It is with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Rocci late this afternoon. We welcomed Rocci to our breeding family in 2014, we were new breeders and we weren’t really looking for a stud but this big gorgeous muscly boy with amazing type became available we didn’t take long to say yes we’ll take him. We didn’t even have a stud run for him and Glen had to try and build one whilst recovering from breaking his arm.

Rocci has produced some absolutely stunning babies, he has two daughters and several granddaughters still as breeding girls either with us or with other Breeders.

Rocci passed away peacefully in my arms after a short illness. You can now run free without being in pain our handsome Roc Monster.

Silver Double Grand Champion Aurora Burberry Dream you were one of a kind big boy and you will be missed by us and Anna whom he had a special affection for.

23 December 2009 - 18 April 2024 Aged 14 years.

Tomorrow marks the end of an era here at Sox ‘N’ Dots. 7 weeks ago Silver Double Grand Champion Sashima Ruff N Tumble (Richie) was neutered and retired from being a breeding stud. Richie has produced some gorgeous babies over the past 6 years. Richie will fly with me tomorrow to Hamilton where he will become a pampered and much loved pet with Allison and her family.

Very proud of Yuki and Minni. We have received their NZCF Annual award certificates. Yuki was 1st in neuter/spay cats and Minni placed 2nd also in Neuter/spay cats. Yuki started the show season as a kitten and he also placed 2nd in neuter/spay kittens. 😻🥳🎉

Yuki looks very peaceful when he’s asleep and then he morphs into the red devil. He’s tired after the cat show yesterday where he spent the day sucking up to the judges.

Update: Baylee has now finished interviews and has selected her new human and forever home 🙂. Baylee is currently interviewing for her forever home. She would prefer a home with a retired or work from home full time slave(s). She’s not keen on being picked up and can me a little cautious with new people but once comfortable she is very smoochy and likes to cuddle up next to you. She loves wand toys and behaves like a kitten racing around. She would prefer a home without under 5yr olds and she has not had exposure to dogs. Baylee is a 3 yr old lilac retired breeding queen, she has produced the most amazing babies. She has been spayed, vet checked and all vaccinations are up to date. She is also microchipped. Please message advising of the home you could offer her, there will be a charge for her.

Today we received certificates advising both Soxndots Affogato Rosebud (Rosie) and Soxndots Elastigirl (Minni) had placed in the NZCF Annual Awards. We also received two title certificates for Minni and one for Tiny Dancer.

Breeding cats is enjoyable but it’s alot of hard work with plenty of very late sleepless nights. It’s not for everyone, but for most of us that do breed we do it for the right reasons; to further the Burmese breed while adhering to the standard without unhealthy modification.

As a responsible breeder, it is our duty to educate as well as supply. It is unfortunate that as one of many responsible breeders we cannot always supply to meet that demand as we are all limited by the welfare of the cats that we breed from. We don’t do it for money, we do it because we adore the Burmese cat and because we enjoy seeing every fur baby that we bring into the world as another little soul ready for a waiting forever home.

We don’t do designer cats. You’ll get a Burmese cat which has been bred ethically with a full pedigree of Burmese behind them.

We don’t mind if you prefer to get your Burmese from elsewhere, all we ask is that you do your homework and purchase a Burmese fur baby from a responsible ethical breeder. You can find them on Google, just search for Burmese Cat NZ and you’ll find us all.

I’m writing this post to ask that during your hunt for a fur baby, to do due diligence, interview breeders and base your purchasing decision on ethical breeding rather than on demand breeding. We are seeing an increase of some pretty irresponsible crossbreeding with some very remarkable cat breeds and these are being sold for extortionate prices to unwitting purchasers.

These cats are not purebred’s, they’re expensive moggies with an unknown history with the potential to have health and/or behavioural problems.

And just because there’s no show without Punch or rather Ruby in this case. We’d like to welcome Ruby’s babies that were also born on Wednesday - 4 days early. Not to be outdone Ruby delivered 1 kitten mid morning and then she decided to wait for Tiny D 😞. She was a very tired girl by the time the last kitten was born around 7pm. Ruby was able to deliver the rest of her babies without surgical intervention after multiple ultrasound scans and a few oxytocin shots. Our thanks once again goes to Vicki who held the fort at home and to Jacoba who made the decision to wait - caesareans are really tough on mums and babies as we are finding out with Tiny D.

We’d like to announce the premature arrival of Tiny Dancer’s first litter delivered by caesarean on Wednesday afternoon, it’s still touch and go with the smallest wee boy but at least he is now able to suckle (he really needed the extra 5 days). Many thanks to our amazing vet Jacoba and her nursing team - Sarah, Emma and Nikita from West Melton Vet Centre. Huge thanks to Vicki from Myasanda Burmese for coming over to assist in what turned out to be a very stressful day. Hopefully I might be able to take a break from the two-hourly feeding to get some sleep tonight.

This year Burmese Cat Club of NZ have produced an A4 2022 wall calendar, having seen a copy it’s amazing with lots of photos of gorgeous Burmese and related breeds that were submitted by their owners. I don’t want to post pictures of the calendar as some members have not received their copies yet and we’d like them to be a surprise. If you are interested in purchasing a calendar they are $18 plus $7 p&p. We would require your order and payment by Monday 13th Dec at the latest to be able to get them to you by Xmas.

Miss Minni has just been shopping on Pet.co.nz to spend her $50 prize she won in the Stuff Cutest Pets competition, top of her list was a tunnel but she also got some new wand toys and feather balls. She is now anxiously awaiting their arrival.

****. Update****. Poppy has now found her forever home. ****. Thank you for your interest.

We have coming available an ex breeding queen looking for her forever home. She will be indoor only for some time until they have settled in. If you would be interested, please send me a brief description of the home that you can offer her. She has not been brought up around dogs. She will come with a pack of goodies including food and a blanket.

Poppy - (Soxndots Affogato Poppy) Seal Burmese - Poppy is extremely friendly, likes being up high and has a passion for jumping on people's backs when you bend over. She is very busy and would need a household where she gets a lot of attention and play time. Poppy is nearly 3 years old. She will be desexed, mcrochipped, wormed and up to date with vaccinations. Poppy likes children and has been very successful in cat shows.
