigree. But Pedigree will guide you on your breeding if you are a breeder or aspiring breeder. Note: Peds don't come cheap irrespective of the phenotype (physical appearance)

-Weaning should start once the puppies turn 3 weeks.
-Kibbles soaked in warm water for about 10 mins,works just fine.
- Introduce little bit of the this soaked kibbles to them in a pan.They would usually trace the gruel with their nostrils and eat if the food is appealing.
- As days go by,add minced meat/fish,boiled eggs or puppy milk replacers to the meal(protein does the magic).
-The seperation process is should be gradually,as puppies learn important behaviours from mom and littermates(signs of dominance,biting and submission)
- Generally the process should be completed by 7/8 weeks,remember to always keep puppies and their space dry and clean.
-Deworm regularly and always check with your vet(he/she is should be your wingman) if there are issues beyond you.Good luck

I know getting kibbles and canned food for your pets this period could be stressful,here is a quick homemade recipe,this recipe has all basic nutritional needs for your pet
-Carbohydrates.
A small bowl(mudu) of rice that should be about 9 cups.
-Protein
2 kilos of fish/chicken/Beef.when using chicken or fish boil and debone.This is safe especially for puppies.
-Vitamins
Leafy vegetables,tomatoes and carrots.
-Fat
Vegetable oil.
-Minerals
A cup of Cray fish would do.
Cook as usual with minimal salt and no seasoning,divide into 7 parts and refrigerate,warm and serve each part daily,this usually last about a week for my boerboel.Most importantly serve along with clean water.Bye for now.
