When it comes to feeding your dog, one of the most common questions we receive from customers is, "How often should I feed my dog?"

The answer usually depends on several factors, including their age, breed, weight, and activity level. Here's a starting guide to help you get it right:

Puppies: Puppies require more frequent feedings than adult dogs. Generally, you should feed them 3-4 times a day until they are 6 months old, then switch to twice-a-day feedings. These meals should be smaller in size but given more frequently.

Adult dogs: Most adult dogs do well with two meals a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. However, some dogs may do better with smaller, more frequent meals. If your dog has a history of gastrointestinal issues, talk to your vet about the best feeding schedule for them.

It all started with a dog named Ruby...

Our first puppy! It's actually Chads' first pet as I've had a family dog and cat growing up, but never one that was 100% my own.

Everybody knows the tremendous responsibility it is to care for and own a pet. Because at the end of the day, it's not just a dog, it's a family member.

This is the whole reason why we're here today, and the driving force behind Raw Dawg. We wanted to give Ruby the best opportunity at a fulfilling life that she could get; full of love, affection, and of course, the best food a dog can eat.

I think like most pet owners, we want to see our furry family live forever and without illness or suffering. The one thing we kept coming across while researching raw diets for dogs was the testimonials from other owners feeding raw that saw improved quality of life and either reversal of illness or, in some cases, a complete lack of illness all together.

So we started Ruby the day we got her at 7 weeks old and now we have seen first hand what a difference it makes 6 years later and people still ask how old our young puppy is!

We knew that raw feeding came at a higher cost than feeding a conventional kibble diet, but we also knew that illness and diseases later in life would probably cost us more in the end (not only physically but emotionally as well).

It was a no brainer for us to make the switch to raw an investment for her future health and wellness, and for ours as well.

Chad and I spent over a decade working in the medical system, him as a nurse and myself as a behavioural therapist 🏨

We both witnessed what affect poor nutrition and food quality has on the body and believe that the coprnerstone of preventitive health comes from a clean diet and highly nutritious food.

Right before we got Ruby, we started researching lots about what kind of food to feed her.

After countless hours spent reading and researching, it was a no brainer for us to start feeding her a raw diet right away.

She is the thriving and happy dog she is today because of her diet, and we constantly get asked if she’s a puppy (she’s almost 6) because of how shiny her coat is and how clean her teeth are.

It was when we moved to Nicaragua a year and a half ago and realized that there was no commercial raw food available for her that Raw Dawg was born.
