A Gross revenue of #10,125,000 million is obtained from 10 a res of Soursop plantation. This is expected revenue yearly starting from the fourth.

After the fourth year, operating cost yearly afterwards is estimated at #3,750,000.. thus; #10,125,000 - #3,750,000 = #6,375,000.. This means your net revenue yearly after the first fourth year is #6,375,000.

NOW THAT THE FLOOD HAS COME AGAIN, HOW DO WE PRODUCE ENOUGH CASSAVA TUBER FOR OUR 2024 NATIONAL CONSUMPTION?

In the interest of our Nation, we all need to partake in cassava cultivation this year. This we have to do either directly or indirectly. This is the only move that can guarantee affordable access to essential food products of cassava origin comes next year.

One reason is the fact that the next cycle of cassava scarcity falls in 2024. And another ugly indicator is the effect of flood situation as it affect farming activities in some areas. We have seen the traces of this effect in this year supply of foods like garri, fufu, lafun etc, not only in the areas affected by last year flood but all across this country. Suddenly, a ton of cassava tuber that is ordinarily sold for N25,000 around this time has jumped to N40,000 in many areas. Even N50,000 and above in some areas.

So many cassava farmers I know in Delta State, Rivers State and Bayelsa State have started lamenting on the effect of flood on their farm. They are being forced to harvest cassava tubers of the sizes of potatoes. Else, the whole lots will rotten away. I have not heard such reports from Benue axis yet but I am aware that many areas in the state suffered the same fate last year. The sad thing is that they will have to wait till the flood subside in November or December before they can begin to plant, which they may be forced to again harvest prematurely by mid 2024.

South West and other regions in the North just have to either double their Cultivation of cassava this year or the entire Nation run into crisis of high food prices comes next year. These are the regions that will help cushion the effect of short supply from the flood affected areas comes 2024.

This year, we have all seen the effect of the pull pressure of cassava and its products from these affected region on every other part of the country. If this persists without any intervention, I doubt if a custard rubber of garri will not be sold at N2,000 by year 2024.

While we are hoping and waiting for an appropriate intervention from government to put an end to the yearly flooding of these affected areas, it is important we look inward and deploy our collective resources to increase food production in those areas that are presently without incidence of flood in order to save the entire nation from this imminent hunger.

Edo,Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi and other flood- safe areas that are closer to South East and South South seriously need to double their efforts in cultivation of cassava tuber this year. Farmers and agro investors in South East and South South can partner these areas to achieve excess production.

Without such intervention, it will be difficult to have adequate quantity of tubers for domestic supply as industrial pull would be more favoured because of their price offer advantage.

Cassava tuber plays a very important role in food security of Nigeria. And it is the duty of everyone of us across the nation to play our part at this challenging time.

Therefore, 10 acres = 12,000 litters of oil annually.

The oil is being sold per gallons(25 litters), therefore,
12,000/25litters=480 gallons.

Each gallons is sold within the range of 15–25k.

Therefore, N15,000 x 480gallons=N7,200,000

A Gross revenue of #7,200,000 million is obtained from Red Palm Oil. This is expected revenue yearly starting from the fourth year onward, only from the red oil production.

We can also get 1.5 Metric Tonnes of Palm Kernel per Hectare annually. This gives us 6 Tonnes from 10 acres. This translates to annual income of N2,400,000 million.

Total income realizable is about N7,200,000 + N2,400,000 = N9,600,000million while the annual operating expenses is put at N2,700,000 million.

This leaves you with a Net income of N6,900,000 million annually for the next 20-30yrs

There are still other sources of income such as palm fronds and palm kernel shells.
