Here is one of our dedicated nurses Connor cuddling up with the gorgeous Wylie on the floor, as he found it too upsetting being separated from us in the kennels. Did you know that grass blades can get stuck in the back of your cats throat/nose? You would be surprised how often we need to remove grass blades - today we pulled this big one out of brave little Asha's throat! If a grass blade is suspected to be stuck it is important to bring your cat into the vet so our lovely vets can have a look down their throat under sedation.

Signs to look out for that might indicate a grass blade is causing your pet grief include:

• Sneezing
• Unproductive gagging/retching
• Coughing
• Pawing at their face/nose
• Bad breath
• Discharge out of one or both nostrils

If left untreated a grass blade stuck in the throat can cause many problems, including irritation, trauma, and infection. Needless to say, Asha is going to be feeling a lot better thanks to her proactive owner noticing something wasn't right and Dr Christie for getting it out!

Meet Margaret our new Vet! 🐦🐶🦜🐾

Some of you may have seen her bubbly face about the clinic already! Margaret will be working with us regularly on Wednesday and some Saturdays.

Since completing her degree Margaret has worked mainly with companion animals, specifically cats and dogs and more recently she has also moved into the Emergency and critical care field. Not to mention she has a tremendous enthusiasm for all things birds and is especially interested in avian medicine.

Outside of work, Margaret enjoys going to the gym, gardening (indoor and outdoor plants), hiking/nature walks and spending time with her partner and son and their menagerie of animals.

Margaret and her family recently moved to the Coast, so don’t be surprised if you see them out and about with their two dogs, ‘Blue’ the 3-legged deaf American Bulldog rescue & ‘Nala’ a collie cross SPCA special. Otherwise, she’s spending time at home with their flock of parrots and two Himalayan Persians.

This wee girl has been brought to the clinic as she was hanging around a clients house for the last few days. She is healthy and is microchipped. We have contacted her original owner but she has since been re homed and we can not contact the new owner as the contact number is inactive.
