Q: Where did your love for the sport start?
A: The love of the sport came from when I was super young and got my first pony on my 6th birthday. It was a very naughty pony that was free but we were able to give it to the Eventing barn next door to my house for free lessons. That’s when it all started.

Q: Who was your biggest inspiration in sport?
A: Honestly I was the biggest inspiration to myself. Always pushing myself a bit harder and giving myself the drive to keep going even when things were not easy.

Q: What was the best advice you’ve been given?
A: Best advice given is that the bad days are the ones you learn most from.

Q: What qualities do you look for in a young horse?
A: The qualities I look for in a horse is bravery and willingness to try.

Q: Give us a profile on one of your exciting horses. Name, age, competition level, length of partnership? What are your goals for this horse?
A: Coachella Blue is a horse of mine that shares a very cool story and journey. She is 9 this year and sired by the famous Chacco Blue. At 5, I acquired her because she was a bit of an ugly duckling; unsure whether she would ever turn into anything but potentially could be a good broodmare for me because of her breeding. My long time friend Gary Brewster told me I have a horse for you, it’s either gonna be your next grand Prix horse or a great broodmare. At 5 I bred her but unfortunately she lost her foal 2 months early. I started her under saddle late in her 6 year old year. It’s been quite a journey building her up and getting all her parts together but we just finished the summer stepping up to the 1.40 Grand Prix where she took home 3rd in the welcome. This mare has a lot of heart and tries super hard for me. She has come way further than I have thought and can’t wait to see where we end up next.

Q: What do you feel are the most important foundational for up and coming riders to be focusing on?
A: I think the most important fundamentals for young upcoming riders to focus on would be horsemanship. I really worry that it’s getting lost these days in our sport. You need to put the time in to achieve your goals but you also need to build that relationship with your horse/partner there are no easy short cuts to create success.

Q: What is one piece of tack or equipment you can not live without?
A: There is a lot of tack that’s needed of course but the one thing I always need when riding is gloves. I can’t stand riding with out gloves.

Q: Finally - tell us, why do you love Antares?
A: I love Antares for a few reasons. The feeling of the soft leather and the saddles are extremely comfortable and fit a wide verity of horses. Love the nice classic look of all the tack.
