Het is eindelijk zomer! ☀️😎
Als je deze weken een les gepland hebt staan: bedenk of je kan zorgen voor een koele plek om te werken 🕶 of je de les wilt gebruiken voor een alternatieve training 💦⚽️🎠 (zoals wennen aan water, vliegen spray of zonnebrand crème). Mocht je de afspraak af willen zeggen of verzetten, doe dit dan minimaal 24 uur van te voren 🤓

Nog 3 dagen!!
Zaterdag is het Parelli Savvy Event in Terheijden ⭐️
Ik ben er de hele dag, kom jij ook?
Je kunt mij in actie zien in 2 demo’s en Vitesse zelfs in 3 🐴
De hele dag staat in het teken van de veelzijdigheid van Parelli Natural Horsemanship. Western, dressuur, kinderen, paarden starten, er komt van alles aan bod.
Je ziet de officiële instructeurs in actie, maar ook studenten laten Parelli op verschillende niveaus zien. Wij hebben er heel erg veel zin in!!

🥶Brace yourself 🥶
Winter is here! ☃️
Na alle regen van de afgelopen tijd, gaat het nu vriezen…Heb je een les gepland staan, laat dan op tijd weten als hij niet door kan gaan.
Maar er zijn ook altijd alternatieve invullingen voor de les zoals: spelen met obstakels, goede stalmanieren, theorieles, trailer laden, buiten rijden/wandelen, voorbereiden op de dierenarts en ga zo maar door. Ik denk graag met je mee om ook in deze periode progressie te blijven maken met je paard 🐴

Don’t blame your horse for being stiff ❄️
Have you noticed a difference in your training lately? In this period of the year a lot of us experience a bit of a set back. Suddenly thing don’t quite work the way we’re used to or progress slows down. It’s easy to get frustrated with yourself and with your horse. But there’s a lot of reasons why your horse and you might be experiencing a set back. In winter we often times have less time to play with our horses: not only are the days literally shorter, the weather might be so bad that riding is not pleasant or safe even, your arena might be flooded or there’s a waiting line in the indoor arena. We have less time and less space to do something with our horses which usually results in less practice. That’s normal and just something that comes with this season. Our horses will also naturally move less on their own in winter: they’ll spend more time eating, play less and stay on the dry side of their paddock. Often these things combined will lead to a little bit of stiffness. On top of that the cold will directly make things stiffer. you will have noticed this putting on a bridle in winter: the straps suddenly won’t fold and opening the clasps takes all your concentration. Both the leather and your fingers are stiff! This also applies to your horses body. Forcing things won’t do you any good, you might break your bridle or hurt your fingers. Just go a little slower, find a way to warm up and be kind. How to apply this to your training? Check my next post 🤓

Whoops! Been a little quiet up here 🙊
I haven’t been very active on my socials because I have been very busy IRL 😇
- we moved our paddock paradise to a new location ☘️
- we introduced two new horses to the herd 🐴
- Snow (my dog) had a second FCE and needs some extra TLC 🐶
- I have a baby now 🙈
- I’m still teaching and almost on top off my waiting list👌🏻
- Getting my body back into shape 💪🏻
- Getting my horse back into shape 🐎
Sooo lots going on, I’ll try to keep things up to date here a bit again as well 😄

We’re back to a little bit of strength training again today! 💪🏻Tess was as excited about this as me and gave it her all. 🔥Even though it’s still very short and very basic, I think we both feel very accomplished. 😏 Its so nice when your horse is actually motivated and interested to do what you ask her.

That’s it folks!! Super grateful to have almost made it to week 39 but today the saddle officially got to small for me and the bump. I already switched to a wider saddle a few weeks ago but the bump just keeps on growing. I’m so pleased with how well both me, the baby and my sweet horse have gotten through this pregnancy. Could not have asked for more! Luckily is ready to get back in the saddle so our lovely lady won’t get bored. I’ll keep her entertained from the ground 😜

Looking for some inspiration? 🤔 Even when it’s hot out there’s still a lot you can do with and for your horse to improve your horsemanship ☀️ Here’s just one concept that can be very helpful for you and your horse (you might need this skill one day). It requires trust, precision, obedience and responsibility. It can easily be done in the shadow and doesn’t require much physically. Here goes: Can you teach horse to put his foot in a bucket? Can you teach your horse to put his feet in a bucket with water? Can you teach your horse to keep his foot there until you take the bucket away? Can you repeat this process with all 4 feet? Can you put multiple feet in buckets at the same time?

Play with your horse and work on yourself 🤓 Had a great weekend of learning about the human body and movement in riding. Cannot wait to keep practicing and start using these tools with my students 😏 Look forward to lots of experimenting and learning together 🧐 Janneke has a great goal to make every student smile at least once during her lessons: here’s some proof of how successful she is 😉
