Boyd was sick this day, just before we had to move house.
I had no idea that he had IBD at this stage.

Bless his heart, he always tried his best to just enjoy life regardless.

Boyd and sisfur Skye before Boyd and I embarked on our own adventure.

Both have now passed. Skye in December 2023 age 21 and Boyd in February 2024 age 17.

More Boyd memories.
He loved outside time whether harnessed or in the catio.
In this house we'd go for walks from the top deck down to the bottom the deck, where he'd walk around and sniff each corner and put his head in all the vegetation for a good whiff.

Then he'd venture down to the grass which was a couple of meters away from a creek. Here there was plenty of dirt, bark, leaves and pine needles which was a glorious oversized litter box.

I'd do anything to be able to walk Boyd again. To watch him patrol his neighbourhood and enjoy and the sounds of nature. 🐾❤️

Boyd was a big snuggler and when he was healthy, he would join me whenever I went to bed.

The night before I had him put to sleep, he snuggled into my shoulder and placed his paws across my neck and chest. He laid there for a good 15-20 minutes before retreating into my side and curling up.

He hadn't done this in a few weeks leading up to his passing, preferring to sleep at the foot of my bed or in his cube. I think it was because he was feeling ill and trying to distance himself, which is natural for animals. But for some reason that night he knew would be his last, and I'm so grateful for those moments.

When Boyd was healthy he loved playing in his tunnel, even at the ripe old age of 16. He would sit by it in anticipation of me throwing a toy mouse inside of it so that he could dart in and catch his prey.

This is the last photo of him in his last home before we moved in December 2023.

He's on a bean bag covered with a blanket, which is sitting next to the ranch slider. He loved it as it got the morning sun. His snoozy eyes reflect that fact that he had just woken up. 🥰

I apologise for not posting more frequently but it became too difficult with his ups and downs.

This photo was taken yesterday.

Boyd was put to sleep today due to a failing liver. We are devastated, but will leave his page here for the memories.

What an interesting time it's been. ❤️
I've been doing ok, but had to start on some yucky steroids to try to stop my vomiting. The humans say it's because of IBD so we will see if this works!

Mum says that I have a great life with premium food, all the meds I need and all the love a cat could want. I tend to agree (not that I like the meds, MOL!!). 😊

Yes, we know my teeth are not the whitest but mum does not want to risk putting me under anesthesia for something which is not causing a problem. Can you believe I'll be 17 in January?!

Mum was told that I had CKD when i was 10/11...Turns out I had kidney damage from anesthesia. You can understand why putting me under again is risky.

Anyway, things are not too bad right now and the house I live in has extra human slaves who don't feed me, but give me attention, so I can't complain. 😺

Thank you for sharing our posts. But at this point, we really need donations for Lucky. If all of our followers could donate just one dollar, Lucky can have his surgery.

We cannot keep postponing his surgery. He cannot keep wearing a feeding tube. We hate to say it, but if this continues, we may have to make a difficult decision.

*Pawsitive update*

Boyds liver enzyme (ALT) has dropped dramatically and he does not have liver disease. 😊

He is now weighing in at 5.8kg

His GI symptoms also seem to be improving slowly but surely.

Without a biopsy it's impossible to be 100% certain but we are now treating him for IBD and not solely a food sensitivity. I'm not putting him through an invasive procedure unless it's absolutely necessary and at this point, it's not.

He may need to take steroids to improve the symptoms further, but we are giving the diet of Ziwipeak venison a couple more weeks before deciding if we need to introduce a medication like that which comes with its own risks.

He's doing very well considering all that has happened and all that could have happened.
