Here’s Nat on a field trip to one of our processors learning about how freeze drying works.

Freeze dryers work by freezing the material, then reducing the pressure and adding heat to allow the frozen water in the material to change directly to a vapor (sublimate).
The entire process can take up to 36 hours.

A freeze dryer removes water from a perishable material in order to preserve it, extending its shelf life and/or making it more convenient for transport. Quite crucial for some of our petfood customers and pharmaceutical customers.

We can source a wide variety of freeze dried powders so please do reach out if you are interested.
