Hi everyone! ☺️

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Joy, I’m 3 years old, and I’m going to become ‘the new Happy’ 😜

After she turned 12 years old in January, Happy officially retired as humom’s service dog. That doesn’t mean that she can’t help with anything anymore, just that she can now take it a whole lot slower, help where she likes, and enjoy her older age. But of course humom still needs as much help as she did before Happy retired, so she started looking for a new dog to train. And that’s where I came in the picture.

Humom saw me on Facebook, where my photos were shared by a friend of hers. At that time I was still living in Romania, because yes, I’m a foreigner 😉 Apparently I looked really good in my photos, because as humom says: I walked straight into her heart. She applied to adopt me, and that’s how I came to the Netherlands. I walked into humom’s life as if I’ve always been here. I love everything here: Happy, the bunnies, humom’s caregivers, all the nice people and doggies that live in the neighborhood… Overall I’m just a big ball of love and enthusiasm 🤩

So far humom and I have had two official training sessions with our new trainer Jacqueline, and we’re both enjoying it so much - and so does Happy! We’re growing closer together every day through the training exercises. Happy is such a good big sister: she proudly shows me everything I’m supposed to learn eventually, and I always watch very closely and very interested. Including many many head tilts 🥰

Of course we’re going to share my whole journey on here, both about my training and about our daily life. And of course we’ll also keep telling you guys everything about how Happy is doing!

I’m so pleased to meet everyone on this page 🎉

“Hey, humom! Guess what? You’re not okay. I can sense it. You may try to pretend that there’s nothing wrong, but you don’t fool me. I know you better. Will you please lay down for me? I’ll come cuddle with you if you do, because I know that always makes you feel better!” - Happy 🐾

Spoiler: she was (of course) totally right. Less than 10 minutes after she started signaling, I had a pretty bad seizure.
Seizures are the worst, not only the loss of control over my body, but also the amount of pain afterwards. Happy was right about something else too, though: bad things are made infinitely better by her presence and cuddles!

Goooooob morning world 🤩 This was me this morning, sleeping so nice against humom’s chest with her arm wrapped around me. So so so comfy and warm! Do you see my smile? That’s because my humom lets me feel safe and so very loved. She always says she’s proud to be my person, and I tell her all the time that I’m proud to be her pup too 🥰

Hi everyone, Jackie here! Happy graciously allowed me to write something 😜
I just want to quickly show you the amazingly adorable thing my parents did for Happy’s birthday: they gave her a card that they wrote the sweetest message on, with a bag with 11 treats attached to it, because she’s 11 years old. How cute is that! ❤️
Also, take a quick second to admire my mom’s handwriting 😲
Happy doesn’t have time to be here right now, she’s too busy with one of the 11 treats, but I’m sure she sends her love to you all - as do I 🥰🐾

- That’s Chinese food, baby.
‘Can me has some?’
- No, this is people food, not dog food.
‘It smells like eggies, and eggies is dog food, right?’
- It is eggies, but with a lot of other stuff mixed in, so they’re not Happy-eggs this time. Sorry!
‘But it smells like I’d love it…’
- It smells like it’d give you a tummy ache and diarrhea.
‘But how will me know for sure if me can’t try a little wittle bite?’
- Ohh my gosh, Happy, please stop with the sad puppy eyes 😲

(for your info, me didn’t stop with the sad puppy eyes, so eventually me got to taste a tiny piece of ham - mission accomplished!🐶)

Yesterday humom had to go out, so I spent a day with my dear auntie Eus. She always spoils me so much with treats and cuddles, so it’s never a problem for me to go to her. Also, her couch catches some beautiful sunshine in the afternoon, so I decided to tan my belly while taking a nap. All in all I had a great day.

• 7-YEAR-GOTCHA-DAY •

Hi everyone! It’s me, Happy!

Today, September 4, I’m celebrating that my humom and I have adopted each other exactly 7 years ago. Humom said this morning that to her it feels like I’ve always been there, and I looked her straight in the eye and told her that I’m never ever ever leaving 🥰

This is a series of me making my gotcha-day-treat disappear. Yes, I’m secretly a sorceress: I’ve almost perfected the art of making any food disappear 😊

The last picture is the 7-year-gotcha-day-pic that humom took of us yesterday. Doesn’t our love just burst off your screen? ❤️

I hope all you pets and non-pets alike have a nice day today, with many many opportunities to practice your skills of making food disappear, so you can become as proficient at it as I am 🤩

• SHE’S BACK •

For the first time since the start of COVID, my little girl has been back at work today. I had an appointment with my rehab specialist and splint-maker, which was only 20 minutes long and not too far from home. This seemed like the ideal opportunity to check how Happy would deal with being back at work after so long. And she did pretty great! Of course her routine was a bit off and she had to think a little harder about her tasks, but her focus was amazing. I’m very proud of her (and I think she’s proud of herself too)!

Long time no see, you guys… but we’re back! 💪🐾

My humom has been very busy surviving lately, her body has been an a$$hole and that made her struggle mentally as well. But luckily she had/has me! Even though we couldn’t be very active physically, there’s always time and energy for a big cuddle 🥰
I have been very sick as well a few weeks ago. I had pancreatitis, which can become especially bad and even life-threatening in dogs. But we’ve been lucky: thanks to our amazing vet and her druggies I’ve made a full recovery. Those druggies tasted amazing by the way, I was even sorry when my treatment was over 🤣

In the meantime we’re both beginning to realize that I’m not a puppy anymore, that in fact I’m 10,5 years old. My snoot is slowly becoming lighter, sometimes my back feets have trouble starting up in the morning, and I sleep a lot more than when humom and I first met. Fortunately I’m still very much able to do almost all of my service dog tasks, except for opening and closing heavy doors. But even if my body were to fail because it’s getting older, I can still do my epilepsy tasks: they require no physical actions, so as long as my brain keeps working, I can still be my humom’s great helper. Isn’t that great? 🤩

Today we’re doing absolutely nothing at all, says my humom. Except for walkies, eating, cuddling and whatever else I want to do, of course. But we don’t have to go anywhere, and that’s more than okay for both of us. We call these kind of days ‘Happy-days’.

Long time no see, dear everyone!

We’re so sorry about being absent for this long. My humom has been having big health troubles and to be honest, with all this lockdown stuff I haven’t been doing much work outdoors. So from a service dog point of view there wasn’t all that much to share.
But then today a friend told my humom that I’m not just a service dog, I’m also a regular dog when I’m off duty, and one who still experiences a whole lot of adventures in spite of any lockdown.
So we’re back 💪

But first it’s time for me to have a few wild adventures in my dreams. I’m already half asleep, but humom still wants to drag me outside for pe**ee and poopoo. Which I don’t want, because my blankie is much nicer and comfier.
We’ll see who wins 😉

My humom wants to let you guys know that she’s very sorry to everyone who has been bothered by Fracis Jerry, especially to those he has sent weird DMs. She doesn’t even know if it’s a real account, she just blocked him. He won’t bother anyone on here anymore!
Please enjoy this picture of me snoozing in the sunshine with my body against humom’s leg. She (meaning the mamarazzi 😜) took it yesterday, unfortunately there wasn’t as much sunshine here today.
